Synergistic Effect of Alloying Atoms on Intrinsic Stacking-Fault Energy in Austenitic Steels

Intrinsic stacking-fault energy is a critical parameter influencing the various mechanical performances of aus- tenitic steels with high Mn concentrations. However, quantitative calculations of the stacking-fault energy （SFE） of the face-centered cubic （fcc） Fe, including the changes in concentrations and geometrical distribution of alloying atoms, cannot be obtained by using previous computation models. On the basis of the interaction energy model, we evaluated the effects of a single alloying atom （i.e., Mn, A1, Si, C and N）, as well as its aggregates, including the Mn-X dimer and Mn2-X trimer （X = A1, Si, C and N） on the SFE of the fcc Fe via first-principle calculations. Given low concentrations （〈10 wt%） of alloying atoms, dimers and trimers, theoretical calculations reveal the following：（1） Alloying atom Mn causes a decrease in the SFE, whereas A1, Si, C and N significantly increase the SFE; （2） combination with other alloying atoms to form the Mn-X dimer （X = A1, Si, C and N） exerts an effect on SFE that, to a certain extent, is close to that of the corresponding single X atom; （3） the interaction between Mnz-X and the stacking fault is stronger than that of the corresponding single X atom, inducing a significant increase in the SFE of fcc Fe. The theoretical results we obtained demonstrate that the increase in SFE in high-Mn steel originates from the synergistic effect of Mn and other trace alloy atoms.

Application of the Peierls–Nabarro Model to Symmetric Tilt Low-Angle Grain Boundary with Full Dislocation in Pure Magnesium

Three types of symmetric （1120） tilt low-angle grain boundaries （LAGBs） with array of basal, prismatic, and pyramidal edge full 〈a〉 dislocations in pure Mg have been studied by using the improved Peierls-Nabarro model in combination with the generalized stacking fault energy curve. The results show that with decreasing distance between the dislocations in all the three types of tilt LAGBs, the stress and strain fields are gradually suppressed. The reduction extent of the stress and strain fields decreases from the prismatic to basal to pyramidal dislocations. The variation of dislocation line energy （DLE） for all tilt LAGBs is divided into three stages： DLE changes slightly and linearly when the distance is larger than 300 A, - 10%; DLE declines exponentially and quickly when the distance goes from 300 to 100 A, ,- 70%; and finally, the descent speed lowers when the distance is smaller than 100 A and the dislocation core energy is nearly half of the DLE. The grain boundary energy （GBE） decreases when the tilt angle of LAGB increases from1 ° to 2° for all cases. The tilt LAGB consists of pyramidal dislocations always has the largest GBE, while that with array of prismatic dislo- cations has the smallest one in the whole range. The Peierls stress of dislocation in tilt LAGB is nearly unchanged, the same as that of single dislocation. This work is useful for further study of dissociated dislocation, solute segregation, precipitate nucleation in tilt LAGB and its interaction with single dislocations.

First-principles calculations within generalized gradient approximation have been performed to investigate ideal strengths of anti-fluorite structured Mg_(2)X(X¼Si,Ge,Sn and Pb)*** present calculations showed that the ideal tensile strengths of Mg_(2)X occur in the[111]directions while the ideal shear strengths appear in the(111)[11-2]*** ideal tensile strength and shear strength of Mg_(2)X(X¼Si,Ge,Sn and Pb)decreased gradually with the increase of atomic number of *** microscopic process and inherent mechanisms of mechanical properties were discussed from the evolution of electronic structures during strain.

Investigation of Maxima Assumptions in Modelling Tropical Cyclone- Induced Hazards in the South China Sea

The present study aims to examine the suitability of two commonly used assumptions that simplify modelling metoceanconditions for designing offshore wind turbines in the South China Sea (SCS). The first assumption assumes thatjoint N-year extreme wind and wave events can be independently estimated and subsequently combined. The secondone assumes peak wind and waves can be modelled as occurring simultaneously during a tropical cyclone (TC) *** better understand the potential TC activity, a set of 10000 years synthetic TC events are generated. The wind fieldmodel and the Mike 21 spectral wave model are employed to model the TC-induced hazards. Subsequently, theeffect of the assumptions is evaluated by analyzing the peak structural response of both monopile and semisubmersibleoffshore wind turbines during TC events. The results demonstrate that the examined assumptions are generally *** assessing the implications of these assumptions, valuable insights are obtained, which can inform andimprove the modelling of TC-induced hazards in the SCS region.

Solvent-free carbon sphere nanofluids towards intelligent lubrication regulation

By simply switching the electrical circuit installed on steel/steel contact,the tribological behaviors of nanofluids(NFs)can be regulated in real time,thereby achieving the desired performance of friction reduction and wear ***,solvent-free carbon spherical nanofluids(C-NFs)were successfully prepared for intelligent lubrication regulation.C-NFs with excellent lubrication performance can immediately reduce the coefficient of friction(COF)despite applying a weak electric potential(1.5 V).Moreover,polyethylene glycol 400(PEG400)containing 5.0 wt%C-NFs remained responsive to electrical stimulation under the intermittent voltage application with an average coefficient of friction(ACOF)reduction of 20.8%over *** intelligent lubrication regulation of C-NFs under an external electric field(EEF)mainly depends on the orderly arranged double-electric adsorption film of ion canopy-adsorbed carbon spheres(CSs).The intermittent electrical application can continuously reinforce the adsorption film and its durability for real-time controlling the sliding ***-stimulation-responsive intelligent lubricants provide a new technical support for realizing intelligent stepless control of devices.

The Fengcheng Formation is a crucial source rock and the primary reservoir for oil accumulation in the Mahu *** oils are distributed throughout the Fengcheng Formation,ranging from the edge to the interior of the sag in the southern Mahu *** crude oils originate from in-situ source rocks in shallowly buried areas and the inner deep *** migration,the crude oil from the inner deep sag affects the source rocks close to carrier beds,leading to changes in the organic geochemical characteristics of the source *** changes might alter source rock evaluations and oil-source *** on data such as total organic carbon(TOC),Rock-Eval pyrolysis of source rocks,and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)of the saturated fraction,and considering the geological characteristics of the study area,we define the identification characteristics of source rock affected by migrated hydrocarbons and establish the various patterns of influence that migrated hydrocarbons have on the source rock of the Fengcheng Formation in the southern Mahu *** source rocks of the Fengcheng Formation are mostly fair to good,containing mainly Type II organic matter and being thermally mature enough to generate *** rocks affected by migrated hydrocarbons exhibit relatively high hydrocarbon contents(S1/TOC>110 mg HC/g TOC,Extract/TOC>30%,HC:hydrocarbon),relatively low Rock-Eval Tmax values,and relatively high tricyclic terpane contents with a descending and mountain-shaped ***,biomarker composition parameters indicate a higher thermal maturity than in-situ source *** a comparison of the extract biomarker fingerprints of adjacent reservoirs and mudstones in different boreholes,three types of influence patterns of migrated hydrocarbons are identified:the edge-influence of thin sandstone-thick mudstone,the mixed-influence of sandstone-mudstone interbedded,and the full-influence of thick sandstone-thin *** finding reminds

Small tracking error correction for moving targets of intelligent electro-optical detection systems

Small tracking error correction for electro-optical systems is essential to improve the tracking precision of future mechanical and defense *** threats,such as“low,slow,and small(LSS)”moving targets,pose increasing challenges to *** core goal of this work is to address the issues,such as small tracking error correction and aiming control,of electro-optical detection systems by using mechatronics drive modeling,composite velocity–image stability control,and improved interpolation filter design.A tracking controller delay prediction method for moving targets is proposed based on the Euler transformation model of a two-axis,two-gimbal cantilever beam coaxial *** tracking error formation is analyzed in detail to reveal the scientific mechanism of composite control between the tracking controller’s feedback and the motor’s velocity–stability *** improved segmental interpolation filtering algorithm is established by combining line of sight(LOS)position correction and multivariable typical tracking fault ***,a platform with 2 degrees of freedom is used to test the *** LSS moving target shooting object with a tracking distance of S=100 m,target board area of A=1 m^(2),and target linear velocity of v=5 m/s is *** show that the optimal method’s distribution probability of the tracking error in a circle with a radius of 1 mrad is 66.7%,and that of the traditional method is 41.6%.Compared with the LOS shooting accuracy of the traditional method,the LOS shooting accuracy of the optimized method is improved by 37.6%.

Study of the blocking mechanism in gravel packing based on CFD-DEM
