Interannual variability(IAV)in the barrier layer thickness(BLT)and forcing mechanisms in the eastern equatorial Indian Ocean(EEIO)and Bay of Bengal(BoB)are examined using monthly Argo data sets during 2002–*** BLT during November–January(NDJ)in the EEIO shows strong IAV,which is associated with the Indian Ocean dipole mode(IOD),with the IOD leading the BLT by two *** the negative IOD phase,the westerly wind anomalies driving the downwelling Kelvin waves increase the isothermal layer depth(ILD).Moreover,the variability in the mixed layer depth(MLD)is *** by the Wyrtki jet,the MLD presents negative anomalies west of 85°E and strong positive anomalies between 85°E and 93°***,the BLT shows positive anomalies except between 86°E and 92°E in the ***,the IAV in the BLT during December–February(DJF)in the BoB is also *** the eastern and northeastern BoB,the IAV in the BLT is remotely forced by equatorial zonal wind stress anomalies associated with the El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO).In the western BoB,the regional surface wind forcing-related ENSO modulates the BLT variations.

Plasma surface alloying of element Nb in TiAl-based alloys and the oxidation behavior were studied. The composition and microstructure of the surface alloyed layers were investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy （SEM）,energy dispersive X-ray analysis （EDX）,and X-ray diffraction （XRD）. The experimental results indicate that the diffusion layers are formed on the TiAl substrate during the plasma niobizing process. The result from oxidation resistance investigation shows that plasma niobizing greatly improves the oxidation resistance of TiAl compared with the untreated TiAl. The role of element Nb for improving the oxidation resistance is considered to be achieved by strengthening the activity of Al,which is induced by the plasma niobizing process.

This work investigated the effect of glyco-regioisomerism of glycopolymers on their dynamic interaction with benzoxaborole-containing polymers. Two kinds of glycopolymers, P-1-Gal and P-6-Gal, i.e. galactoside pendant group linked to the identical main chain through its anomeric(C1) and C6-hydroxyl group position, respectively, were studied. We found that P-6-Gal showed stronger binding strength to the PNIPAM-co-PBOB polymer than P-1-Gal did, which controlled the macroscopic property of the resultant hydrogels at a molecular level.

A low-energy plasma electrolytic oxidation(LePEO)technique is developed to simultaneously improve energy efficiency and *** liquids(1-butyl-3-methylimidazole tetrafluoroborate(BmimBF_(4)))as sustainable corrosion inhibitors are chosen to investigate the corrosion inhibition behavior of ionic liquid(ILs)during the LePEO process for LA91 magnesium-lithium(Mg-Li)*** show that the ionic liquid BmimBF_(4)participates in the LePEO coating formation process,causing an increment in coating thickness and surface *** low conductivity of the ionic liquid is responsible for the voltage and breakdown voltage increases during the LePEO with IL process(LePEO-IL).After adding BmimBF_(4),corrosion current density decreases from 1.159×10^(−4)A·cm^(−2)to 8.143×10^(−6)A·cm^(−2).The impedance modulus increases to 1.048×10^(4)Ω·cm^(−2)and neutral salt spray remains intact for 24 *** superior corrosion resistance of the LePEO coating assisted by ionic liquid could be mainly attributed to its compact and thick barrier layer and physical absorption of ionic *** ionic liquid-assisted LePEO technique provides a promising approach to reducing energy consumption and improving film performance.

In this paper, we consider the distributed optimization problem, where the goal is to minimize the global objective function formed by a sum of agents' local smooth and strongly convex objective functions, over undirected connected graphs. Several distributed accelerated algorithms have been proposed for solving such a problem in the existing literature. In this paper, we provide insights for understanding these existing distributed algorithms from an ordinary differential equation(ODE) point of view. More specifically, we first derive an equivalent second-order ODE, which is the exact limit of these existing algorithms by taking the small step-size. Moreover, focusing on the quadratic objective functions, we show that the solution of the resulting ODE exponentially converges to the unique global optimal solution. The theoretical results are validated and illustrated by numerical simulations.

Activated carbon （AC） was modified by tri-butyl phosphate （TBP） for selectively extracting scandium from red mud and characterized by BET （Brunauer-Emmett-Teller） surface area. The modified AC had a preferential adsorption to scandium. The influences of adsorbent dos- age, adsorption temperature, and time on adsorption capacity and selectivity to scandium were examined. An optimum adsorbent dosage （-6.25 g/L）, adsorption temperature （308 K）, and adsorption time （40 min） were figured out. A pseudo-second-order kinetics model was employed for describing the adsorption process of scandium.

Metabolic network construction plays a pivotal role in unraveling the regulatory mechanism of biological activities,although it often proves to be challenging and labor-intensive,particularly with non-model *** this study,we develop a computational approach that employs reaction models based on the structure-guided chemical modification and related compounds to construct a metabolic network in *** construction results in a comprehensive structure-guided network,including 625 identified metabolites and additional 333 putative reactions compared with the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes *** a combination of gene annotation,reaction classification,structure similarity,and correlations from transcriptome and metabolome analysis,a total of 229 potential genes related to these reactions are identified within this *** validate the network,the functionality of a hydroxycinnamoyltransferase(TraesCS3D01G314900)for the synthesis of polyphenols and a rhamnosyltransferase(TraesCS2D01G078700)for the modification of flavonoids are verified through in vitro enzymatic studies and wheat mutant tests,*** research thus supports the utility of structure-guided chemical modification as an effective tool in identifying causal candidate genes for constructing metabolic networks and further in metabolomic genetic studies.

In short-term operation of natural gas network,the impact of demand uncertainty is not *** address this issue we propose a two-stage robust model for power cost minimization problem in gunbarrel natural gas *** demands between pipelines and compressor stations are uncertain with a budget parameter,since it is unlikely that all the uncertain demands reach the maximal deviation *** solving the two-stage robust model we encounter a bilevel problem which is challenging to *** formulate it as a multi-dimensional dynamic programming problem and propose approximate dynamic programming methods to accelerate the *** results based on real network in China show that we obtain a speed gain of 7 times faster in average without compromising optimality compared with original dynamic programming *** results also verify the advantage of robust model compared with deterministic model when facing *** findings offer short-term operation methods for gunbarrel natural gas network management to handle with uncertainties.
