Rock slope stability is of great concern along highway routes as stability problems on cut slopes may cause fatal events as well as loss of *** rock slope engineering,stability evaluations are commonly performed by means of analytical or numerical analyses,principally considering the factor of safety *** a matter of fact,the probabilistic assessment of slope stability is progressively getting popularity due to difficulties in assigning the most appropriate values to design parameters in analytical or numerical ***,the effect of heterogeneities in rock masses and discontinuities on the analysis results is minimized through the probabilistic *** this study,slope stability of high and steep sedimentary rock cut slopes along a state highway in AdilcevazBitlis(Turkey) was evaluated on the basis of probabilistic approach using the Slope Stability Probability Classification(SSPC) *** probabilistic assessment indicates major slope stability problems because of discontinuity controlled and discontinuity orientation independent mass *** all studied cut slopes suffer from orientation-independent stability problems with very low stability ***,the probability of planar and toppling failures issignificantly high with respect to the SSPC *** stability problems along the investigated rock slopes were also verified by field *** measures such as slope re-design and reinforcement at the studied locations should be taken to prevent hazardous events along the *** the other hand,the probabilistic approach may be a useful tool during rock slope engineering to overcome numerous uncertainties when probabilistic and analytic results are compared.

To determine the shear wave velocity structure and predominant period features of Tmaztepe in izmir, Turkey, where new building sites have been planned, active-passive surface wave methods and single-station microtremor measurements are used, as well as surface acquisition techniques, including the multichannel analysis of surface waves （MASW）, refraction microtremor （ReMi）, and the spatial autocorrelation method （SPAC）, to pinpoint shallow and deep shear wave velocity. For engineering bedrock （V 〉 760 m/s） conditions at a depth of 30 m, an average seismic shear wave velocity in the upper 30 m of soil （AVs30） is not only accepted as an important parameter for defining ground behavior during earthquakes, but a primary parameter in the geotechnical analysis for areas to be classified by V30 according to the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program （NEHRP）. It is also determined that Z1.0, which represents a depth to V = 1000 m/s, is used for ground motion prediction and changed from 0 to 54 m. The sediment-engineering bedrock structure for Tmaztepe that was obtained shows engineering bedrock no deeper than 30 m. When compared, the depth of engineering bedrock and dominant period map and geology are generally compatible.

Osteoarthritis(OA)is a complex"whole joint"disease pursued by inflammatory mediators,rather than purely a process of"wear and tear".Besides cartilage degradation,synovitis,subchondral bone remodeling,degeneration of ligaments and menisci,and hypertrophy of the joint capsule take parts in the *** is the hallmark symptom of OA,but the extent to which structural pathology in OA contributes to the pain experience is still not well *** the knee OA,intraarticular(IA)injection(corticosteroids,viscosupplements,blood-derived products)is preferred as the last nonoperative modality,if the other conservative treatment modalities are *** corticosteroid injections provide short term reduction in OA pain and can be considered as an adjunct to core treatment for the relief of moderate to severe pain in people with *** hyaluronic acid(HA)injections might have efficacy and might provide pain reduction in mild OA of knee up to 24 *** for HA injections,the costeffectiveness is an important concern that patients must be informed about the efficacy of these *** more high-quality evidence is needed,recent studies indicate that IA platelet rich plasma injections are promising for relieving pain,improving knee function and quality of life,especially in younger patients,and in mild OA *** current literature and our experience indicate that IA injections are safe and have positive effects for patient ***,there is no data that any of the IA injections will cause osteophytes to regress or cartilage and meniscus to regenerate in patients with substantial and irreversible bone and cartilage damage.

In recent years,metal matrix syntactic foams(MMSFs)have become highly attractive owing to their unique physical,microstructural and mechanical *** to their promising potential for different industrial areas like automotive,aviation,and defense,these advanced engineering materials can also be evaluated as serious alternatives to particle reinforced metallic composites and conventional metallic *** from previously reported laboratory scaled techniques in the literature,this experimental effort focuses on the feasibility of MMSF manufacturing via a fully automated and industrial-based cold chamber die casting ***,1-2 mm,2-4 mm,and bimodal(50vol.%)natural-based pumice filled aluminum syntactic foams were manufactured utilizing a purpose-made casting ***,macroscopic,and microscopic examinations show that all of the fabricated samples display perfect matrix/filler *** density levels of fabricated syntactic foams range between 1.50 and 1.80 g·cm^(-3) depending upon the pumice particles size *** assess mechanical responses,quasi-static compression tests were ***,half of the foam samples were subjected to heat treatment to explore possible influences of aging on the compressive features and damage *** indicate that although the heat treatment enhances the compressive strength,plateau stress,and energy absorption properties of the fabricated foams,it changes damage mode of the samples by causing brittle dominant deformation.

Dosimetric Comparison of Integral Radiation Dose: Anisotropic Analytical Algorithm and Acuros XB in Breast Radiotherapy

The impact of the difference between Anisotropic Analytical Algorithm (AAA) and Acuros XB (AXB) in breast radiotherapy is not clearly due to different uses and further research is required to explain this effect. The aim of this study is to investigate the contribution of calculation differences between AAA and AXB to the integral radiation dose (ID) on critical organs. Seven field intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) plans were generated using with AAA and AXB algorithms for twenty patients with early stage left breast cancer after breast conserving surgery. Volumetric and dosimetric differences, as well as, the Dmean, V5, V20 doses of the left and right-sided lung, the Dmean, V10, V20, V30 doses of heart and the Dmean, V5, V10 doses of the contralateral breast were investigated. The mean dose (Dmean), V5, V20 doses of the left-sided lung, the Dmean, V5, V10 doses of right-sided lung, the Dmean, V10, V20, V30 doses of heart and the Dmean, V5, V10 doses of the contralateral breast were found to be significantly higher with AAA. In this research integral dose was also higher in the AAA recalculated plan and the AXB plan with the average dose as follows left lung 2%, heart 2%, contralateral breast 8%, contralateral lung 4% respectively. Our study revealed that the calculation differences between Acuros XB (AXB) and Anisotropic Analytical Algorithm (AAA) in breast radiotherapy caused serious differences on the stored integral doses on critical organs. In addition, AXB plans showed significantly dosimetric improvements in multiple dosimetric parameters.

Background:Ablation is an alternative treatment modality for selected patients with colorectal liver metastases(CRLMs).Although initially widely performed via radiofrequency ablation(RFA),more recently,microwave ablation(MWA)is being preferred due to its perceived superiority in creating the ablation *** aim of this study is to compare the long-term efficacy of these two modalities performed ***:Patients undergoing surgical liver ablation from 2005-2023 at a tertiary center by a single surgeon for CRLM were included in a retrospective institutional review board-approved *** were compared using Wilcoxon,Chi-square,Kaplan-Meier,and Cox multivariate regression *** data are presented as median(interquartile range).Results:There were a total of 242 *** RFA was done in 121 patients with 303 lesions and laparoscopic MWA in 121 patients with 300 *** was no difference between the groups regarding operative time(161 vs.147 minutes,respectively,P=0.4),perioperative morbidity(3%vs.8%,respectively,P=0.2)or hospital stay(1 vs.1 day,P=0.05).Local recurrence(LR)per lesion with at least 1 year of imaging follow-up was 29%in the RFA and 13%in the MWA group(P<0.001).Based on univariate survival analysis,tumor size,blood vessel proximity,ablation margin,and ablation modality were independent predictors of *** control these variables,direct matching was *** cohort included 189 ***-Meier analysis of these cohorts showed increased LR-free survival in the MWA group *** RFA group(P=0.005).Conclusions:This large study confirms our initial observation that local tumor control rate is better after MWA ***.

Castleman's disease(CD), also known as angiofolicular lymph node hyperplasia, is a rare heterogenous group of lymphoproliferative disorders. Histologically, it can be classified as hyaline vascular type, plasma cell type, or mixed type. Clinically two different subtypes of the CD are present: Unicentric and multicentric. Unicentric CD is generally asymptomatic and associated with hyaline vascular type, and its diagnoses depend on the localized lymphadenopathy on examination or imaging studies. However, multicentric CD presents with generalized lymphadenopathy and systemic symptoms including malaise, fever, night sweats, weight loss, and it is associated with the plasma cell type and mix type. Herein, we report a patient with unicentric CD of the plasma cell type without systemic symptoms, who developed end stage renal failure caused by amyloidosis 6 years after onset of CD.
