The October 23, 2011 M7.2 Tabanli - Van and November 9, 2011 M5.2 Edremit - Van earthquakes caused damage in a widespread area across the Van province in Turkey. The ground motions, the damage caused by these earthquakes and the recent progress related to recovery efforts are presented herein. First, the key properties of the recorded strong ground motions like spectral amplitudes and directionality are evaluated. The observed damage in the affected reinforced concrete and masonry structures are discussed. The set of common structural damage mechanisms （i.e., soft story failure, torsional response due to plan irregularity, short column failure, pull out failure, pounding） observed in the damaged buildings were identified. The relationship between the key structural properties and the extent of damage is investigated. The primary loss drivers across the region were identified to be the poor quality of workmanship and improper use of building materials. The results from the investigation suggest that a large portion of the loss could have been prevented if sufficient attention and care were given to the implementation of the design regulations and in particular to the construction practice. Lastly, the recent progress in the ongoing rebuildin~ activities is presented.

Objective:To examine the effects of human bocavirus type 1(HBoV1)on the course of lower respiratory tract infections in cases of monoinfection and coinfection,and the effects of HBoV1 viral load on the disease in children under six years old hospitalized with a diagnosis of HBoV1-associated lower respiratory tract ***:Children under six years of age,who were hospitalized with the diagnosis of lower respiratory tract infection due to HBoV1 between 1 January 2021 and 1 January 2022 were included in the *** confirmation of the respiratory pathogens was performed using polymerase chain reaction(PCR).Results:Fifty-four(16.4%)children with HBoV1 among 329 children whose PCR was positive with bacterial/viral agent in nasopharyngeal swab samples were included in the *** were 28(51.9%)males and 26(48.1%)females with a median age 23.4 months[interquartile range(IQR):13.2,30.0 months](min-max:1 month-68 months).HBoV1 was detected as a monoinfecton in 26(48.1%)children,and as a coinfection with other respiratory agents in 28 children(51.9%).In multiple regression analysis,coinfection(P=0.032)was associated with the length of hospitalization(P<0.001;R^(2)=0.166).There was a negative correlation(r=−0.281,P=0.040)between cough and cycle *** was found to be positively correlated with C-reactive protein(r=0.568,P<0.001)and procalcitonin(r=0.472;P=0.001).Conclusions:Although we found a higher HBoV1 viral load in children with more cough symptoms in our study,it had no effect on the severity of the disease,such as length of hospital stay and need for intensive *** was found to affect the length of hospitalization.

The attenuation of seismic waves reflects the elastic nature of the media within which the waves *** this study,we calculate the Coda-Q(Qc),frequency dependence(η),Vp/Vs and Poisson's(υ)ratios by using 2621 vertical component seismograms generated by 987 earthquakes recorded by 13 seismic stations in Eastern Anatolia,and creat a 2-D seismic tomographic Qc model for the *** obtained model provides significant information for exploring the boundaries of adjacent tectonic units within the upper crust and interpreting their dynamic *** 2-D Qc model and the other parameters are consistent with the seismotectonic features of Eastern *** heterogeneous Qc values are observed in the study area dividing it into north-south directed bands of low and high *** highestηvalues were obtained beneath the northwestern and eastern parts of the study ***,high and lowυvalues are obtained in the western and eastern parts of the study area,*** spatial variations in the measured parameters are consistent with many geophysical observations including low Pn velocities,efficient Sn blockage,high heat flow,and widespread *** upper crustal thicknesses and inhomogeneous stress distribution along the East and North Anatolian Fault Zones may also contribute to the observed heterogeneities.

In present work,the effects of UV-B treatments on quality of fresh-cut spinach leaves were *** this purpose,spinach leaves grown in glasshouse were harvest,cleaned and placed into polystyrene foam dishes and wrapped by stretch *** packaging,freshcut spinach leaves were treated with UV-B irradiation and were stored at 5℃ temperature for 12 *** soluble solids,visual quality,L^*a^*b^* values,and also hue angle values of samples were determined during *** soluble solids content of samples in control group has been higher than those from samples in UV-B treatments,however,visual quality was lower than the other *** to L*values of the samples,it is found that lower ultraviolet irratiation(UV-B)treatments caused yellowing of samples,and also same result was obtained by b^* and a^* values of fresh-cut spinach ***,hue angles values of samples treated with UV-B for 6min was higher compared with the other ***,yellowing of fresh-cut spinach leaves was decreased,and visual quality scores of samples was increased through ultraviolet irradiation treatments.

In this article, we study the flows of curves in the Galilean 3-space and its equiform geometry without any constraints. We find that the Frenet equations and the intrinsic quantities of the inelastic flows of curves are independent of time. We show that the motion of curves in the Galilean 3-space and its equiform geometry are described by the inviscid and viscous Burgers＇ equations.

Radiotherapy of brain metastases from non-small cell lung cancer

Brain metastases risk at the time of diagnosis or during the course of disease is high in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Even the incidence of brain metastases has increased in recent years, due to detection of smaller asymptomatic lesions with MRI screening as well as improved survival as a consequence of developments in systemic therapies. In the last decade, there have been many trials in the management of NSCLC patients with brain metastases, questioning the role of adjuvant whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT) after surgery or stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), WBRT, compared to best supportive care in patients not amenable to surgery, aggressive local therapies in solitary brain metastases, postsurgical cavity SRS, SRS in non-oligometastatic patients, cranial radiotherapy in patients with driver mutations, thyrosine kinase inhibitors, immune check point inhibitors and the impact of therapies on neurocognitive functions and quality of life. The main objective of this review is to provide an update on current trends in radiotherapy in the management of newly diagnosed brain metastases from NSCLC.
