Free-surface flows, especially those associated with fluid-structure interactions(FSIs), pose challenging problems in numerical simulations. The authors of this work recently developed a smoothed particle element method(SPEM) to simulate FSIs. In this method, both the fluid and solid regions are initially modeled using a smoothed finite element method(S-FEM) in a Lagrangian frame, whereas the fluid regions undergoing large deformations are adaptively converted into particles and modeled with an improved smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH) method. This approach greatly improves computational accuracy and efficiency because of the advantages of the S-FEM in efficiently treating solid/fluid regions showing small deformations and the SPH method in effectively modeling moving interfaces. In this work, we further enhance the efficiency of the SPEM while effectively capturing local fluid information by introducing a multi-resolution technique to the SPEM and developing an effective approach to treat multi-resolution element-particle interfaces. Various numerical examples demonstrate that the multiresolution SPEM can significantly reduce the computational cost relative to the original version with a constant ***, the novel approach is effective in modeling various incompressible flow problems involving FSIs.

Field computation, an emerging computation technique, has inspired passion of intelligence science research. A novel field computation model based on the magnetic field theory is constructed. The proposed magnetic field computation （MFC） model consists of a field simulator, a non-derivative optimization algo- rithm and an auxiliary data processing unit. The mathematical model is deduced and proved that the MFC model is equivalent to a quadratic discriminant function. Furthermore, the finite element prototype is derived, and the simulator is developed, combining with particle swarm optimizer for the field configuration. Two benchmark classification experiments are studied in the numerical experiment, and one notable advantage is demonstrated that less training samples are required and a better generalization can be achieved.

As an inhibitor of the Notch signaling pathway, N-[N-(3,5-difluorohenacetyl)-l-alanyl]-S-phenylglycine tert-butyl ester(DAPT) may protect brain tissue from serious ischemic injury. This study aimed to explore neuroprotection by DAPT after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion(I/R) injury. DAPT was intraperitoneally injected 3 hours before the establishment of a focal cerebral I/R model in the right middle cerebral artery of obstructed mice. longa scores were used to assess neurological changes of mice. Nissl staining and TdT-mediated dUTP-biotin nick-end labeling staining were used to examine neuronal damage and cell apoptosis in the right prefrontal cortex, while immunofluorescence staining was used to detect glial fibrillary acidic protein-and Notch1-positive cells. Protein expression levels of Hes1 and Hes5 were detected by western blot assay in the right prefrontal cortex. Our results demonstrated that DAPT significantly improved neurobehavioral scores and relieved neuronal morphological damage. DAPT decreased the number of glial fibrillary acidic protein-and Notch1-positive cells in the right prefrontal cortex, while also reducing the number of apoptotic cells and decreasing interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α contents, and simultaneously downregulating Hes1 and Hes5 protein expression. These findings verify that DAPT alleviates pathological lesions and strengthens the anti-inflammatory response after cerebral I/R injury. Thus, DAPT might be developed as an effective drug for the prevention of cerebral I/R injury.

This paper proposes a robust auto-focus(AF) measure based on inner energy. In general, the inner energy of noise pixels is close to zero because the magnitude of gradient and the direction of the noise pixels are random. Therefore, the inner energy can effectively eliminate the influence of noise on image quality assessment. But the gradients of near edge points are consistent with those of edge points, so the inner energy of edge pixels is relatively large, and the detail information of the image can be highlighted. Experimental results indicate that compared with traditional methods, the proposed method has higher accuracy, fewer local peaks, stronger robustness and better practicability. In particular, the evaluation results are close to the subjective evaluation of the human eyes. These results illustrate that the proposed method can be applied in automatic focusing.

A total of 36 surface soil profiles were set at the wetlands in Qilihai Ancient Lagoon Wetlands,Tianjin,the surface soils of 0-20 cm depth were sampled at various use types of lands to provide information on the concentrations of heavy metals in the coastal *** concentrations of arsenic(As),cadmium(Cd),copper(Cu),lead(Pb),chromium(Cr)and zinc(Zn)were determined using inductively coupled plasma atomic absorption spectrometry(ICP-AES)to address the pollution levels in the sampling *** results showed that the concentrations of Cd,Cu in the soils disturbed by human activities intensively,the Phragmites australis marshes,the farmland,the brushes decreased in turn;among the sites,the concentrations of As,Cd and Cu were the highest in the soil of build-up areas,while the concentrations of Pb and Zn were the higher in the soil of *** mean concentrations of Cu,Cr,Cd,Pb,Zn and As in the soils of 0-20 cm depth were 38.74 mg/kg,83.52 mg/kg,0.19 mg/kg,34.27 mg/kg,121.7 mg/kg and 18.77 mg/kg,*** contamination indices of As were on the high pollution level in the soils of farmland and disturbed by human activities intensively;the concentrations of Cd in the soils of the marshes and farmland were at the moderate pollution level,while that in the soil disturbed by human activities intensively was at high pollution *** values of comprehensive contamination index demonstrated that the variation of As contents was the maximum in the soils,Cd pollution reached to a high *** index showed that As pollution was at moderate level,and Cd,Cu and Zn pollution were at slight level,and the Pb and Cr pollution wasn't found in the build-up areas.
