Background:Cancer susceptibility candidate gene 2(CASC2) exhibits low expression in different carcinomas and is involved in cancer progression.The aimed of this study was to assess the value of CASC2 as a prognostic marker for cancers.Methods:Two authors independently searched five databases for eligible studies from inception to June 2,2022.Combined hazard ratios(HRs),odds ratios(ORs),and 95% confidence intervals(CIs) were calculated using Review Manager 5.4.Stata MP 16.0 was utilized to perform the publication bias and sensitivity analyses.We validated the results by Gene Expression Profiling Interaction Analysis 2(GEPIA2).Results:Twenty studies involving 1414 people encompassing 11 malignancies across five systems,were considered.CASC2 downregulation was markedly correlated with shorter overall survival(OS) in cancer patients(HR= 0.49;95% CI,0.41–0.60;P<0.00001).Furthermore,CASC2 downregulation was associated with advanced TNM stage(OR= 0.32;95% CI,0.25–0.42;P<0.00001),larger tumor size(OR= 0.48;95% CI,0.31–0.75;P= 0.001),and poor tumor differentiation(OR= 0.39;95% CI,0.27–0.56;P<0.00001) but not with age,sex,or distant metastasis.CASC2 downregulation was directly related to poor differentiation in digestive system cancers(OR= 0.53;95% CI,0.31–0.91;P= 0.02).Low CASC2 expression was related to negative lymph node metastasis in digestive system(OR= 1.96;95% CI,1.08–3.55;P= 0.03) and female reproductive system cancers(OR= 2.11;95% CI,1.16–3.85;P= 0.01).Conclusions:CASC2 expression is directly correlated with prognostic and clinicopathological characteristics in tumor patients,indicating that CASC2 might be a viable therapeutic target and a predictor of poor prognosis.

Nickel–cobalt tellurides are deemed as promising electrode materials for energy storage devices due to their superior conductivity and theoretical specific capacitance.Here,NiCoTe_(2)was successfully fabricated on carbon cloth by facile electrodeposition and hydrothermal synthesis,which can directly serve as a binderless electrode.The NiCoTe_(2)with interconnected nanosheet arrays on a conductive carbon substrate showed a high specific capacitance(924 F/g at 1 A/g)and robust longterm cycling stability(89.6%retention after 5000 cycles).In addition,the assembled NiCoTe_(2)//activiated carbon hybrid supercapacitor achieved a high energy and power density with a short charging time(42.26 Wh/kg at a power density of 760.96 W/kg).This work provides a novel idea to produce bimetallic nickel–cobalt telluride nanosheet array electrodes for high-performance hybrid supercapacitors.

Printable microlaser arrays with programmable modes for information encryption

Lasing emissions with multiple and tunable modes are promising in coding field as a novel cryptographic primitive.With the advantages of simple fabrication,full-color and high-quality-factor whispering gallery mode lasing inside a circular cross-section,polymer microfibers are attractive for photonic devices.However,polymer lasing microfibers for information encryption have never been reported.Herein,we propose a design of printable lasing microfiber encryption chip by in-situ tuning the effective refractive index of the microresonator arrays via a facile approach.Through inkjet printing high-refractive-index nanoparticles on the designated position of lasing microfiber arrays,the effective refractive index of the microcavities is regulated,and the ratio of wavenumber spacing between transverse electric and transverse magnetic mode to the free spectral range can be modulated,particularly with neglectable influence by the size factor.Thus,the programmable region selective encoding process can be conducted simply by a printing program within several minutes.Besides,the encoded microfiber arrays are encapsulated into polydimethylsiloxane to reduce the scattering loss and environmental interference,and a printable encryption chip is realized.This work is expected to provide a platform for the printable encrypted devices.

Habitual tea consumption can reduce the risk of ASCVD morbidity and mortality and all-cause mortality in China,and long-term adherence to this habit can provide greater protection.Pu-erh tea is one of the representatives of post-fermented teas,and the polymers in Pu-erh tea have anti-cancer and anti-hyperlipidemic activities,but their chemical composition is still unknown.In this study,the chemical composition of Pu-erh tea was investigated in detail and eight(1–8)known compounds were isolated.The polymers in Pu-erh tea were also degraded by thiol degradation,and the fragments of quercetin and(–)-epicatechin-3-O-gallate were found in the thiol degradation products of Pu-erh tea polymers by UPLC observation and separation and purification.This is the first time that this fragment was obtained in Pu-erh tea polymer.

RGB WGM lasing woven in fiber braiding cavity

It is critical to realize woven and wearable red-green-blue(RGB) whispering gallery mode(WGM)lasing that is tunable and flexible in the fiber braiding cavity. However, it is still a challenge to achieve tunable full-color lasing with the large color gamut by a facile approach. Here, we design the braiding cavity to realize RGB WGM lasing with high performance. The braiding cavity consists of three optical fibers coated with dye-doped polymer. Each fiber therein serves as a resonant cavity to support multiple lasing modes. There is no interference owing to the air gap between them; therefore, we can achieve full-color WGM lasing. The lasing emission in our fiber braiding cavity covers a color gamut of 86.7% larger than standard RGB space.Our work may provide a platform for potential applications in white laser and integrated optoelectronic devices.

A series of stringent non-pharmacological and pharmacological interventions were implemented to contain the pandemic but the pandemic continues.Moreover,vaccination breakthrough infection and reinfection in convalescent coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)cases have been reported.Further,severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)variants emerged with mutations in spike(S)gene,the target of most current vaccines.Importantly,the mutations exhibit a trend of immune escape from the vaccination.Herein the scientific question that if the vaccination drives genetic or antigenic drifts of SARS-CoV-2 remains elusive.We performed correlation analyses to uncover the impacts of wide vaccination on epidemiological characteristics of COVID-19.In addition,we investigated the evolutionary dynamics and genetic diversity of SARS-CoV-2 under immune pressure by utilizing the Bayesian phylodynamic inferences and the lineage entropy calculation respectively.We found that vaccination coverage was negatively related to the infections,severe cases,and deaths of COVID-19 respectively.With the increasing vaccination coverage,the lineage diversity of SARS-CoV-2 dampened,but the rapid mutation rates of the S gene were identified,and the vaccination could be one of the explanations for driving mutations in S gene.Moreover,new epidemics resurged in several countries with high vaccination coverage,questioning their current pandemic control strategies.Hence,integrated vaccination and non-pharmacological interventions are critical to control the pandemic.Furthermore,novel vaccine preparation should enhance its capabilities to curb both disease severity and infection possibility.

Prognostic value of the long noncoding RNA AFAP1-AS1 in cancers

Objective This meta-analysis explored whether the expression of actin filament-associated protein 1 antisense RNA 1(AFAP1-AS1)is related to the prognosis and clinicopathological features of patients with cancer.Methods PubMed,EMBASE,and Cochrane Library were systematically searched.Hazard ratios(HRs)with 95%confidence intervals(CIs)were used to assess the prognostic value based on overall survival(OS),disease-free survival(DFS),and progression-free survival(PFS).Odds ratios(ORs)with 95%CIs were used to determine the relationships between AFAP1-AS1 and clinicopathological features,such as large tumor size(LTS),high tumor stage(HTS),poor histological grade(PHG),lymph node metastasis(LNM),and distant metastasis(DM).Results Thirty-five eligible articles and 3433 cases were analyzed.High AFAP1-AS1 expression,compared to low AFAP1-AS1 expression,correlated with significantly shorter OS(HR=2.15,95%CI=1.97-2.34,P<0.001),DFS(HR=1.37,95%CI=1.19-1.57,P<0.001),and PFS(HR=1.97,95%CI=1.56-2.50,P<0.001)in patients with cancer.In various cancers,elevated AFAP1-AS1 expression was significantly associated with LTS(OR=2.76,95%CI=2.16-3.53,P<0.001),HTS(OR=2.23,95%CI=1.83-2.71,P<0.001),and PHG(OR=1.39,95%CI=1.08-1.79,P=0.01)but not LNM(OR=1.59,95%CI=0.88-2.85,P=0.12)or DM(OR=1.81,95%CI=0.90-3.66,P=0.10).Conclusion High AFAP1-AS1 expression was associated with prognostic and clinicopathological features,suggesting that AFAP1-AS1 is a prognostic biomarker for human cancers.

为提高钢筋混凝土锈蚀裂缝检测分类的效率和精度,提出了一种基于深度学习卷积神经网络(Convolutional Neural Network,CNN)的钢筋混凝土锈蚀裂缝识别模型SCNet(Steel CorrosionNet).首先通过原始数据采集和数据增强构建了39000张图片的裂缝数据集,然后利用TensorFlow学习框架和Python构建神经网络模型并进行训练测试,根据模型的训练精度和测试精度进行网络结构和网络参数的优化,最终将SCNet识别模型与两种传统检测方法进行对比.结果表明:文中所建立的SCNet三分类神经网络模型达到了96.8%的分类准确率,可以有效识别分类钢筋混凝土锈蚀裂缝,并且具有较高的准确率和可测性;在图像数据有阴影、扭曲等噪声干扰的条件下,两种传统检测方法已不能达到理想的分类效果,SCNet模型仍能表现出相对稳定的分类性能.

Nanoengineered polypeptides from tetraphenylethylene-functionalized N-carboxyanhydride: Synthesis, self-assembly and intrinsic aggregation-induced emission

Ring-opening polymerization of N-carboxyanhydrides(NCAs) bearing pendant groups creates functional polypeptides. In this paper, we report the design, synthesis and polymerization of tetraphenylethylene(TPE)-modified NCA, which is used to incorporate aggregation-induced emission(AIE)-active segments into polypeptides. Specifically, we attempted the synthesis of amphiphilic methoxy poly(ethyleneglycol)-block-poly(γ-benzyl-L-glutamate)-block-poly(γ-4-(1,2,2-triphenylvinyl)benzyl-L-glutamate)(PEG-PBLG-PTPELG), which had well-controlled molecular weight and narrow polydispersity. The hydrophilic PEG and hydrophobic PBLG-PTPELG assembled into micelles in aqueous solution with diameter around 70 nm, displaying AIE at 480 nm. Our work demonstrates that the TPE-modified NCA is applicable for the preparation of the AIE-active polypeptides, integrating the AIE luminogens into the polypeptides which may offer unique opportunities for tuning AIE properties by adjusting the composition and conformation of polypeptides. We preliminarily explored the use of the amphiphilic polypeptides for the formulation of doxorubicin-containing micelles that can potentially be used for real-time monitoring of the nanomedicine distribution.

常数模算法在无线通信系统的盲均衡中得到广泛的使用,为了进一步降低稳态误差通常选择将其与判决引导最小均方误差算法相结合,传统的双模切换盲均衡算法通过人为设定门限值实现两种算法的硬切换,其切换时机选择的合理性无法保证,不能充分凸显双模切换的长处。该文利用凸组合结构借助遵循一定规则迭代变化的联合参数将两种算法进行结合,实现两种算法模式的切换,自适应地选择切换时机,并通过对算法的修正和混合参数归一化的改进使在克服恢复信号相位偏转的同时加快了收敛速率、降低了稳态误差;另外,对稳态性能进行推导分析得到了理论的稳态模型。仿真结果证明稳态性能与模型推导结果保持一致,参数归一化改进所得效果较为明显,与同类其它双模切换算法相比具有更优的性能。
