Nanotechnology has taken a firm step.to revolutionize the field of orthop.dic imp.ants. Current research on bone imp.ants focuses to develop.imp.ants with multifaceted functions viz., osteoinduction, chemop.evention, antimicrobial action etc., esp.cially for cancerous bone resection. The objective of the p.esent study was to synthesize a novel comp.site for bone imp.ants, p.ssessing the above p.op.rties. Selenium was selected owing to its chemop.eventive and chemotherap.utic p.op.rties. Hydroxyap.tite was selected owing to its bioactivity and similarity in comp.sition to bone mineral p.op.rties. Selenium nanop.rticles were p.ep.red by chemical reduction method and coated with ***-coated selenium nanop.rticle（HASnp. was characterized p.ysico-chemically using fourier transform infrared sp.ctroscop., X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscop., and energy-disp.rsive X-ray *** was analysed in vitro using SaOS-2 cell line. Enhanced cell p.oliferation and alkaline p.osp.atase activity were observed in HASnp.treated cells. The results indicate that HASnp.is highly suitable for the use in orthop.dic ap.lications.

This p.p.r is categorized into two p.rts. （1） A frame work to design the aircraft wing structure and （2） analysis ofa morp.ing airfoil with auxetic structure. The develop.d design frame work in the first p.rt is used to arrive at the sizes of the various comp.nents of an aircraft wing structure. The strength based design is adop.ed, where the design loads are extracted from the aerodynamic loads. The aerodynamic loads acting on a wing structure are converted to equivalent distributed loads, which are further converted p.int loads to arrive at the shear forces, bending and twisting moments along the wing sp.n. Based on the estimated shear forces, bending and twisting moments, the strength based design is emp.oyed to estimate the sizes of various sections of a comp.site wing structure. A three dimensional numerical model of the comp.site wing structure has been develop.d and analyzed for the extreme load conditions. Glass fiber reinforced p.astic material is used in the numerical analysis. The estimated natural frequencies are observed to be in the accep.able limits. Furthermore, the discussed design p.incip.es in the first p.rt are extended to the design of a morp.ing airfoil with auxetic structure. The advantages of the morp.ing airfoil with auxetic structure are （i） larger disp.acement with limited straining of the comp.nents and （ii） unique deformation characteristics, which p.oduce a theoretical in-p.ane p.isson＇s ratio of -1. Aluminum Alloy AL6061-T651 is considered in the design of all the structural elements. The comp.iance characteristics of the airfoil are investigated through a numerical model. The numerical results are observed to be in close agreement with the exp.rimental results in the literature.

Temp.rature dep.ndent DC electrical conductivity studies of GeO2 substituted lead vanadate glass systems xGeO2(50-x)p.O:50V2O5 (x = 5, 10, 15 mole%) were carried out and the results are rep.rted. X-ray diffraction results reveal that all samp.es are p.rfect amorp.ous in nature. DSC results indicate that the substituent GeO2 is rep.acing p.O in the glass network in such a way that the eutectic comp.sition is maintained. DC electrical conductivity studies of the glass samp.es indicate that the systems are characterized by different activation energies in different temp.rature ranges which in turn dep.nd on the annealing temp.rature. These results are interp.eted in terms of temp.rature dep.ndent microstructural changes in these glass systems.

In the p.esent research, a series of 5,6-bis aryl 1,2,4-triazines 5a^5f were synthesized by condensation of various benzils 4a^4f with aminoguanidine bicarbonate and were screened in vivo, for their anticonvulsant and neurotoxicity studies. Comp.unds 5a, 5b and 5d were found to be p.tent molecules of this series, when comp.red with the reference drugs p.enytoin sodium, diazep.m and lamotrigine. The structures of these comp.unds were established by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass sp.ctroscop.c data.

Nano-sized trinitrotoluene(TNT) material restrained in silica gel has been p.ep.red by using the sol-gel p.ocess to study the effect of varying p.rosity in gel on the sensitivity of TNT. The TNT content in the gel has been varied from 60 to 90 wt %(at fixed acetone/tetramethoxysilane ratio of 50). Also, for a fixed TNT content of 75 wt %, the p.re structure in the gel has been varied by changing the ratio of silica gel p.ecursor to the solvent. The resultant TNT–silica gel comp.sites have been characterized using scanning electron microscop., thermal analysis, small angle X-ray scattering and surface area analysis techniques. Imp.ct sensitivity studies were carried out using Fall Hammer Imp.ct Test. The results showed that the sensitivity of nanostructured exp.osives p.ep.red by sol-gel p.ocess can be tailored p.ecisely by controlling the p.ocess p.rameters.

This p.p.r studies mixed convection,double disp.rsion and chemical reaction effects on heat and mass transfer in a non-Darcy non-Newtonian fluid over a vertical surface in a p.rous medium under the constant temp.rature and *** governing boundary layer equations,namely,momentum,energy and concentration,are converted to ordinary differential equations by introducing similarity variables and then are solved numerically by means of fourth-order Runge-Kutta method coup.ed with double-shooting *** velocity,temp.rature concentration,heat and mass transfer p.ofiles are p.esented grap.ically for various values of the p.rameters,and the influence of viscosity index n,thermal and solute disp.rsion,chemical reaction p.rameter χ are observed.

The study investigated the long-term effect of feeding p.ocessed solvent extracted karanj(p.ngamia glabra) cake(SKC) on gross p.thology and histop.thological changes in some vital organs, and on the activities of serum enzymes in Jalauni lambs. Twenty-four male lambs were divided into 4 group. and allotted randomly to a soybean meal(SBM) based control(CON) and 3 treatment group. receiving concentrate mixtures, containing water washed(WW), 2.5% lime(LM) and 0.4% binder(BN) treated SKC rep.acing 50% nitrogen of SBM to meet the p.otein requirements. Blood was collected after 150 days from all the lambs and serum activities of asp.rtate aminotransferase(AST), alanine aminotransferase(ALT)and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) were assayed. All lambs were sacrificed after 196 days, and vital organs screened for gross p.thological lesions. The rep.esentative tissues of liver, intestine, p.rathyroid gland,testis, and ep.didymis were samp.ed, p.eserved in 10% formalin and p.ocessed to examine histop.thological changes by staining with haematoxylin and eosin(HE). The serum enzyme activities of AST and ALT were similar in the treatments, but the activity of LDH was higher(p.p.ocessed SKC-fed group. than the control. The weight and size of the liver were decreased in BN group. while those of testes were decreased in both LM and BN group.. The histological sections of the testes and ep.didymis of lambs from LM group.showed hyp.p.astic seminiferous tubules and emp.y ductules, resp.ctively. The histological sections of the p.rathyroid gland in the same diet revealed smaller and non-secretory chief cells. The small intestine of lambs from BN group.showed infiltration of mononuclear cells(MNC) in lamina p.op.ia with mild fibrop.asia in intervillous areas. The histological section of liver from this group.showed MNC infiltration in p.rtal areas. The Rb-Sr whole-rock isochron,age 1636±66 Ma of Mirgarani granite,is the one of the oldest granite dated in the northwestern p.rt of the Chhotanagp.r Granite Gneiss Comp.ex(CGGC).The initial Sr ratio is 0.715±0.012(MSWD=0.11),showing an S-typ. *** Mirgarani granite has intruded the migmatite comp.ex of the Dudhi Group.and forms the Mirgarani formation comp.rable to the granites of the Bihar Mica Belt around Hazaribagh(1590±30 Ma).The p.esent studies have established the chronostratigrap.y of the Dudhi Group.and adjoining areas in ***-grap.ic and geochemical studies revealed that the granite is enriched in Rb(271 p.m),p.(77 p.m),Th(25 p.m),and U(33 p.m)and dep.eted in Sr(95 p.m),Nb(16 p.m),Ba(399 p.m)and Zr(143 p.m)contents as comp.red to the normal *** Mirgarani granite is a p.raluminous(A/CNK=1.23),high p.tassic(K_(2)O 6.42%),Calc-Alkalic to Alkali-Calcic{(Na_(2)O+K_(2)O)-CaO=6.29}S-Typ. granite,a feature sup.orted by the p.esence of modal garnet and normative corundum(2.68%).The Mirgarani granite is considered to have been formed by the anatexis of a crustal sedimentary p.otolith at a dep.h of ap.roximately 30 km with temp.ratures ranging from 685-700℃ during the Co-lumbian-Nuna Sup.rcontinent.

制革中用到的原料皮多为含水70％的蛋白质，极易受微生物的影响，因此转变成革前原料皮的防腐是必要的。传统防腐方法现仍在广泛使用，但是由于该过程使用的NaCl量高达40％～50％，产生大量的污染主要以总固体不溶物TDS、氯化物形式存在。因此化学家们基于降低污染为出发点对防腐方法做了大量研究，本文研究了少盐（5％中性盐及焦亚硫酸钠混合物）、无盐（仅用焦亚硫酸钠）防腐体系，从TDS减少量、微生物污染控制方面研究了生皮的物理、生化、微生物、热力学特征并比较了各类防腐方法制备的成革性能。

Introduction: Adhesive small bowel obstruction (SBO) is a disease p.ocess that has been difficult to p.event. Mechanical barriers and chemical agents exist to disrup. the formation of adhesions following surgery but each associated with medical risk and financial burden. Identifying risk factors for develop.ng SBO in p.tients p.st lap.rotomy would aid in the ap.rop.iate use of such agents. We hyp.thesize that there might be additional risk factors that are associated with a higher likelihood of SBO. Methods: A retrosp.ctive analysis from 2008 to 2012 was p.rformed. Cases of SBO following p.evious lap.rotomy were comp.red to those without SBO. Results: 468 medical records were reviewed (57% male). Op.rations that caused the highest risks for SBO included gynecological, colorectal and hernia op.rations with p.osthetic materials. 66% p.rcent of p.tients underwent a p.ior abdominal or p.lvic high-risk p.ocedure. The average time from surgery to the develop.ent of SBO was 24 months (median 19 months). p.tients who develop.d SBO had a median age of 58.4 years on initial surgery, average p.evious op.rative time of 4.3 hours, and an av-erage of two p.ior op.rations. For every hour of op.rative time, the odds of develop.ng SBO increased by 33% (p.3 decreased the odds of SBO (p.= 0.05). Conclusions: Longer op.rative times are associated with p.st-op.rative adhesive small bowel obstruction. p.tients with an ASA score greater than or equal to 3 ap.ear to have a reduced risk of adhesive small bowel obstruction.
