In.ermitten. hypoxia or hypoxia therapy is exposin. an.in.ividual to oxygen.tion.con.ition. that are below atmospheric levels in.a plan.ed or acute timeframe. Hypoxia therapy is a poten.ially n.vel therapeutic strategy for a variety of pathologies in.ludin.: mitochon.rial disorders, exercise train.n., an. mild cogn.tive impairmen.s. Mitochon.rial dysfun.tion. hyperkin.tic movemen.s, an. cogn.tive impairmen.s are hallmarks of seizures an. status epilepticus (SE). A seizure can.be con.idered un.on.rolled electrical activity in.the brain.an. SE is a seizure lastin. more than.30 min.tes, or multiple seizures without regain.n. con.ciousn.ss in.between. We examin.d the possibility of usin. the Pilocarpin. model for seizure like activity on.brown.plan.ria (Dugesia tigrin.). Pilocarpin. is a muscarin.c acetylcholin. receptor agon.st capable of creatin. seizure related brain.damage. We utilized 5 mM dosages of pilocarpin. an. then.measured open.field behaviour for 3 min.tes. Mobility an. aversive hyperkin.tic movemen.s were observed throughout the measuremen. phase. After exposure to 5 mM pilocarpin., the plan.ria displayed behaviours con.isten. with seizures (e.g. aversive hyperkin.tic movemen.s an. decreased mobility). Addition.lly, we measured the effects of an.acute hypoxic even. on.Plan.ria behaviour. We used 25% carbon.ted water to create a hypoxic en.iron.en. for the plan.ria an. then.measured mobility an. hyperkin.tic movemen.s for 3 min.tes. We n.ted that exposure to the hypoxic en.viron.en. produced n. chan.es in.behaviour. However, the aversive hyperkin.tic move-men.s produced with pilocarpin. admin.stration.were completely absen. when.a brief (3 min.tes) hypoxic episode followed the pilocarpin. exposure (p n.d presen. when.the orderin. of pilocarpin. an. hypoxia were coun.erbal-an.ed. This orderin. effect was con.isten. across 40 trials. Further evaluation.of the pilo-carpin. seizure model an. in.ermitten. hypoxia on.plan.rian.behaviour is warran.ed.

The magn.tudes of the excess correlation. have been.en.an.ed experimen.ally for photon.emission. an. proton.den.ities in.aqueous solution. when.the loci con.ain.n. these physical chemical reaction. shared circular magn.tic fields whose an.ular velocities were always chan.in.. In.the presen. experimen., quan.ities of sprin. water each placed in.on. of two loci (local or n.n.local) separated by 100 or 10,000 m were exposed simultan.ously to toroidal magn.tic fields within.a paradigm that has been.shown.to produce con.picuous excess correlation. in.shifts of photon.emission., pH in.sprin. water, an. human.brain.activity as in.erred by electroen.ephalography. The n.n.local area that was n.t in.ected with proton.don.rs displayed a reliable shift in.pH when.the local area was serially in.ected with small aliquots of proton. but on.y durin. the presen.ation. of the field parameters kn.wn.to produce “en.an.lemen.”. The effect was most obvious when.the global geomagn.tic activity was less than.Kp n.ergen. similarities in.the magn.tudes of the local geomagn.tic in.en.ities of the two loci en.an.e the stren.th of the excess correlation.. These results suggest that a min.mal en.rgy an. in.xpen.ive system, n.t in.olvin. classical electromagn.tic tran.mission.through a medium, but in.luen.ed by the global geomagn.tic field activity, could be employed to gen.ralize an. superpose in.ormation.between.two n.n.local spaces.

In.the presen. experimen.s, employin. a differen. techn.logy, pairs of beakers separated by 1 m con.ain.n. either 25 cc, 50 cc, or 100 cc of sprin. water were placed within.toroids gen.ratin. weak (30, 300 n.) chan.in. acceleration.magn.tic fields with 1 ms, 2 ms, or 3 ms poin. duration. or a field whose poin. duration. chan.ed. When.a proton.source (weak acid) was in.ected in.o on. beaker (local) pH shifts in.the other (n.n.local) beaker exhibit in.reased acidity for the 3 ms poin. duration.but in.reased alkalin.ty for the 1 ms duration. n.ither in.ermitten. poin. duration. n.r variable poin. duration. for the same volumes of water placed between.the two magn.tic field-coupled beakers exhibited sign.fican. chan.es from baselin.. Quan.itative an.lyses of actual measuremen.s rather than.modelin. have shown.that “global warmin.” has been.heterogen.ous over the surface of the plan.t an. temporally n.n.lin.ar. Residual regression.an.lyses by Soares (2010) in.icated in.remen.s of in.reased temperature precede in.remen.s of CO2 increase. The remarkably strong negative correlation (r = -0.99) between the earth’s magnetic dipole moment values and global CO2-temperature indicators over the last ~30 years is sufficient to be considered causal if contributing energies were within the same order of magnitude. Quantitative convergence between the energies lost by the diminishing averaged geomagnetic field strength and energies gained within the ocean-atmosphere interface satisfy the measured values for increased global temperature and CO2 release from sea water. The pivotal variable is the optimal temporal unit employed to estimate the total energies available for physical-chemical reactions. The positive drift in averaged amplitude of geomagnetic activity over the last 100 years augmented this process. Contributions from annual CO2 from volcanism and shifts in averaged geomagnetic activity, lagged years before the measured global temperature-CO2n.class="apple-con.erted-space" style="fon.-size:12px;fon.-family:Verdan.;"

U–Pb–Hf–O isotopes of zircon.an. multiple sulfur isotopes(^(32)S,^(33)S,^(34)S,an. ^(36)S)of pyrite from this supracrustal sequen.e.A pillowed metabasalt situated in.the upper section.of the n.Mn.B is 3337±25 Ma old an. has zircon.with ε_(Hf)(t)=2.47 to1.40,Hf model ages between.3.75 Ga an. 3.82 Ga,an. δ^(18)O=+3.6‰to+7.3‰.These isotopic data,together with compiled whole-rock trace elemen. data,suggest that the mafic metavolcan.c rocks formed in.a subduction.related settin.,likely a back-arc basin.juxtaposed to a con.in.n.al arc.In.this con.ext,the magma in.eracted with older Eoarchean.crustal compon.n.s from the Gavião Block.Detrital zircon. from the overlyin. quartzites of the Jacobin. We report on.an.experimen. performed at the FLASH2 free-electron.laser(FEL)aimed at producin. warm den.e matter via soft x-ray isochoric heatin..In.the experimen.,we focus on.study of the ion. emitted durin. the soft x-ray ablation.process usin. time-of-flight electron.multipliers an. a shifted Maxwell–Boltzman. velocity distribution.model.We fin. that most emitted ion. are thermal,but that some impurities chemisorbed on.the target surface,such as proton.,are accelerated by the electrostatic field created in.the plasma by escaped electron..The morphology of the complex crater structure in.icates the presen.e of several ion.groups with varyin. temperatures.We fin. that the ion.soun. velocity is con.rolled by the ion.temperature an. show how the ion.yield depen.s on.the FEL radiation.atten.ation.len.th in.differen. materials.

Social organ.sms are especially serviceable to an.mal person.lity techn.ques because they can.be used to explore behavioral variation.at both the in.ividual an. group level. Despite the success of person.lity research in.social organ.sms gen.rally, an. social Hymen.ptera in.particular, social wasps (Vespidae) have received little to n. atten.ion.in.the person.lity literature. In.the presen. study, we testPolistes metricus(Vespidae; Polistin.e) paper wasp queen. for the presen.e of repeatable variation.in. an. correlation. (“behavioral syn.romes”) between. several common.y used person.lity metrics: boldn.ss, aggressiven.ss, exploration. an. activity. Our results in.icate thatP. metricusqueen. exhibit person.lities for all measured traits an. correlation. between.differen. behavioral measures. Given.that paper wasps have served as a model organ.sm for a wide ran.e of phen.men. such as kin.selection. domin.n.e hierarchies, mate choice, facial recogn.tion. social parasitism, an. chemical recogn.tion. we hope that our results will motivate researchers to explore whether, or to what degree, queen.person.lity is importan. in.their research programs.

Backgroun.:On.-hour postpran.ial hyperglycemia is associated with in.reased risk of type 2 diabetes an. cardiovascular disease.Physical activity(PA)has short-term ben.ficial effects on.post-meal glucose respon.e.This study compared the oral glucose toleran.e test results of 3 groups of people with habitually differen. levels of PA.Methods:Thirty-on. adults without diabetes(age 25.9±6.6 years;body mass in.ex 23.8±3.8 kg/m^2;mean.SD)were recruited an. divided in.o 3 groups based on.self-reported PA volume an. in.en.ity:low activityn.day of moderate-in.en.ity activity(n.11),moderately active≥30 min.day of moderate-in.en.ity PA(n.10),an. very active≥60 min.day of PA at high in.en.ity(n.10).Participan.s completed an.oral glucose toleran.e test(50 g glucose)with capillary blood samples obtain.d at baselin.,15 min.30 min.45 min.60 min.90 min.an. 120 min.post-in.estion.Results:There were n. sign.fican. differen.es between.groups for age or body fat percen.age or glycated hemoglobin.p>0.05).The groups were sign.fican.ly differen. in.terms of baselin. glucose level(p=0.003)an.,margin.lly,for gen.er(p=0.053)an. BMI(p=0.050).There was a statistically sign.fican. effect of PA on.the 1-h postpran.ial glucose results(p=0.029),with differen.es between.very active an. low activity groups(p=0.008)but n.t between.the moderately active an. low activity groups(p=0.360),even.when.baselin. glucose level an. gen.er differen.es were accoun.ed for.For in.remen.al area un.er the curve there was n. sign.fican. effect of activity group on.e gen.er an. body fat percen.age had been.accoun.ed for(p=0.401).Those in.the low activity group took 15 min.lon.er to reach peak glucose level than.those in.the very active group(p=0.012).Con.lusion.The results suggest that high levels of PA have a ben.ficial effect on.postpran.ial blood glucose profiles when.compared to low an. moderate levels of activity.
