ackground:Uncorrected refractive error is a major cause of vision impairment worldwide and its increasing prevalent necessitates effective screening and management ***,deep learning,a subset of Artificial Intelligence,has significantly advanced ophthalmological diagnostics by automating tasks that required extensive clinical *** recent studies have investigated the use of deep learning models for refractive power detection through various imaging techniques,a comprehensive systematic review on this topic is has yet be *** review aims to summarise and evaluate the performance of ocular image-based deep learning models in predicting refractive *** text:We search on three databases(PubMed,Scopus,Web of Science)up till June 2023,focusing on deep learning applications in detecting refractive error from ocular *** included studies that had reported refractive error outcomes,regardless of publication *** systematically extracted and evaluated the continuous outcomes(sphere,SE,cylinder)and categorical outcomes(myopia),ground truth measurements,ocular imaging modalities,deep learning models,and performance metrics,adhering to PRISMA *** studies were identified and categorised into three groups:retinal photo-based(n=5),OCT-based(n=1),and external ocular photo-based(n=3).For high myopia prediction,retinal photo-based models achieved AUC between 0.91 and 0.98,sensitivity levels between 85.10%and 97.80%,and specificity levels between 76.40%and 94.50%.For continuous prediction,retinal photo-based models reported MAE ranging from 0.31d to 2.19d,and R^(2) between 0.05 and *** OCT-based model achieved an AUC of 0.79–0.81,sensitivity of 82.30%and 87.20%and specificity of 61.70%–68.90%.For external ocular photo-based models,the AUC ranged from 0.91 to 0.99,sensitivity of 81.13%–84.00%and specificity of 74.00%–86.42%,MAE ranges from 0.07d to 0.18d and accuracy ranges from 81.60%to 96.70%.The reported papers colle

this paper reports the study of crumb rubber drying in different experimental *** is important to understand the characteristics of crumb rubber drying in order to formulate a better drying strategy that could give higher energy *** experiments were carried out with constant heat at maximum 100℃ and a stainless steel container was used to hold the sample of crumb rubber under *** surface temperature profile of the rubber was investigated using two types of drying methods,normal hot air drying and vacuum *** was found that when the sample was dried,external surface temperature for drying with hot air dryer was higher than vacuum *** results showed the evolution of temperature profile was not in good agreement with the prediction which revealed that there was no temperature gradient within the drying *** energy consumption for vacuum drying was higher compared to hot air drying,where there was a difference of 0.7079 MJ/kg H2O evaporated for drying temperature at 100℃.The best fit model generated from the experimental data was the modified Henderson and Pabis model and the highest effective diffusivity obtained was 5.243×10^-9m^2/s heating by vacuum oven at 90℃ under zero atmospheric pressure.

AIM:To report a one-year clinical outcomes of low-dose laser cycloplasty(LCP)among malignant glaucoma ***:In this prospective,multicenter,noncomparative clinical study,participants with malignant glaucoma were recruited and underwent LCP at eight ophthalmic centers in *** were followed up at 1wk,1,3,6,and *** pressure(IOP),number of glaucoma medications,anterior chamber depth(ACd),and complications were *** success was defined as the reformation of the anterior chamber based on slit-lamp *** was defined by the presence of a shallow orﬂat anterior chamber after initial recovery from ***:A total of 34 eyes received *** IOP and medications decreased from 36.1±11.5 mm Hg with 3.3±1.5 glaucoma medications pre-treatment to 20.9±9.8 mm Hg(Pdications(P=0.046)at 1d,and 17.4±6.7 mm Hg(Pdications(Pd increased from 1.1±0.8 mm at baseline to 1.7±1.0 mm and to 2.0±0.5 mm at 1d and 12mo,respectively.A total of 32(94.1%)eyes achieved initial anatomical *** follow-up,2(5.9%)eyes failed and 8(23.5%)eyes relapsed,yielding a 12-month anatomical success rate of 64.3%.Complications including anterior synechia(8.82%),choroidal/ciliary detachment(5.88%)and hypopyon(2.94%)were observed within ***:LCP is simple,safe,and effective in reforming the anterior chamber in malignant glaucoma.

A three-dimensional coupled numerical model of nonlinear waves in a harbor

A 3-d time-domain numerical coupled model for nonlinear waves acting on a ship in a harbor has been developed in the present *** whole domain is divided into the inner domain and the outer *** inner domain is the area around the ship,where the flow is expressed by the Laplace equation and numerically solved by the finite element *** other area is the outer domain,where the flow is described by the higher-order Boussinesq equations and numerically solved by the finite difference *** matching conditions on the interfaces between the inner domain and the outer domain,the procedure of coupled solution,the length of common domain and the mesh generation in the inner domain are discussed in *** other coupled model with the flow in the inner domain governed by the simplified linear Euler equations and relevant physical experiment are adopted to validate the present coupled model,and it is shown that the numerical results of the present model agree with the experimental data,so the present model can be used for the study on the effect of nonlinear waves acting on a fixed ship in a large area and provide a reference for the time-domain simulation of nonlinear wave forces on an arbitrary object in a large harbor and the 3-d district computation in the future.

The drying kinetics of Roselle （Hibiscus sabdariffa L） of variety Terengganu （UMKL-1） and the quality attribution of Roselle were studied. The experiments were conducted using four different drying methods, including solar greenhouse drying （Sd）, solar greenhouse with intermittent heat pump drying （SIHP）, hot air drying （HA） and heat pump drying （HP）. Among the four drying methods, HP achieved the highest drying rate at a range from 0.054 g H20-（g dM）-1. rain-1 to 0.212 g H20-（g dM）-1. rain 1 while Sd had the lowest drying rate, measured at 0.042 g H2O. （g dM） ***- 1. The analysis on colour kinetics revealed that there is no significant colour loss （p 〉 0.05） observed from HP＇s dried Roselle. Greater amount of flavonoid compounds i.e. protocatechuic acid was found in Sd and SIHP dried finished product whereas HP＇s dried Roselle contains higher percentage of catechin as compared to other drying methods.

Capecitabine with radiation is an effective adjuvant therapy in gastric cancers

AIM:To analyze the outcome of patients who received concurrent capecitabine(Xeloda) and radiation(XRT) compared to the established concurrent 5-fluorouracil(5-FU) with radiation(5FU-RT) and fluoropyrimidine-based chemotherapy alone as adjuvant treatment in gastric ***:All patients with gastric cancers who received adjuvant treatment at the National Cancer Centre Singapore between 1996 and 2006 were *** outcomes of patients who received XRT were compared with those who had 5FU-RT or chemotherapy alone as adjuvant therapy for gastric ***:A total of 108 patients were *** age at diagnosis was *** majority of the patients(64.8%) had advanced stage Ⅲ and Ⅳ disease(with no distant metastasis).All except 4 patients had d2 *** one patients(19.4%) had positive surgical resection *** three patients received XRT compared with 52 who had 5FU-RT and 23 who received chemotherapy *** the patients in the chemotherapy-only group,all had fluoropyrimidine-based therapy,with added cisplatin in 7 patients and epirubicin in 2 *** recurrence-free survival was longer for the XRT group(52 mo) compared to the 5FU-RT(35 mo) and chemotherapy-only groups(25 mo)(P=0.48).The patients in the XRT group achieved similar median overall survival(53 mo) as the 5FU-RT(54 mo) and the chemotherapy-only groups(44 mo)(P=0.5).CONCLUSION:Capecitabine with concurrent radiation was as effective as concurrent 5FU with radiation or fluoropyrimidine-based chemotherapy alone when used as adjuvant treatment in patients with gastric cancers.

A 3-d Time-domain Coupled Model for Nonlinear Waves Acting on A Box-Shaped Ship Fixed in A Harbor

A 3-d time-domain numerical coupled model is developed to obtain an efficient method for nonlinear waves acting on a box-shaped ship fixed in a harbor. The domain is divided into the inner domain and the outer domain. The inner domain is the area beneath the ship and the flow is described by the simplified Euler equations. The remaining area is the outer domain and the flow is defined by the higher-order Boussinesq equations in order to consider the nonlinearity of the wave motions. Along the interface boundaries between the inner domain and the outer domain, the volume flux is assumed to be continuous and the wave pressures are equal. Relevant physical experiment is conducted to validate the present mode/and it is shown that the numerical results agree with the experimental data. Compared the coupled model with the flow in the inner domain governed by the Laplace equation, the present coupled model is more efficient and its solution procedure is simpler, which is particularly useful for the study on the effect of the nonlinear waves acting on a fixed box-shaped ship in a large harbor.

High Performance Ring Oscillators from 10-nm Wide Silicon Nanowire Field-Effect Transistors

We explore 10-nm wide Si nanowire （SiNW） field-effect transistors （FETs） for logic applications, via the fabrication and testing of SiNW-based ring oscillators. We report on SiNW surface treatments and dielectric annealing, for producing SiNW FETs that exhibit high performance in terms of large on/off-state current ratio （-10s）, low drain-induced barrier lowering （-30 mV） and low subthreshold swing （-80 mV/decade）. The performance of inverter and ring-oscillator circuits fabricated from these nanowire FETs are also explored. The inverter demonstrates the highest voltage gain （-148） reported for a SiNW-based NOT gate, and the ring oscillator exhibits near rail-to-rail oscillation centered at 13.4 MHz. The static and dynamic characteristics of these NW devices indicate that these SiNW-based FET circuits are excellent candidates for various high-performance nanoelectronic applications.

An investigation is reported on the characteristics of progressive failure of Hong Kong granite. Uniaxial compression tests are performed on a number of Hong Kong granite specimens with the MTS 815.04 testing *** emission signals are recorded to trace the evolution of damages. Parametric studies on the effect of grain size are attempted. The results show that the increase in grain size will reduce the brittleness during failure. In addition, discussion is extended to the grain size effect on the stress thresholds of crack closure, crack initiation and crack damage. The RFPA^2d code is also used to observe the failure characteristics of brittle rocks such as granite. Microscopic tensile failure is dominant in the ultimate failure of all the uniaxially compressed models. The crack initiation threshold is also determined by the numerical approach. The failure of coarse-grained models seems more ductile.

提出基于真实细观结构的岩土工程材料三维数值分析方法。运用数字图像技术,将岩土工程材料的表面图像转换为材料的真实矢量细观结构。然后通过一种简单变换,将该矢量结构转换为单层的三维结构。最后采用研磨及扫描循环系统,逐步扫描并生成每一层材料的表面细观结构,将这些沿深度方向连续的细观结构逐层逐层叠加起来,从而形成了整个试件的三维真实细观结构。该细观结构可以与传统数值计算方法耦合来分析非均质岩土工程材料的力学性能。以香港花岗岩为例,采用有限差分法软件FLAC3d,分析岩石在单轴受压情况下的三维应力分布及裂纹的产生及扩展过程。计算结果显示真实细观结构能显著影响材料的力学性能及破裂模式。
