Halloysite nanotubes were used as nanocontainers to hold corrosion inhibitors such as Ce^(3+)-Zr^(4+),2-mercaptobenzothiazole and 8-hydroxyquinoline in their *** acid assisted etching of the nanotubes was carried out with a view to increase the lumen diameter and thereby,increase the amount of loading of the corrosion *** morphology of as-received and etched halloysite nanotubes was ob-served using TEM *** loading of corrosion inhibitors was confirmed using SEM-EdS and BET *** microcapsules were used as capping agents for the ends of the loaded HNTs following which,they were dispersed into a hybrid sol-gel silica *** coating method was used to generate coatings on AZ91d substrates followed by heat treatment at 130℃ for 1 *** release rate kinetics of corrosion inhibitors from as-received and etched nanotubes was investigated in buffer solutions of 3.5 wt%NaCl at different *** release mechanism of corrosion inhibitors from the HNT lumen was validated using various semi-empirical *** were also evaluated for their corrosion protection ability using electrochemical techniques after exposure to 3.5 wt%NaCl solution for 120 *** generated using Ce^(3+)-Zr^(4+)loaded into as-received halloysite nanotubes have shown more effective corrosion protection when compared to other corrosion inhibitors after 120 h exposure to the corrosive medium.

Starch nanocrystals(SNC)were prepared from maize starch using ultrasound assisted acid *** process takes less time for the generation of SNC,which is advantageous over conventional acid *** synthesized SNC were characterized using X-ray diffraction,dynamic light scattering,zeta potential and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).Particle size and TEM data show that the particles were near to 150 nm,with oval *** SNC with higher surface charge are obtained with this innovative approach as compared to conventional acid *** of high surface charge and oval like morphology,the SNC performed well in reinforcing a polyurethane *** rise in crystallinity by 16%was observed due to ultrasound *** the lower concentration of SNC in nanocomposite film,dynamic mechanical analysis demonstrated meaningful increment in mechanical properties of polyurethane nanocomposite *** decrease in chain slippage over the glass transition temperature was observed because of the SNC reinforcement in polyurethane *** to the conventional acid hydrolysis,the present approach for the synthesis of starch nanocrystals is much faster and easier.

Extrudability is one of the most critical factors when designing three-dimensional printable foam *** extrusion process likely affects the foam stability which necessitates the investigation into surfactant properties particularly for concrete mixes with high foam *** many studies have been conducted on traditional foam concrete in this context,studies on three-dimensional printed foam concrete are *** address this research gap,the effects of surfactant characteristics on the stability,extrudability,and buildability of three-dimensional printed foam concrete mixes with two design densities(1000 and 1300 kg/m^(3))using two different surfactants and stabilizers(synthetic-based sodium lauryl sulfate stabilized with carboxymethyl cellulose sodium salt,and natural-based hingot surfactant stabilized with xanthan gum)were investigated in this *** density tests were conducted before and after the extrusion to determine stability of the foam *** results were then correlated with surfactant qualities,such as viscosity and surface tension,to understand the importance of key parameters in three-dimensional printing of foam *** on the experimental results,surfactant solu1tion with viscosity exceeding 5 m Pa·s and surface tension lower than 31 mN/m was recommended to yield stable three-dimensional printable foam concrete ***,the volume of foam in the mix significantly affected the printability *** traditional foam concrete,the variation in the stabilizer concentration and density of concrete were found to have insignificant effect on the fresh-state-characteristics(slump,slump flow,and static yield stress)and air void microstructure of the stable mixes.

LC and LC–MS/MS studies for the identification and characterization of degradation products of acebutolol

The aim of the present investigation was to demonstrate an approach involving use of liquid chromatography(LC) and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(LC–MS) to separate, identify and characterize very small quantities of degradation products(dPs) of acebutolol without their isolation from the reaction mixtures. The drug was subjected to oxidative, hydrolytic, thermal and photolytic stress conditions as per International Conference on Harmonization(ICH) guideline Q1 A(R2). Among all the stress conditions the drug was found to be labile in hydrolytic(acidic & basic) and photolytic stress conditions, while it was stable in water-induced hydrolysis, oxidative and thermal stress conditions. A total of four degradation products were formed. A C18 column was employed for the separation of all the dPs on a gradient mode by using high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC). All the dPs were characterized with the help of their fragmentation pattern and the masses obtained upon LC–MS/MS and MSnanalysis. All the hitherto unknown degradation products were identified as 1-(2-(2-hydroxy-3-(isopropylamino)propoxy)-5-(amino)phenyl)ethanone(dP-I), N-(4-(2-hydroxy-3-(isopropylamino)propoxy)-3-acetylphenyl)acrylamide(dP-II), 1-(2-(2-hydroxy-3-(isopropylamino)propoxy)-5-(hydroxymethylamino)phenyl)ethanone(dP-III) and 1-(6-(2-hydroxy-3-(isopropylamino)propoxy)-2,3-dihydro-2-propylbenzo[d]oxazol-5-yl)ethanone(dP-IV). Finally the in-silico carcinogenicity and hepatotoxicity predictions of the drug and all the dPs were performed by using toxicity prediction softwares viz., TOPKAT, LAZAR and discovery Studio AdMET. The results of in-silico toxicity studies revealed that acebutolol(0.967) and dP-I(0.986) were found to be carcinogenic, while acebutolol(0.490) and dP-IV(0.437) were found to be hepatotoxic.

AIM: To investigate -765G > C COX-2 polymorphism and H pylori infection in patients with gastric adenocarcinoma, peptic ulcer disease (PUd) and non- ulcer dyspepsia (NUd). METHOdS: We enrolled 348 adult patients (62 gastric adenocarcinoma, 45 PUd and 241 NUd) undergoing upper gastrointestinal endoscopy at two referral centers between September, 2002 and May, 2007. H pylori infection was diagnosed when any of the four tests (RUT, culture, histopathology and PCR) were positive. Genotyping for -765G > C polymorphism of COX-2 was performed by PCR-RFLP analysis. RESULTS: Frequency of C carrier had significantassociation with gastric adenocarcinoma as compared to NUd [77.4% vs 29%, P dds ratio (OR) 8.20; 95% confidence interval (95% CI), 4.08-16.47] and PUd (77.4% vs 31.1%, P denocarcinoma was significantly higher in patients having C carrier with (OR 7.83; 95% CI 3.09-19.85) and without H pylori infection (OR 7.06; 95% CI, 2.61-19.09). Patients with C carrier and H pylori infection had significant risk for the development of PUd (P C COX-2 polymorphism with or without H pylori could be a marker for genetic susceptibility to gastric adenocarcinoma. COX-2 polymorphism in presence of H pylori infection might be useful in predicting the risk of PUd.

Noni(Morinda citrifolia L.) fruit juice delays immunosenescence in the lymphocytes in lymph nodes of old F344 rats

Objective： Aging is associated with the development of diseases because of immunosuppression and altered functioning of the neuroendocrine system. The medicinal properties of Morinda citrifolia L. have been widely exploited for the treatment of age-associated diseases. This study aims to investigate the in vitro and in vivo effects of noni（M. citrifolia） fruit juice（NFJ） on neuro-immunomodulation in the lymph node lymphocytes of F344 ***： Lymphocytes isolated from axillary and inguinal lymph nodes of young（3–4 months） and old（18–21 months） rats were treated in vitro with different concentrations（0.0001%, 0.01%, and 1%） of NFJ for a period of 24 h. In the in vivo study, old（16–17 months） male F344 rats were treated with 5 mL/kg body weight of 5%, 10% and 20% of NFJ, twice a day, by oral gavage, and lymph node lymphocytes were isolated after 60 d. Concanavalin A（Con A）-induced lymphocyte proliferation, interleukin-2（IL-2）and interferon-γ（IFN-γ） production and expression of intracellular markers, such as phosphoextracellular signal-regulated kinase（p-ERK1/2）, phospho-γ AMP response element-binding protein,phospho-protein kinase B（p-Akt）, phospho-tyrosine hydroxylase（p-TH）, phospho-nuclear factor of κ light polypeptide gene enhancer in B-cells inhibitor-α（p-IκB-α） and phospho-nuclear factor-κB（p-NF-κB p65 and p50） were examined in the lymphocytes of lymph ***： NFJ increased Con A-induced lymphocyte proliferation, IL-2 and IFN-γ production, and p-ERK1/2 expression both in vitro and in vivo. In in vivo NFJ-treated old rats, lymph node lymphocytes showed increased expression of p-TH and Akt, nitric oxide production and decreased expression of p-NF-κB p65 and ***： These results suggest that the immunostimulatory properties of NFJ are facilitated through intracellular signaling pathways involving ERK1/2, Akt and NF-κB.

Geopolymers are inorganic adhesive synthesized from industrial waste such as fly ash thus the development of wood geopolymer composite would be a low carbon footprint ***,being a non-formaldehyde adhesive can be used as an alternative binder for wood based composites where environmentally friendly and sustainability of product is *** this study flyash as precursor is been used in the development of wood geopolymer composite *** is activated with a combination of sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate solutions at a weight ratio of 1:2.5 for geopolymer *** study investigated the properties of wood geopolymer composite made with ratios of wood particle to flyash percentage(23/77),(37/62),(44/55),(50/50)and(57/43).Geopolymer formation was observed by X-ray diffraction(XRd)and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR).Influence of wood particles in wood geopolymer composite were observed by Scanning electron *** study shows that the water absorption and thickness selling properties of all the formulations of wood geopolymer composites are comparable with the medium density particle board and cement-bonded particleboard according to the IS:3087-2005 standard and IS:12406:*** mechanical properties and good bond strength was obtained by the composite containing 23%wood particle ratio with 77%percent ***,still improvement in mechanical properties is needed to achieve the mechanical properties comparable to cement bonded particle board.

Observation of Zitterbewegung in photonic microcavities

We present and experimentally study the effects of the photonic spin–orbit coupling on the real space propagation of polariton wavepackets in planar semiconductor microcavities and polaritonic analogues of *** particular,we demonstrate the appearance of an analogue Zitterbewegung effect,a term which translates as‘trembling motion’in English,which was originally proposed for relativistic dirac electrons and consisted of the oscillations of the centre of mass of a wavepacket in the direction perpendicular to its *** a planar microcavity,we observe regular Zitterbewegung oscillations whose amplitude and period depend on the wavevector of the *** then extend these results to a honeycomb lattice of coupled microcavity *** to the planar cavity,such lattices are inherently more tuneable and versatile,allowing simulation of the Hamiltonians of a wide range of important physical *** observe an oscillation pattern related to the presence of the spin-split dirac cones in the *** both cases,the experimentally observed oscillations are in good agreement with theoretical modelling and independently measured bandstructure parameters,providing strong evidence for the observation of Zitterbewegung.
