Background:To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of cabazitaxel in castration-resistant prostate cancer patients aged>80 years,we performed a retrospective study on a sample of patients from 11 Italian cancer *** and methods:Fifty-seven patients aged>80 years were treated with cabazitaxel after previous failure with docetaxel;39 completed a comprehensive geriatric assessment questionnaire(34 fit and 5 vulnerable)and 8 patients(14%)had an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status(PS)>2,while most had a PS of 0-1(86%).Cabazitaxel was administered at a dose of 25 mg/m^(2)in 30(52%)patients and 20 mg/m^(2)or adapted schedules in 27(48%)*** schedules were adopted mainly in patients>85 years(75%),with a PS>2(87.5%),and those classified as vulnerable(100%).Results:The duration of treatment was 4.8 months and was comparable in all subgroups;disease control rate was reported in 36 patients(63%);prostate-specific antigen response was recorded in 18 patients(31.5%).Median overall survival was 13.1 months regardless of age(85 years),but overall survival was reduced in vulnerable(7.2 months)and PS>2 patients(6.8 months).The most frequently documented grade 3-4 toxicities were neutropenia(14%)and diarrhea(10.5%).Six patients(10.5%)dropped out due to severe ***:Octogenarian patients can be treated with cabazitaxel with reduced doses or alternative schedules that are associated with less toxicity and fewer treatment *** geriatric assessment could facilitate more appropriate patient selection.

Projected changes in Köppen-Trewartha climate zones under 1.5-4℃global warming targets over mid-high latitudes of Northern Asia using an ensemble of RegCM4 simulations

Mid-high latitude Northern Asia is one of the most vulnerable and sensitive areas to global warming,but relatively less studied *** used an ensemble of a regional climate model(RegCM4)projections to assess future changes in surface air temperature,precipitation and Köppen-Trewartha(K-T)climate types in Northern Asia under the 1.5-4℃global warming ***4 is driven by five CMIP5 global models over an East Asia domain at a grid spacing of 25 *** of the present day(1986-2005)simulations shows that the ensembles of RegCM4(ensR)and driving GCMs(ensG)reproduce the major characters of the observed temperature,precipitation and K-T climate zones reasonably *** and more realistic spatial detail is found in RegCM4 compared to the driving GCMs.A general warming and overall increases in precipitation are projected over the region,with these changes being more pronounced at higher warming *** projected warming by ensR shows different spatial patterns,and is in general lower,compared to ensG in most months of the year,while the percentage increases of precipitation are maximum during the cold *** future changes in K-T climate zones are characterized by a substantial expansion of Dc(temperature oceanic)and retreat of Ec(sub-arctic continental)over the region,reaching∼20%under the 4℃warming *** most notable change in climate types in ensR is found over Japan(∼60%),followed by Southern Siberia,Mongolia,and the Korean Peninsula(∼40%).The largest change in the K-T climate types is found when increasing from 2 to 3℃.The results will help to better assess the impacts of climate change and in implementation of appropriate adaptation measures over the region.

Principles of Technology for Bottling Medicinal Mineral Waters of Sairme Using the Example of Source №3a

Sairme mineral water, one of the famous mineral waters in Georgia, is renowned for its exceptional healing properties. The distinctiveness and therapeutic benefits of the naturally sourced mineral water, known as “Sairme”, stem from its rich array of microelements, notably including iron and manganese. Since 1948, the bottling of Sairme mineral water has been a prominent activity. Named after the Sairme deposit, this mineral water is packaged in various formats to cater to diverse consumer preferences. The bottling process involves transporting the mineral water from wells to the bottling plant through pipelines. Prior to bottling, the mineral water undergoes meticulous processing stages in adherence to current Georgian and international regulations. This process ensures that the concentration of trace elements in the bottled water is minimized, maintaining its purity and quality. Given the importance of preserving the microelements present in bottled mineral water, our research is dedicated to optimizing the technological process. Our objective is to safeguard the valuable microelements while ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in the final product.

Grooming is an innate behavior that serves multiple purposes and has a dual nature, reflecting both comfort and stress. Auto-grooming, in particular, is highly sensitive to stressors and can be influenced by natural and synthetic anxiolytics. Researchers believe that rodent grooming can be a valuable tool in translational neurobiological studies, specifically focusing on aberrant grooming, such as the syntactic chain of grooming, which can serve as an experimental model for certain human psycho-nervous disorders.

Future changes in tropical cyclone(TC)activity over the western North Pacific(WNP)under the representative concentration pathway RCP4.5 are investigated based on a set of 21 st century climate change simulations over East Asia with the regional climate model RegCM4 driven by five global *** RegCM4 reproduces the major features of the observed TC activity over the region in the present-day period of 1986-2005,although with the underestimation of the number of TC genesis and intensity.A low number of TCs making landfall over China is also *** the end of the 21st century(2079-98),the annual mean frequency of TC genesis and occurrence is projected to increase over the WNP by16%and 10%,*** increase in frequency of TC occurrence is in good agreement among the simulations,with the largest increase over the ocean surrounding Taiwan Island and to the south of *** TCs tend to be stronger in the future compared to the present-day period of 1986-2005,with a large increase in the frequency of strong *** addition,more TCs landings are projected over most of the China coast,with an increase of~18%over the whole Chinese territory.

Ambulatory diastolic blood pressure:a marker of comorbidity in elderly fit hypertensive individuals?

BACKGROUND Masked diastolic hypotension is a new blood pressure(BP)pattern detected by ambulatory blood pressure monitoring(ABPM)in elderly *** aim of this study was to relate ABPM and comorbidity in a cohort of fit elderly subjects attending an outpatient hypertension *** Comorbidity was assessed by Charlson comorbidity index(CCI)and CHA_(2)DS_(2)VASc *** subjects evaluated with ABPM were aged≥65 *** and CHA_(2)DS_(2)VASc score were *** hypotension was defined as mean am-bulatory diastolic BPder to detect and independent relationship between comorbidity burden and night-time diastolic BPderly patients aged 72.1±5.2 years,men were 93(53.4%).Mean CCI was 0.91±1.14 and mean CHA_(2)DS_(2)VASc score of 2.68±*** with night-time mean diastolic valuesdependently associated with night-time mean diastolic valuesderly fit subjects with masked ***-orbid women appear to have higher risk for low ambulatory BP.
