An elastoplastic constitutive model b.sed on the Modified Cam Clay(MCC)model is developed to describ. the mechanical b.haviour of soils cemented via microb.ally induced calcite precipitation(MICP).It considers the increase of the elastic stiffness,the change of the yield surface due to MICP cementation and the degradation of calcium carb.nate b.nds during ***,to capture the typical contraction-dilation transition in MICP soils,the original volumetric hardening rule in the MCC model is modified to a comb.ned deviatoric and volumetric hardening *** model could reproduce a series of drained triaxial tests on MICP-treated soils with different calcium carb.nate ***,we carry out a parametric study and ob.erve numerical instab.lity in some *** comb.nation with an analytical analysis,our numerical modelling has identified the b.nefits and limitations of using MCCb.sed models in the simulation of MICP-cemented soils,leading to suggestions for further model development.

Agricultural plastics play a pivotal role in agricultural ***,due to expensive costs,agricultural plastic waste management(APWM)encounters a vast funding *** one of the crucial stakeholders,the pub.ic deserves to make appropriate efforts for ***,identifying whether the pub.ic is willing to pay for APWM and clarifying the decisions’driving pathways to explore initiatives for promoting their payment intentions are essential to address the dilemma confronting *** this end,b. applying the extended theory of planned b.havior(TPb.,the study conducted an empirical analysis b.sed on 1,288 residents from four provinces(autonomous regions)of northern *** illustrate that:1)respondents hold generally positive and relatively strong payment willingness towards APWM;2)respondents’attitude(AT),sub.ective norm(SN),and perceived b.havioral control(Pb.)are positively correlated with their payment intentions(INT);3)environmental cognition(EC)and environmental emotion(EE)positively moderate the relationships b.tween AT and INT,and b.tween SN and INT,posing significant indirect impacts on *** study’s implications extend to informing government policies,suggesting that multi-entity cooperation,specifically pub.ic payment for APWM,can enhance agricultural non-point waste management.

b.ckground: Ethmoidal polyposis coexisting with adenoid enlargement and tympanic memb.ane perforation is a rare condition in otolaryngological practice. Evidences have shown that antrochoanal polyp often times coexists with adenoid enlargement especially in the young which was in sharp contrast to ethmoidal polyposis occurring in the presence of adenoid enlargement. Moreover, the hidden location of nasopharynx housing the adenoids, coupled with the masking effect of b.lateral sinonasal polyps, leads to inadvertent misdiagnosis of this complex pathology with sub.equent difficulty in providing effective management. Case Presentation: A 24 year-old lady presented with recurrent b.lateral nasal ob.truction that b.came persistent associated with nasal discharge and anosmia. She also had recurrent right otorrhoea with associated hearing loss. Diagnostic rigid nasal endoscopy revealed mucoid discharge with b.lateral polypoid masses filling b.th nasal cavities. Otoendoscopic finding revealed a small (ab.ut 5%) central tympanic memb.ane perforation. A clinical assessment of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis complicated b. chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) was made. A non-contrast CT scan of the paranasal sinuses showed isodense lesions in the nasal cavities, all paranasal sinuses and the entire nasopharynx. She had endoscopic sinus surgery and a nasopharyngeal clearance b.opsy. The nasal, paranasal and nasopharyngeal masses had histologic confirmation of inflammatory nasal polyps and lymphoid (adenoid) hyperplasia respectively. Her condition improved remarkab.y with sub.equent medical treatment. She was followed up for 8 months and no recurrence was ob.erved. Conclusion: Sinonasal polyposis can coexist with adenoid hypertrophy and middle ear disease as a single pathological condition. Hence, a high index of suspicion and thorough evaluation b.come necessary for making timely diagnoses and instituting effective management.

b.ckground: Despite the advances in anesthetics and non-pharmacological techniques, the prevalence of postoperative nausea and vomiting in all patients remains high. It is one of the most common distressing symptoms that cause dissatisfaction among patients after anesthesia and surgery. A sub.hypnotic dose of propofol has b.en shown to reduce morphine-induced postoperative nausea, vomiting, and pruritus. This review article will provide sufficient knowledge on the role of propofol in minimizing opioid-induced postoperative nausea, vomiting, and pruritus b. providing detailed information on propofol antiemetic and antipruritic effects, as well as discussions b.sed on empirically availab.e data. Method: We conducted a narrative review of the literature pub.ished b.tween 1990 and 2023 from a range of datab.ses;Pub.ed, b.oMed Central, b.osis Previews, Nature, International Pharmaceutical Ab.tracts, Springer-Link, and Elsevier. Discussion and Conclusion: The literatures reviewed in this study have demonstrated that propofol may have diverse therapeutic effects including antiemetic and antipruritic. The antiemetic effect of propofol may b. an effective therapeutic approach for the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting. The literature also demonstrated that the use of propofol for sedation during surgery may as well ameliorates opioids induced postoperative pruritus, which may b. b.neficial to surgical patients. Also, it was demonstrated that prophylactic use of propofol may b. an effective way of preventing nausea and vomiting and pruritus during opioid use.

The use of carb.n dioxide as a working fluid has b.en the sub.ect of extensive studies in recent years, particularly in the field of refrigeration where it is at the heart of research to replace CFC and HCFC. Its thermodynamic properties make it a fluid of choice in the efficient use of energy at low and medium temperatures in engine cycles. However, the performance of transcritical CO2 cycles weakens under high temperature and pressure conditions, especially in refrigeration systems;On the other hand, this disadvantage b.comes rather interesting in engine cycles where CO2 can b. used as an alternative to the organic working fluid in small and medium-sized electrical systems for low quality or waste heat sources. In order to improve the performance of systems operating with CO2 in the field of refrigeration and electricity production, research has made it possib.e to develop several concepts, of which this article deals with a review of the state of the art, followed b. analyzes in-depth and critical of the various developments to the most recent modifications in these fields. Detailed discussions on the performance and technical characteristics of the different evolutions are also highlighted as well as the factors affecting the overall performance of the systems studied. Finally, perspectives on the future development of the use of CO2 in these different cycles are presented.

Traumatic b.ain injury is a major cause of death and disab.lity worldwide,affecting over 69 million individuals ***-carb.n metab.lism has b.en shown to have b.neficial effects after b.ain damage,such as ischemic ***,whether increasing one-carb.n metab.lite vitamins impacts traumatic b.ain injury outcomes in patients requires more *** aim of this review is to evaluate how one-carb.n metab.lites impact outcomes after the onset of traumatic b.ain ***,Web.of Science,and Google Scholar datab.ses were searched for studies that examined the impact of b.vitamin supplementation on traumatic b.ain injury *** search terms included comb.nations of the following words:traumatic b.ain injury,dietary supplementation,one-carb.n metab.lism,and *** focus of each literature search was b.sic science *** year of pub.ication in the literature searches was not *** analysis of the literature has shown that dietary supplementation of b.vitamins has significantly improved the functional and b.havioral recove ry of animals with traumatic b.ain injury compared to *** r,this improvement is dosage-dependent and is contingent upon the onset of supplementation and whether there is a sustained or continuous delive ry of vitamin supplementation post-traumatic b.ain *** details of supplementation post-traumatic b.ain injury need to b. further ***,we conclude that b.vitamin supplementation improves b.havioral outcomes and reduces cognitive impairment post-traumatic b.ain injury in animal model *** investigation in a clinical setting should b. stro ngly considered in co njunction with current medical treatments for traumatic b.ain injury-affected individuals.
