Thin film. of nanostru.tu.ed α-FeOwith thickness of 1 56,203 and 251 nm.were deposited by su.cessive ionic layer adsorption and reaction(SILAR) m.thod onto glass su.strates u.ing FeCl-6HO and NaOH as cationic and anionic *** X-ray diffraction stu.ies revealed that,α-FeOthin film. are nanocrystalline in natu.e with rhom.ohedral *** m.rphological properties were investigated by field em.ssion scanning electron and atom.c force *** optical stu.ies showed that α-FeOexhibits direct as well as indirect optical band gap *** electrical resistivity of α-FeOat 305 K decreases from.11.76×102 to9.46 × 10~2 Ω cm.as film.thickness increases from.156 to 251 *** therm.-em. m.asu.em.nts confirm.d that α-FeOexhibits n-type *** nanocrystalline α-FeOexhibits antibacterial character against Staphylococcu. au.eu. and its efficiency increases from.37.50%to 87.50%depending on crystallite size.

Pet cat bites are com.on—the m.st typical patient being a child, and the m.st typical locality hands and face. The norm.l flora of a pet cat’s m.u.h hou.es very potent pathogens. Therapeu.ic m.asu.es inclu.e wou.d cleansing, prophylaxis against tetanu. and possibly rabies. Antibiotic prophylaxis shou.d be adm.nistered in the cases of all bu. the m.ldest su.erficial wou.ds especially if the wou.d is in the hand or face. We present a review on the m.dical care of cat bite wou.ds and a typical case of a patient who developed rapid sym.tom. and signs of infection after a pet cat bite and nearly requ.red hospitalization. The clinical pictu.e was consistent with a Pasteu.ella infection.

A low-cost photocondu.tive du.l-band detector was prepared u.ing a nanoporou. ZnO film.sensitized by PbS qu.ntu. dots （QDs）. At room.tem.eratu.e the device shows a u. response in the wavelength range of 200-400 nm.with a 370 nm.peak responsivity of 4.0×105 V/W and a vis-NIR response from.500 to 1400 nm.with a 700 nm.peak responsivity of 5.4×105 V/W. By increasing the size of the PbS QD, the response can be extended u. to 2.9 μm. It is su.gested that the u. response is a resu.t of interband absorption of u. radiation by ZnO and the IR response com.s from.the absorption of PbS QDs.

In this paper we present a sim.le way to convert a conventional sonom.ter into a sim.0}ated fretted instru.ent, su.h as a gu.tar or sim.lar, by adding a fingerboard to the sonom.ter. In particu.ar, we u.e this m.dified apparatu. in relation to the problem.of the instru.ent intonation, i.e., how to obtain correctly tu.ed notes on these string instru.ents. The experim.ntal procedu.es presented in this stu.y can becom. a m.re stru.tu.ed laboratory activity to be u.ed in general physics cou.ses or acou.tics classes.

In a three years experim.nt, condu.ted on acidic soil, fou. varieties of soybean [Glycine m.x (L) m.rril] were tested to see their perform.nce u.der different regim.s of applied Phosphoru.. The highest nu.ber of pods was given by the cu.tivar Bragg, followed by Pu.jab-1, Du.ga and JS-89-21. A sim.lar trend was observed in the nu.ber of filled pods. On an average, the cu.tivar, Pu.jab-1, gave the m.xim.0} harvest index, followed closely by Bragg. Both the cu.tivars, Du.ga and JS-89-21, had lower harvest index. The application of P fertilizer significantly increased the harvest index u. to 60 kg·P·ha–1. The Highest yield of grains was given by the variety ‘Bragg’ (1630 kg·ha–1), followed by Pu.jab-1, JS-89-21 and Du.ga, which gave the yields of 1510, 1470 and 880 kg·ha–1, respectively. Highest N, P and K rem.val was fou.d by the cu.tivar Bragg, followed by Pu.jab-1, JS-89-21 and Du.ga cu.tivars. The u.take of nu.rients was significantly related to the total biom.ss produ.ed by a cu.tivar (r = 0.8125), showing a yield predictability of 66.0%. The increase in u.take of N, P and K, respectively, with the application of 60 kg·P·ha–1 over no P was;245.3, 159.4 and 158.3% in case of Bragg, 101.5%, 73.8% and 44.6% in case of Du.ga, 182.2%, 70.6% and 63.8% in case of JS-89-21 and 164.7%, 80.0% and 97.4% in case of Pu.jab-1. A significant increase in soil available P was fou.d in the plots where it was applied @ 60 kg·ha–1 continu.u.ly for three years.

The stu.y was condu.ted to determ.ne the concentrations of heavy m.tals (Cu. Zn, Co, m., Fe, Cr, Cd and Pb) in the liver, kidney and flesh of Cattle, Sheep and Goats from.Anka and Bu.ku.u. Local Governm.nt areas of Zam.ara State Nigeria. The levels of heavy m.tals in the liver, kidney and flesh of beef, m.0}ton and caprine ranged from.56 to 549 μg·g-1 for Zn;109 to 576 μg·g-1 for Fe;0.0 to 4.0 μg·g-1 for Pb;2.52 to 13.25 μg·g-1 for m.;0.00 to 19.64 μg·g-1 for Cr;0.00 to 0.25 μg·g-1 for Cd;0.00 to 2.71 μg·g-1 for Co and 3.59 to 538 μg·g-1 for Cu. The concentration of Cr, Pb and m. in the kidneys and livers of the sam.les were observed to be higher than the m.xim.0} allowable level. Sim.larly, the exception of Cr in the liver of sheep and goat from.Anka and liver of sheep from.Bu.ku.u., Pb in som. liver and kidney sam.les and m. in som. liver, kidney sam.les and flesh of cattle from.Anka were fou.d to be pollu.ed and hence u.safe for consu.ption.

Cobalt-free m.raging steels of different com.ositions have been prepared by electro-slag rem.lting techniqu. u.ing titaniu. and chrom.u. instead of cobalt. Neu.ron rem.val cross-sections have been calcu.ated, also m.ss attenu.tion coefficients and effective electron densities have been determ.ned for the prepared sam.les in the photon energy range u. to 2.8 m.V. Other steel alloys and lead sam.les have also been investigated for the sake of com.arison. The resu.ts prove the su.eriority of cobalt-free m.raging steels com.ared with the other steel types to be u.ed as a proper shielding m.terial in the nu.lear field. Am.ng the investigated steels, the steel “0.045%C- 13.35%Ni-2.05%Cr-4.5%m.-0.06%Ti” has the best attenu.tion properties.
