Active exploratory behaviors have often been associated with theta oscillations in rodents,while theta oscillations during active exploration in non-human primates are still not well understood.We recorded neural activities in the frontal eye field(FEF)and V4 simultaneously when monkeys performed a free-gaze visual search task.Saccades were strongly phase-locked to theta oscillations of V4 and FEF local field potentials,and the phase-locking was dependent on saccade direction.The spiking probability of V4 and FEF units was significantly modulated by the theta phase in addition to the time-locked modulation associated with the evoked response.V4 and FEF units showed significantly stronger responses following saccades initiated at their preferred phases.Granger causality and ridge regression analysis showed modulatory effects of theta oscillations on saccade timing.Together,our study suggests phase-locking of saccades to the theta modulation of neural activity in visual and oculomotor cortical areas,in addition to the theta phase locking caused by saccade-triggered responses.

In this study,the transverse vibration of a traveling beam made of functionally graded material was analyzed.The material gradation was assumed to vary continuously along the thickness direction of the beam in the form of power law exponent.The effect of the longitudinally varying tension due to axial acceleration was highlighted,and the dependence of the tension on the finite support rigidity was also considered.A complex governing equation of the functionally graded beam was derived by the Hamilton principle,in which the geometric nonlinearity,material properties and axial load were incorporated.The direct multiscale method was applied to the analysis process of an axially moving functionally graded beam with timedependent velocity,and the natural frequency and solvability conditions were obtained.Based on the conditions,the stability boundaries of subharmonic resonance and combination resonance were obtained.It was found that the dynamic behavior of axial moving beams could be tuned by using the distribution law of the functional gradient parameters.

Isotopic dependence of the yield ratios of light fragments from different projectiles and their unified neutron skin thicknesses

The yield ratios of neutron-proton(R(n/p))and^(3)H-^(3)He(R(^(3)H∕^(3)He))with reduced rapidity from 0 to 0.5 were simulated at 50 MeV/u even-even ^(36−56)Ca+^(40)Ca,even-even ^(48−78)Ni+^(58)Ni,and ^(100−139)Sn(every third isotopes)+112 Sn for full reduced impact parameters using the isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics(IQMD)model.The neutron and proton density distributions and root-mean-square radii of the reaction systems were obtained using the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock model,which was used for the phase space initialization of the projectile and target in IQMD.We defined the unified neutron skin thickness asΔRnp=^(1∕2) n−^(1∕2)p,which was negative for neutron-deficient nuclei.The unifiedΔRnp values for nuclei with the same relative neutron excess from different isotopic chains were nearly equal,except for extreme neutron-rich isotopes,which is a type of scaling behavior.The yield ratios of the three isotopic chain-induced reactions,which depended on the reduced impact parameter and unified neutron skin thickness,were studied.The results showed that both R(n/p)and R(^(3)H∕^(3)He)decreased with a reduced impact parameter for extreme neutron-deficient isotopes;however,they increased with reduced impact parameters for extreme neutron-rich isotopes,and increased with theΔRnp of the projectiles for all reduced impact parameters.In addition,a scaling phenomenon was observed betweenΔR np and the yield ratios in peripheral colli-sions from different isotopic chain projectiles(except for extreme neutron-rich isotopes).Thus,R(n/p)and R(^(3)H∕^(3)He)from peripheral collisions were suggested as experimental probes for extracting the neutron or proton skin thicknesses of non-extreme neutron-rich nuclei from different isotopic chains.

Meiotic crossover(CO)formation between homologous chromosomes ensures their subsequent proper segregation and generates genetic diversity among offspring.In maize,however,the mechanisms that modulate CO formation remain poorly characterized.Here,we found that both maize BREAST CANCER SUSCEPTIBILITY PROTEIN 2(BRCA2)and AAA-ATPase FIDGETIN-LIKE-1(FIGL1)act as positive factors of CO formation by controlling the assembly or/and stability of two conserved DNA recombinases RAD51 and DMC1 filaments.Our results revealed that Zm BRCA2 is not only involved in the repair of DNA double-stranded breaks(DSBs),but also regulates CO formation in a dosage-dependent manner.In addition,Zm FIGL1interacts with RAD51 and DMC1,and Zmfigl1 mutants had a significantly reduced number of RAD51/DMC1 foci and COs.Further,simultaneous loss of Zm FIGL1 and Zm BRCA2 abolished RAD51/DMC1foci and exacerbated meiotic defects compared with the single mutant Zmbrca2 or Zmfigl1.Together,our data demonstrate that Zm BRCA2 and Zm FIGL1 act coordinately to regulate the dynamics of RAD51/DMC1-dependent DSB repair to promote CO formation in maize.This conclusion is surprisingly different from the antagonistic roles of BRCA2and FIGL1 in Arabidopsis,implying that,although key factors that control CO formation are evolutionarily conserved,specific characteristics have been adopted in diverse plant species.

Accurate measurement of the thin liquid film thickness in pipes is the foundation for studying the characteristics of the film.In this paper,an interferometry-based measurement of liquid film thickness in transparent pipes is developed,which can greatly improve the accuracy,extend the lower limit of measurement and provide a new technical approach for the calibration and traceability.The light intensity distribution is established based on the optical path analysis and a mathematical model.A new algorithm to solve the direction ambiguity is developed to reconstruct the phase distribution.Besides,the effect of the pipe wall is taken into account,which can be suppressed by image subtraction and enhancement technology.The proposed method is of high accuracy and robustness,whose reconstruction errors are 0.064%and 0.25%for the smooth and slight fluctuating liquid films,respectively.

Complex numbers are widely used in classical and quantum physics.Further,they play an important role in describing quantum systems and their dynamical behaviors.Herein,we propose several measures of the imaginarity of quantum states based on l1 norm and convex functions in the framework of resource theory.Further,we investigate the quantum state order after a quantum system passes through a real channel.Rigorous proof shows that these proposed measures possess all the desirable properties for a measure of imaginarity.The connection between the measure of imaginarity based on the l1 norm and the measure of imaginarity based on relative entropy is derived.Moreover,we demonstrate that the l1 norm-based and the relative entropy-based measures of imaginarity are of the same order for qubit quantum states.Further we discuss the influences of the bit flip channel,phase damping channel,and amplitude flip channel on single qubit state order.

To find a novel counter electrode(CE)material for quantum dot-sensitized solar cells(QDSSCs),pompon-like NiCo_(2)O_(4) nanospheres are synthesized by a facile solvothermal and post-calcination method and we attempt to apply it as a CE material for QDS SC.The catalytic performance of NiCo_(2)O_(4) counter electrode is investigated in detail through electrochemical impedance spectroscopy,Tafel test and cyclic voltammetry.The catalytic activity of NiCo_(2)O_(4) CE is superior to that of nanoflower-like Cu2S CE and traditional Cu2S/brass CE,which is mainly attributed to the large specific surface area,outstanding electrical conductivity of bimetallic oxides and the synergistic promotion effect of metals with different valence states.Under standard sunlight(air mass AM 1.5G 100 mW·cm^(-2)),the CdS/CdSe/ZnS-sensitized solar cell assembled with NiCo_(2)O_(4) CE achieved a photoelectric conversion efficiency of 5.55%,with a short current density of 22.49 mA·cm^(-2),an open circuit voltage of 0.574 V,and a fill factor of 0.43,which is slightly higher than the QDSSCs with nanoflower-like Cu_(2)S CE(4.75%)and traditional Cu_(2)S/brass CE(4.69%).This research provides ideas for discovering innovative and efficient CE materials for QDSSCs.

We study block-coherence measures based on the resource theory of block-coherence and coherence measures based on positive-operator-valued measures(POVM).Several blockcoherence measures are presented,including the block-coherence measure based on maximum relative entropy,the one-shot block-coherence cost under maximally block-incoherent operations,and the coherence measure based on coherent rank.Their relationships are obtained.Moreover,we describe the deterministic coherence dilution process by constructing blockincoherent operations.Based on the POVM coherence resource theory,we also propose two coherence measures and analyze their relationship.

Objective:To investigate the regulatory roles of Shexiang Baoxin Pill(SXBXW)in neointimal formation and vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs)invasion and apoptosis as well as the potential molecular mechanisms using cultured VSMCs model of vascular injury(platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF)-BBstimulated)in vitro.Methods:VSMCs were randomly assigned to 5 groups:blank,PDGF-BB(20 ng/mL+0.1%DMSO),SXBXW-L(PDGF-BB 20 ng/mL+SXBXW low dose 0.625 g/L),SXBXW-M(PDGF-BB 20 ng/mL+SXBXW medium dose 1.25 g/L)and SXBXW-H(PDGF-BB 20 ng/mL+SXBXW high dose 2.5 g/L)group.Cell proliferation was assessed using cell counting kit-8(CCK-8)assay and bromodeoxyuridine(BrdU)incorporation assay,the migration effects were detected by Transwell assay,cell apoptosis rate was measured by the Annexin V/propidium iodide(PI)apoptosis kit.The markers of contractile phenotype of VSMCs were detected with immunofluorescent staining.To validate the effects of miR-451 in regulating proliferation,migration and apoptosis treated with SXBXW,miR-451 overexpression experiments were performed,the VSMCs were exposed to PDGF-BB 20 ng/mL+0.1%DMSO and later divided into 4 groups:mimic-NC(multiplicity of infection,MOI=50),SXBXW(1.25 g/L)+mimic-NC,mimic-miR451(MOI=50),and SXBXW(1.25 g/L)+mimic-miR451,and alterations of proteins related to the miR-451 pathway were analyzed using Western blot.Results:PDGF-BB induced VSMCs injury causes acceleration of proliferation and migration.SXBXW inhibited phenotypic switching,proliferation and migration and promoted cell apoptosis in PDGF-BB-induced VSMCs.In addition,miR-451 was shown to be down-regulated in the VSMCs following PDGF-BB stimulation.SXBXW treatment enhanced the expression of miR-451 in PDGF-BB-induced VSMCs(Pting transcription factor 2(ATF2)was increased in VSMCs(P<0.05).Conclusion:SXBXW regu
