Increasing environmental awareness and stringent environmental regulations h.ve motivated many companies to incorporate ecodesign into product development. To assist companies to address th. ch.llenge, th.s research.presents a design for environment （DfE） meth.dology to evaluate and improve derivative consumer electronic product development using a back-propagation neural network （BPNN） model and a tech.ique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution （TOPSIS） meth.d. Based on use of a BPNN, th. life cycle assessment （LCA） models are developed to estimate quantities of h.zardous ch.mical substances and energy consumption for a derivative consumer electronic product th.ough.ut th. product life cycle. A performance evaluation and improvement model for DfE is th.n devised based on th. TOPSIS meth.d to analyze th. ecodesign performance and provide concrete improvement strategies. With.th. aforementioned analysis of environmental performance, an enterprise can profoundly understand and significantly enh.nce th. relative DfE performance of a new product compared to th. similar competitive products. Finally, we apply an optical mouse development project as a case to elaborate and demonstrate th. effectiveness of th. proposed meth.dology. Th.se analytical results can let us understand th. DfE performance ranking and acquire th. maximum reduced quantity of each.DfE criterion for each.module of a new product. Meanwh.le, to enh.nce th. green competitiveness of th. new product, we recommend th.t th. engineers sh.uld decrease th. area of th. circuit board of th. new product. In addition, th. material of th. USB cable for th. new product sh.uld be switch.d from th. PVC material to th. PE material.

BACKGROUND Alth.ugh.cytoreductive surgery(CRS)and h.perth.rmic intraperitoneal ch.moth.rapy(h.PEC)offer th. potential for long-term survival in peritoneal carcinomatosis,outcomes following CRS/h.PEC vary *** To identify th. clinical factors associated with.progression-free survival(PFS)after complete CRS/h.PEC in patients with.colorectal/h.gh.grade appendiceal,ovarian,and gastric *** We retrospectively evaluated th. risk of recurrence with.n 1 year after CRS/h.PEC and its impact on overall survival(OS)in patients recruited between 2015 and *** regression models were used to assess th. prognostic factors for th. risk of recurrence with.n 1 ***–Meier survival curves and Cox proportional h.zards models were used to evaluate th. association between recurrence and *** Of th. 80 enrolled patients,39 h.d an unfavorable PFS(h.d a favorable PFS(≥1 year).Simple logistic models revealed th.t th. patients with.a completeness of cytoreduction score of 0(CC-0)or length.of CRS≤6 h.h.d a favorable PFS[odds ratio(OR)=0.141,P=0.004;and OR=0.361,P=0.027,respectively].In multiple logistic regression,ach.eving CC-0 was th. strongest prognostic factor for a favorable PFS(OR=0.131,P=0.005).A peritoneal cancer index score>12 was associated with.a lower rate of ach.eving CC-0(P=0.027).Th. favorable PFS group h.d a significantly longer OS(median 81.7 mo vs 17.0 mo,Ph.eving CC-0 was associated with.a lower early recurrence rate and improved long-term *** study underscores th. importance of selecting appropriate candidates for CRS/h.PEC to manage peritoneal carcinomatosis.

Th. present study provides th. proper positions of th. four states in th. ancient Tal-Ch. diagram. Th. Fu Xi＇s Eigh. Trigrams Ch.rt located along th. ancient Tai-Ch. diagram is also developed in th. present study. Th. interface curve of Yin-Yang in th. ancient Tai-Ch. diagram h.s never been described math.matically. It can now be formulated by th. equations describing th. particle path. in th. Lagrangian flow field.

BACKGROUND Cytoreductive surgery and h.perth.rmic intraperitoneal ch.moth.rapy(CRS/h.PEC)for peritoneal surface malignancy can effectively control th. disease,h.wever it is also associated with.adverse effects wh.ch.may affect quality of life(QoL).AIM To investigate early perioperative QoL after CRS/h.PEC,wh.ch.h.s not been discussed in *** Th.s single institution,observational coh.rt study enrolled patients wh. received CRS/*** assessed QoL using th. Taiwan residents version of th. MD Anderson Symptom Inventory(MDASI-T)and European Organization Research.and Treatment of Cancer Core Quality of Life Questionnaire(EORTC QLQ-C30).Participants completed th. questionnaires before CRS/h.PEC(S1),at th. first outpatient follow-up(S2),and 3 mo after CRS/h.PEC(S3).RESULTS Fifty-eigh. patients were *** was no significant perioperative difference in global h.alth.*** ch.nges in ph.sical and role functioning scores decreased at S2,and fatigue and pain scores increased at S2 but returned to baseline at *** regression analysis sh.wed th.t age and performance status were significantly correlated with.*** th. MDASI-T questionnaire,distress/feeling upset and lack of appetite h.d th. h.gh.st scores at S1,compared to fatigue and distress/feeling upset at S2,and fatigue and lack of appetite at *** leading interference items were working at S1 and S2 and activity at ***-T scores were significantly negatively correlated with.th. EORTC QLQ-C30 *** QoL and symptom severity improved or returned to baseline in most categories with.n 3 mo after CRS/*** findings can h.lp with.preoperative consultation and perioperative care.

Spermatozoa emerging from th. testis undergo a maturation process in th. epididymis during wh.ch.th.y ch.nge morph.logically, bioch.mically and ph.siologically to gain motility and th. ability to fertilize ova. We examined mouse epididymal sperm with.immunostaining and transmission electron microscopy （EM） and identified a previously unknown structure on th. apical h.ok. Th. structure h.s a coiled configuration around 11 nm in th.ckness and is present at th. tip of each.corner of th. triangular-rod sh.ped perforatorium. Surveying sperm isolated from various regions of th. epididymis indicated th.t mouse sperm acquire th. h.ok rim （h.） structure during its passage th.ough.th. proximal two-th.rds of th. caput epididymidis. Th. structure with.tands vigorous sonication and h.rsh.ch.mical treatments and remains intact after th. acrosome reaction. Its location and sturdiness suggest a function in protecting th. apical h.ok from mech.nical wear during fertilization. Our EM images of epididymal sperm also revealed additional novel structures as well as lateral asymmetry of th. sperm h.ad, indicating th.t mouse sperm h.ad h.s a structure more complex th.n previously recognized.

Cerebral isch.mia is one of th. leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Alth.ugh.stroke （a form of cerebral isch.mia）-related costs are expected to reach.240.67 billion dollars by 2030, options for treatment against cerebral isch.mia/stroke are limited. All th.rapies except anti-th.ombolytics （i.e., tissue plasminogen activator） and h.poth.rmia h.ve failed to reduce neuronal injury, neurological deficits, and mortality rates following cerebral isch.mia, wh.ch.suggests th.t development of novel th.rapies again st stroke/cerebral isch.mia are urgently needed. h.re, we discuss th. possible mech.nism（s） underlying cerebral isch.mia-induced brain injury, as well as current and future novel th.rapies （i.e., growth.factors, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, melatonin, resveratrol, protein kinase C isozymes, pifith.in, h.poth.rmia, fatty acids, sympath.plegic drugs, and stem cells） as it relates to cerebral isch.mia.
