Risk factors of non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy and central retinal artery occlusion

AIM:To investigate the difference in risk factors between non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy(NAION)and central retinal artery occlusion(CRAO)and develop a predictive diagnostic ***:The study included 37 patients with monocular NAION,20 with monocular CRAO,and 24 with ***,age,and systemic diseases were *** routine,lipids,hemorheology,carotid and brachial artery doppler ultrasound,and echocardiography were *** optic disc area,cup area,and cup-to-disc ratio(C/D)of the unaffected eye in the NAION and CRAO group and the right eye in the hypertension group were ***:The carotid artery intimal medial thickness(C-IMT)of the affected side of the CRAO group was thicker(P=0.039)and its flow-mediated dilation(FMD)was lower(P=0.049)than the NAION *** with hypertension patients,NAION patients had higher whole blood reduced viscosity low-shear(WBRV-L)and erythrocyte aggregation index(EAI;P=0.045,0.037),and CRAO patients had higher index of rigidity of erythrocyte(IR)and erythrocyte deformation index(EDI;P=0.004,0.001).The optic cup and the C/D of the NAION group were smaller than the other two groups(P<0.0001).The diagnostic prediction model showed high diagnostic specificity(83.7%)and sensitivity(85.6%),which was highly related to hypertension,the C-IMT of the affected side,FMD,platelet(PLT),EAI,and C/***:CRAO patients show thicker C-IMT and worse endothelial function than *** and CRAO may be related to abnormal hemorheology.A small cup and small C/D may be involved in *** diagnostic nomogram can be used to preliminarily identify NAION and CRAO.

The aim of this study was to investigate the role of DOPS and DOPS100 in attenuating immune dysfunction in subfertile mice. The results of the study revealed several noteworthy findings. First， DOPS and DOPS100 treatments led to significant improvement in weight gain and reversal of fatigue-related behaviors compared to the normal group. Second， both DOPS and DOPS100 showed effectiveness in reducing immune organ swelling， modulating immunoglobulin （IgA and IgM） levels， and restoring complement （C3c and C4） levels. In addition， they demonstrated a significant ability to enhance the integrity of the intestinal mechanical barrier by differentially upregulating the tight junction proteins Occludin and ZO-1. In addition， it was found that DOPS100 specifically enhanced the CD4+-Th17/Treg immune axis in the gut， as evidenced by increased expression of Foxp3 as well as decreased expression of RORγt， and further modulation of IL-10， IL-22， and IL-17A expression levels of inflammatory factors. These findings collectively suggest that DOPS100 holds significant potential in improving sub-healthy status by repairing the intestinal barrier， restoring local immune homeostasis， and activating the intestinal immune regulatory network. The study's outcomes provide valuable insights into the therapeutic implications of DOPS and DOPS100 in addressing immune dysfunction in sub-healthy conditions.

New approaches in agent-based modeling ofcomplex financial systems

Agent-based modeling is a powerful simulation technique to understand the collective behavior and microscopic interaction in complex financial systems. Recently, the concept for determining the key parameters of agent-based models from empirical data instead of setting them artificially was sug- gested. We first review several agent-based models and the new approaches to determine the key model parameters from historical market data. Based on tile agents＇ behaviors with heterogeneous personal preferences and interactions, these models are successful in explaining the microscopic origi- nation of the temporal and spatial correlations of financial markets. We then present a novel paradigm combining big-data analysis with agent-based modeling. Specifically, from internet query and stock market data, we extract the information driving forces and develop an agent-based model to simulate the dynamic behaviors of complex financial systems.

General Higher-Order Breather and Hybrid Solutions of the Fokas System

Fokas system is the simplest(2+1)-dimensional extension of the nonlinear Schr?dinger(NLS) equation(Eq.(2), Inverse Problems 10(1994) L19-L22). By appropriately limiting on soliton solutions generated by the Hirota bilinear method, the explicit forms of n-th breathers and semi-rational solutions for the Fokas system are derived. The obtained first-order breather exhibits a range of interesting dynamics. For high-order breather, it has more rich dynamical behaviors. The first-order and the second-order breather solutions are given graphically. Using the long wave limit in soliton solutions, rational solutions are obtained, which are used to analyze the mechanism of the rogue wave and lump respectively. By taking a long waves limit of a part of exponential functions in f and g appeared in the bilinear form of the Fokas system, many interesting hybrid solutions are constructed. The hybrid solutions illustrate various superposed wave structures involving rogue waves, lumps, solitons, and periodic line waves. Their rather complicated dynamics are revealed.

Bladder preservation in complicated invasive urothelial carcinoma following treatment with cisplatin/gemcitabine plus tislelizumab:A case report

BACKGROUND Invasive urothelial carcinoma(UC)with squamous and glandular differentiation is a highly malignant and complicated pathological subtype,and the standard care is radical cystectomy(RC).However,urinary diversion after RC significantly reduces patient quality of life,thus bladder-sparing therapy has become a research hotspot in this ***,five immune checkpoint inhibitors have been approved for systemic therapy of locally advanced or metastatic bladder cancer by the Food and Drug Administration,but the efficacy of immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy for invasive UC is still unknown,especially for pathological subtypes with squamous and glandular *** SUMMARY We report the case of a 60-year-old male who complained of repetitive painless gross hematuria and was diagnosed with muscle-invasive bladder cancer with squamous and glandular differentiation,defined as cT3N1M0 according to the American Joint Committee on Cancer,who had a strong desire to preserve the *** staining revealed that programmed cell deathligand 1(PD-L1)expression in the tumor was ***,a transurethral resection to maximize removal of the bladder tumor was performed under cystoscopy,and the patient subsequently received a combination of chemotherapy(cisplatin/gemcitabine)and immunotherapy(tislelizumab)*** tumor recurrence in the bladder was observed following pathological and imaging examination after 2 cycles and 4 cycles of treatment,*** patient achieved bladder preservation and has been tumor-free for more than two *** This case shows that the combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy might be an effective and safe treatment strategy for PD-L1 expression positive UC with divergent histologic differentiation.

Millet agriculture,which originated in northern China,alongside rice agriculture,have nurtured the Chinese *** manuring practices likely promoted and maintained sustainable millet agricultural production in the loess area of northern ***,ongoing controversy exists regarding the indicators of prehistoric manuring intensity of foxtail millet(Setaria italica)and common millet(Panicum miliaceum).Here,we present the results of pot and field fertilization experiments on two millet *** findings suggest that manuring can significantly increase the δ^(15)N values of foxtail millet,and its δ^(15)N values increase with increasing manuring *** δ^(15)N values of foxtail millet leaves are systematically greater than those of grains by approximately 1.6‰.Manuring could have a long-term residual impact on increasing the δ^(15)N values of soil and millet *** with previous crop fertilization experiment results,we propose that the impact of manuring on the δ^(15)N values of non-nitrogen-fixing crops is roughly *** δ^(15)N value and amount of manure are key factors determining the extent of change in plant δ^(15)N *** millet grain δ^(15)N values can serve as reliable indicators of manuring ***,we provide an interpretive framework for assessing the correlation between manuring levels and the δ^(15)N values of archaeological millet *** δ^(15)N values of ancient millet grains suggest widespread and intensive manuring practices in prehistoric millet agriculture in northern China,spanning from the early Yangshao period to the Longshan period.

Optimizing mechanical properties of HIPS fabricated with low-cost desktop 3D printers:investigating the impact of process parameters

Recently,low-cost desktop three-dimensional(3D)printers,employing the fused deposition modeling(FDM)technique,have gained widespread ***,most users cannot test the strength of printed parts,and little information is available about the mechanical properties of printed high-impact polystyrene(HIPS)parts using desktop 3D *** this study,the user-adjustable parameters of desktop 3D printers,such as crisscross raster orientation,layer thickness,and infill density,were *** experimental plans were designed using the Box-Behnken method,and tensile,3-point bending,and compression tests were carried out to determine the mechanical responses of the printed *** prediction models of the process parameters were regressed to produce the optimal combination of process *** experimental results showcase that the crisscross raster orientation has significant effects on the flexural and compression strengths,but not on the tensile *** an increase in the layer thickness,the tensile,flexural,and compression strengths first decreased and then increased,reaching their minimum values at approximately 0.16 mm layer *** addition,they all increased with an increase of infill *** was demonstrated that when the raster orientation,layer thickness,and infill density were 13.08°/–76.92°,0.09 mm,and 80%,respectively,the comprehensive mechanical properties of the printed HIPS were *** results can help end-users of desktop 3D printers understand the effects of process parameters on the mechanical properties,and offer practical suggestions for setting proper printing parameters for fabricating HIPS parts.
