This study investigates the activity of tropical cyclones(TCs)in the Bay of Bengal(BOB)from 1979 to 2018 to discover the mechanism affecting the contribution rate to the meridional moisture budget anomaly(MMBA)over the southern boundary of the Tibetan Plateau(SBTP).May and October–December are the bimodal phases of BOB TC frequency,which decreases month by month from October to December and is relatively low in ***,the contribution rate to the MMBA is the highest in *** seasonal variation in the meridional position of the westerlies is the key factor affecting the contribution *** relatively southern(northern)position of the westerlies in November and December(May)results in a lower(higher)contribution rate to the *** mechanism is confirmed by the momentum *** water vapor enters the westerlies near the trough line,the resultant meridional acceleration is directed *** follows that the farther north the trough is,and the farther north the water vapor can be *** water vapor enters the westerlies from the area near the ridge line,for Type-T(Type-R)TCs,water vapor enters the westerlies downstream of the trough(ridge).Consequently,the direction of the resultant meridional acceleration is directed south and the resultant zonal acceleration is directed east(west),which is not conducive to the northward transport of water *** is especially the case if the trough or ridge is relatively south,as the water vapor may not cross the SBTP.

In current documented studies,it has been observed that wavelength converters utilizing AlGaAsOI waveguides exhibit suboptimal on-chip wavelength conversion efficiency from the C-band to the 2μm band,generally falling below−20.0 *** address this issue,we present a novel wavelength conversion device assisted by a waveguide amplifier,incorporating both AlGaAs wavelength converter and erbium-ytterbium co-doped waveguide amplifier,thereby achieving a notable conversion efficiency exceeding 0 *** noteworthy enhancement in efficiency can be attributed to the specific dispersion design of the AlGaAs wavelength converter,which enables an upsurge in conversion efficiency to−15.54 dB under 100 mW of pump ***,the integration of an erbium-ytterbium co-doped waveguide amplifier facilitates a loss compensation of over 15 *** the use of external optical amplifiers,this device enables efficient and high-bandwidth wavelength conversion,showing promising applications in various fields,such as optical communication,sensing,imaging,and beyond.

The transport-of-intensity equation(TIE) enables quantitative phase imaging(QPI) under partially coherent illumination by measuring the through-focus intensities combined with a linearized inverse reconstruction algorithm. However, overcoming its sensitivity to imaging settings remains a challenging problem because of the difficulty in tuning the optical parameters of the imaging system accurately and because of the instability to long-time measurements. To address these limitations, we propose and experimentally validate a solution called neural-field-assisted transport-of-intensity phase microscopy(NFTPM) by introducing a tunable defocus parameter into neural field. Without weak object approximation, NFTPM incorporates the physical prior of partially coherent image formation to constrain the neural field and learns the continuous representation of phase object without the need for training. Simulation and experimental results of He La cells demonstrate that NFTPM can achieve accurate, partially coherent QPI under unknown defocus distances, providing new possibilities for extending applications in live cell biology.

Spinor Bose–Einstein condensates(BECs)are formed when atoms in the multi-component BECs possess single hyperfine spin states but retain internal spin degrees of *** study concentrates on a(1+1)-dimensional three-couple Gross–Pitaevskii system to depict the macroscopic spinor BEC waves within the meanfield *** the distribution of the atoms corresponding to the three vertical spin projections,a known binary Darboux transformation is utilized to derive the𝑁matter-wave soliton solutions and triple-pole matter-wave soliton solutions on the zero background,where𝑁is a positive *** those multiple matterwave solitons,the asymptotic analysis is performed to obtain the algebraic expressions of the soliton components in the𝑁matter-wave solitons and triple-pole matter-wave *** asymptotic results indicate that the matter-wave solitons in the spinor BECs possess the property of maintaining their energy content and coherence during the propagation and ***,in the𝑁matter-wave solitons,each soliton component contributes to the phase shifts of the other soliton components;and in the triple-pole matter-wave solitons,stable attractive forces exist between the different matter-wave soliton *** multiple matter-wave solitons are graphically illustrated through three-dimensional plots,density plot and contour plot,which are consistent with the asymptotic analysis *** present analysis may provide the explanations for the complex natural mechanisms of the matter waves in the spinor BECs,and may have potential applications in designs of atom lasers,atom interferometry and coherent atom transport.

Regional climate response to global warming in the source region of the Yellow River and its impact on runoff

The source region of the Yellow River has experienced obvious climate and discharge changes in recent decades due to global warming, which largely affects the water resources and ecological and environmental security in the Yellow River basin. This study analyzed the changes in runoff and several climate factors in the source region of the Yellow River based on the observed discharges at the Tangnag hydrological station, routine meteorological data from China Meteorological Administration(CMA) stations within and near this source region, and several evaporation datasets. The results indicate that the runoff in the source region was relatively abundant from 1960 to 1989 and then declined sharply afterward. It recovered slightly after 2005 but was still below normal—10% less than that during 1960–1989. Similarly, the precipitation amounts in the source region were relatively low in the 1990s, but they increased significantly after 2003, with an average increase of 31.4 mm or 6% more when compared to that in 1960–1989. In addition, the temperatures in the source region continued to rise from 1960 to 2017, and the evaporation levels also showed an upward trend after 1990. The influences of the spatial and temporal variations in climatic factors on runoff in the source region were then further analyzed. The results indicate that the decreases in precipitation and the number of days of heavy rainfall in the source region from 1990 to 2002 were important reasons for the lower runoff during this period. After 2003, the precipitation in the southeastern part of the source region, which is a key area for runoff generation,increased only to a limited extent, but the evaporation in the entire source region generally increased with increasing temperature,which might have led to the low capacity for actual runoff production in each subbasin and persistent low runoff in the source region. A new muon beam facility,called the Experimental Muon Source(EMuS),was proposed for construction at the China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS).The design of the complex muon beamlines for the EMuS baseline scheme,which is based on superconducting solenoids,superferric dipoles and room-temperature magnets,is presented *** muon beams,including surface muons,decay muons and low energy muons,have been developed for multipurpose *** optics design and simulation results of the trunk beamline and branch beamlines are *** a proton beam power of 25 kW at a standalone target station that consists of a conical graphite target and high-field superconducting solenoids,the muon beam intensity in the trunk beamline varies from 10^(7)/s for surface muons to 10^(10)/s for high-momentum decay *** at the endstations,these values vary from 10^(5)/s for surface muons to 10^(8)/s for decay muons.

In this study,the impact of different reaction times on the preparation of powdered activated carbon(PAC)using a one-step rapid activation method under flue gas atmosphere is investigated,and the underlying reaction mechanism is *** indicate that the reaction process of this method can be divided into three stages:stage I is the rapid release of volatiles and the rapid consumption of O_(2),primarily occurring within a reaction time range of 0-0.5 s;stage II is mainly the continuous release and diffusion of volatiles,which is the carbonization and activation coupling reaction stage,and the carbonization process is the main in this *** stage mainly occurs at the reaction time range of 0.5 -2.0 s when SL-coal is used as material,and that is 0.5-3.0 s when JJ-coal is used as material;stage III is mainly the activation stage,during which activated components diffuse to both the surface and interior of *** stage mainly involves the reaction stage of CO_(2)and H2O(g)activation,and it mainly occurs at the reaction time range of 2.0-4.0 s when SL-coal is used as material,and that is 3.0-4.0 s when JJ-coal is used as ***,the main function of the first two stages is to provide more diffusion channels and contact surfaces/activation sites for the diffusion and activation of the activated components in the third *** the reaction mechanism would serve as a crucial reference and foundation for designing the structure,size of the reactor,and optimal positioning of the activator nozzle in PAC preparation.

Tumor hypoxia severely limits the therapeutic efficacy of photodynamic therapy(PDT) for solid tumors,which is highly dependent on tissue oxygen *** this study,we developed a platinum(Ⅱ)-acetylide-based metallacycle compound bearing six 1,4-dimethylnaphthalenes(DMN) groups,and controlled the photodynamic and photothermal effects of the compound by adjusting the power of 730 nm laser to achieve reversible sensitization,storage and release of 1~O_(2) within a single *** compound formed nanoparticles by self-assembly and exhibited good water solubility and *** laser irradiation,the strong spin-orbit coupling of platinum atoms in the metallacycle facilitated 1~O_(2) *** produced 1~O_(2) was captured by the DMN carriers and transported into the hypoxic tumor,where 1~O_(2) release was triggered owing to the good photothermal effect of the extended conjugation of the *** therapy,the metallacycle serving as a photosensitizer,1~O_(2) carrier,and photothermal reagent,achieved the synergistic therapy of PDT/PTT,demonstrating the versatility of the *** study proposes a new strategy to develop phototherapy agents that are suitable for hypoxic tumors.
