Background:This study aimed to determine the effect of different carbohydrate(CHO)doses on exercise capacity in patients with McArdle disease—the paradigm of“exercise intolerance”,characterized by complete muscle glycogen unavailability—and to determine whether higher exogenous glucose levels affect metabolic responses at the McArdle muscle cell(in vitro)***:Patients with McArdle disease(n=8)and healthy controls(n=9)underwent a 12-min submaximal cycling constant-load bout followed by a maximal ramp test 15 min after ingesting a non-caloric *** a randomized,double-blinded,cross-over design,patients repeated the tests after consuming either 75 g or 150 g of CHO(glucose:fructose=2:1).Cardiorespiratory,biochemical,perceptual,and electromyographic(EMG)variables were ***,glucose uptake and lactate appearance were studied in vitro in wild-type and McArdle mouse myotubes cultured with increasing glucose concentrations(0.35,1.00,4.50,and 10.00 g/L).Results:Compared with controls,patients showed the“classical”second-wind phenomenon(after prior disproportionate tachycardia,myalgia,and excess electromyographic activity during submaximal exercise,all p<0.05)and an impaired endurance exercise capacity(-51%ventilatory threshold and55%peak power output,both p<0.001).Regardless of the CHO dose(p<0.05 for both doses compared with the placebo),CHO intake increased blood glucose and lactate levels,decreased fat oxidation rates,and attenuated the second wind in the ***,only the higher dose increased ventilatory threshold(+27%,p=0.010)and peak power output(+18%,p=0.007).In vitro analyses revealed no differences in lactate levels across glucose concentrations in wild-type myotubes,whereas a doseresponse effect was observed in McArdle ***:CHO intake exerts beneficial effects on exercise capacity in McArdle disease,a condition associated with total muscle glycogen *** of these benefits are dose dependent.

Core samples from the deeply buried Ordovician Majiagou Formation below the Huainan Coalfield(E China) have been investigated for their carbonate types,major and trace elements(including rare earth elements) and C and O isotopes,The objective was to get a better insight into the possible occurrences of gas(and possibly oil) derived from Carboniferous *** was found that the carbonates are dolomites with strongly varying amounts of CaO and *** low concentrations of SiO_(2),Al_(2)O_(3),and Fe_(2)O_(3)indicate deposition in a normal marine environment with little terrigenous input,The Na_(2)O/K_(2)O,Fe/Mn and Sr/Ba ratios,as well as the Ga values indicate mainly a marine salinity and a hot and humid *** slight depletion of Ce and Eu,the depletion of heavy rare earth elements(HREE) and the enrichment of light rare earth elements(LREE) indicate deposition in a reducing *** thus appears that the Majiagou Formation below the Huainan Coalfield closely resembles that in the eastern part of the Ordos Basin,where several gas reservoirs are present,so that the Majiagou Formation under the Huainan Coalfield represents a promising target for hydrocarbon exploration.

Hanbury-Brown-Twiss(HBT) correlations for charged pions in central Au+Au collisions at √SNN=2.4-7.7 GeV(corresponding to beam kinetic energies in the fixed target frame from Elab=1.23 to 30 GeV/nucleon) are calculated using the ultra-relativistic quantum molecular dynamics model with different equations of state(EoSs).The effects of a phase transition at high baryon densities are clearly observed in the explored HBT *** results show that the available data on the HBT radii,RO/RSand R^(2)_(O)-R^(2)_(S),in the investigated energy region favor a relatively stiff EoS at low beam energies,which then turns into a soft EoS at high collision energies consistent with astrophysical constraints on the high-density EoS of quantum chromodynamics(QCD).The specific effects of two different phase transition scenarios on RO/RSand R^(2)_(O)-R^(2)_(S)are investigated.A phase transition with a significant softening of the EoS below four times the nuclear saturation density can be excluded using HBT *** results highlight that the pion’s RO/RSand R^(2)_(O)-R^(2)_(S)are sensitive to the stiffness of the EoS and can be used to constrain and understand the QCD EoS in a high baryon density region.

Cyber-Physical Systems are very vulnerable to sparse sensor *** current protection mechanisms employ linear and deterministic models which cannot detect attacks ***,in this paper,we propose a new non-linear generalized model to describe Cyber-Physical *** model includes unknown multivariable discrete and continuous-time functions and different multiplicative noises to represent the evolution of physical processes and randomeffects in the physical and ***,the digitalization stage in hardware devices is represented *** and most critical sparse sensor attacks are described through a stochastic *** reconstruction and protectionmechanisms are based on aweighted *** probability in data samples is estimated through different indicators commonly employed in non-linear dynamics(such as the Fourier transform,first-return maps,or the probability density function).A decision algorithm calculates the final reconstructed value considering the previous error *** experimental validation based on simulation tools and real deployments is also carried ***,the new technology performance and scalability are *** prove that the proposed solution protects Cyber-Physical Systems against up to 92%of attacks and perturbations,with a computational delay below 2.5 *** proposed model shows a linear complexity,as recursive or iterative structures are not employed,just algebraic and probabilistic *** conclusion,the new model and reconstructionmechanism can protect successfully Cyber-Physical Systems against sparse sensor attacks,even in dense or pervasive deployments and scenarios.
