This research assessed the experience of stakeholders and the efficacy of integrating traditional medicine into the Ghanaian health system using the Ashanti Region as the focal *** of an integrative healthcare delivery model including philosophies/values,structure,process and outcome were used to conduct a quality assessment of the integrated health system in *** element clearly showed that Ghana is currently not running a coordinated health practice model,thus making it a tolerant,rather than an inclusive,health ***,the primary purpose of this research is to discuss the development of a new and appropriately customised model that could enhance the practice of integrated healthcare in *** model we present has flexibility and far-reaching applicability in other African countries because such countries share similar socio-cultural and economic *** such,governments and health practitioners could adapt this model to improve the practice of integrated healthcare in their specific *** administrators and health system researchers could also adapt the model to investigate or to monitor the progress and efficacy of integrated healthcare practices within their *** might help to understand the relationships between the integration of traditional medicine and health outcomes for a given population.

DNA Barcoding of insects and its Direct Application for Plant Protection

The introduction of invasive insect pests across national borders has become a major concern in crop production. Accordingly, national plant protection organizations are challenge to reinforce their monitoring strategies, which are hampered by the weight and size of inspection equipment, as well as the taxonomic extensiveness of interrupted species. Moreover, some insect pests that impede farmer productivity and profitability are difficult for researchers to address on time due to a lack of appropriate plant protection measures. Farmers’ reliance on synthetic pesticides and biocontrol agents has resulted in major economic and environmental ramifications. DNA barcoding is a novel technology that has the potential to improve integrated Pest Management decision-making, which is dependent on the ability to correctly identify pest and beneficial organisms. This is due to some natural traits such as phenology or pesticide susceptibility browbeaten by iPM strategies to avert pest establishment. Specifically, Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) sequence information was applied effectively for the identification of some micro-organisms. This technology, DNA barcoding, allows for the identification of insect species by using short, standardized gene sequences. DNA barcoding is basically based on repeatable and accessible technique that allows for the mechanisation or automation of species discrimination. This technique bridges the taxonomic bio-security gap and meets the international Plant Protection Convention diagnostic standards for insect identification. This review therefore discusses DNA barcoding as a technique for insect pests’ identification and its potential application for crop protection.

Gynaecological Cancers in HiV Positive and Negative Women—A Single-Center Retrospective Study (2008-2017)

Background/Objective: The association between Human immunodeficiency Virus (HiV) and invasive cervical carcinoma is fully recognized. However, the effect of HiV and antiretroviral therapy on the morbidity and mortality of other gynaecological cancers have not been conclusively determined. Our study objective was to examine the effects of HiV on patient age at presentation, prevalence, and severity of the illness of various gynaecological cancers diagnosed in University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu over the period 2008-2017. Methods: This was a retrospective cross-sectional study of 224 patients who were managed in UNTH for different gynaecological malignancies. Ethical clearance was obtained from the Research Ethics Committee of the UNTH, Enugu. Data analysis was done with SPSS software with results expressed in descriptive statistics of simple frequency and percentage, and p-value set at Results: A total of 224 patients were studied. Twenty-five percent of HiV positive patients were aged 31 - 40 years at presentation compared to 12% of HiV negative patients. The commonest gynaecological cancer was cervical cancer with a higher proportion among the HiV-positive patients. While 32% of HiV negative patients presented at FiGO stages 1 - 2 Versus 8.3% of HiV positive patients, 58.3% and 33.3% of HiV positive patients presented at stages 3 and 4 respectively. Only 8.3% of HiV positive patients presented with ovarian cancer compared with 31% of HiV negative patients. A higher proportion of HiV positive patients presented with vulvar cancer (16.7%), but no endometrial or choriocarcinoma/GTD, compared with HiV negative patients. Conclusion: HiV positive clients present at an earlier age with more advanced disease, mostly cervical cancer of the squamous cell variety, with minimal non-AiDS defining cancers over the study period in UNTH, Enugu.

The COViD-19 pandemic has ravaged global health and national economies *** and isolation are effective control strategies to mitigate the transmission of COViD-19,especially in the early stage of the disease *** this paper,we develop a deterministic model to investigate the impact of testing and compliance with isolation on the transmission of *** derive the control reproduction number R_(C),which gives the threshold for disease elimination or *** data from New York State in the early stage of the disease outbreak,we estimate R_(C)=7:*** elasticity and sensitivity analyses show that testing and compliance with isolation are significant in reducing R_(C) and disease *** reveals that only high testing volume combined with a large proportion of individuals complying with isolation have great impact on mitigating the *** testing starting date is also crucial:the earlier testing is implemented,the more impact it has on reducing the *** results obtained here would also be helpful in developing guidelines of early control strategies for pandemics similar to COViD-19.

Mapping of thin sandstone reservoirs in bisol field, Niger delta, Nigeria using spectral decomposition technique

This study focuses on using spectral decomposition(SD)technique to characterize complicated reservoirs to understand the structural and stratigraphic variations in the interpreted horizons from Bisol *** purpose of this study is to use geophysical and well logging data sets to map the thin-bedded sandstone reservoirs and prospect zones within the multiple reservoirs in Bisol field,Niger *** interpretation of faults and horizons was carried out on the seismic section,which was further used to produce the structural *** attributes such as trace and variance were used to enhance the truncated structures from the seismic section,while the produced spectra were used to delineate the stratigraphy and thickness of the thin-bedded *** sandstone reservoirs were identified from well logs and consequently mapped on the seismic *** Fourier Transform workflow was successfully used to image the stratigraphic features in the study *** horizons(S1T,S2T and S3T)were delineated from the seismic section,and four reservoirs were mapped and correlated across the *** analyses from the seismic sectional view revealed some thin pay sandstone reservoirs,which were characterized by high *** new probable zones(Prospect A,B and C)of hydrocarbon accumulation were identified using the SD technique.

The effects of co-infection with human parvovirus B19 and Plasmodium falciparum on type and degree of anaemia in Ghanaian children

Objective:To determin the extent to which parvovirus B19(B19V)and co-infection of B19V and malaria contribute to risk of anaemia in ***:B19V DNA and malaria parasites were screened for 234 children at the PMi,Children's Hospital in *** role of B19V and coinfection with B19V and malaria in anaemia was evaluated by analysing full blood cell counts,malaria and B19V DNA results from these ***:The prevalence of B19V,malaria and co-infection with B19V and malaria was 4.7%,41.9%and 2.6%,*** posed a greater risk in the development of mild anaemia compared to severe anaemia(OR=5.28 vrs3.15)whereas B19V posed a higher risk in the development of severe anaemia compared to mild anaemia(OR=4.07 vrs 1.00)from a non-anaemic *** with co-infection with B19V and malaria had 2.23 times the risk(95%Ci=0.40-12.54)of developing severe anaemia should they already have a mild *** degree of anaemia was about three times affected by coinfection(Pillai's trace=0.551,P=0.001)as was affected by malaria alone(Pillai's trace=0.185,P=0.001).B19V alone did not significantly affect the development of anaemia in a non-anaemic *** anaemia was associated with B19V and co-infection with B19V and malaria more than normocytic normochromic ***:B19V was associated with malaria in cases of severe *** association posed a significant risk for exacerbation of anaemia in mild anaemic children.B19V and co-infection with B19V and malaria may be associated with microcytic anaemia rather than normocytic normochromic anaemia as seen in cases of B19V infection among persons with red cell abnormalities.

Using Database Management System to Generate, Manage and Secure Personal identification Numbers (PiN)

A number of problems are associated with the generation, management and security of PiNs, a subset of password. The PiNs may be recharge card used by GSM operators or for authentication in ATM. The problems associated with the use of these PiNs range from scratching off any of the recharge PiN numbers in recharge card to loss of PiN number or entering invalid number in the case of authentication. it usually takes time for the customer service of the service provider or system administrator to provide convincing solution to these problems promptly when it occurred. PiNs generation could seem like simply arranging ranges of number and feeding it into the telecommunication systems such as mobile handsets or ATM to grant access but it requires a specialized and secured way to generate, store and manage it in order to achieve prompt access. This paper focused on the development of database concept to provide solution to these problems by desiging a system by which the PiNs generated can be effectively stored and managed so that userss can have immediate access to the PiNs if they can provide the identification number on the card. Succintly, the paper discusses the design of a system that generates, manages and secures PiNs application using Visual Basic Version 6.0 for designing the front and interface and Microsoft Access 2007 as the database. The system was implemented using real data and the result was successful.

A New Space-Time CE/SE Numerical Tracking of Contaminant Transport in Fractured Stratified Geologic Profiles

To date, efficient numerical simulation of contaminant transport in geologic porous media is challenged by parametric jumps resulting from stratification and the use of ideal initial/boundary conditions. Thus, to resolve some contaminant hydrology problems, this work presents the development of the Space-Time Conservation Element/Solution Element (CE/SE) scheme for advection-dispersion-reaction a-d-r transport in geologic media. The CE/SE method derives from the native form of Gauss conservation law. Therefore, it is able to effectively handle non-trivial discontinuities that may exist within the problem domain. in freshwater aquifer, stratification and other parametric jumps are examples of such discontinuity. To simulate the Nigerian experience of nitrate pollution of freshwater aquifers;the a-d-r contaminant transport model is herein solved under a time periodic nitrate fertilizer loading condition on farmlands. Results show that this approach is able to recover the well-known field pattern of nitrate profiles under farmlands. Cyclic loading impacts more on the dispersivity of an aquifer. Hence, dispersion coefficient modulates the response of aquifers to loading frequency. However, aquifers with conductivity less than 10-6 m/day are almost insensitive to periodic loads. The CE/SE method is able to sense slight (i.e. order of 10-3) variation in hydrological parameters. Also, CE/SE computes contaminant concentration and its flux simultaneously. Thus, it facilitates a better understanding of some reported phenomena such as contaminant accumulation and localized reverse transport at the interface between fracture and matrix in geologic medium. Clearly, CE/SE is an efficient and admissible tool into the family of numerical methods available for tracking contaminant transport in porous media.
