Several treatment options corresponding to the grade of keratoconus have been *** are ultra-violet corneal crosslinking and intracorneal ring segments for mild to moderate keratoconus,and penetrating keratoplasty or deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty for the more a.vanced cases of *** layer transplantation was developed as a procedure for patients with a.vanced,progressive *** technique consists of transplanting an isolated donor Bowman layer into a mid-stromal pocket of a keratoconic cornea resulting in corneal flattening and stabilization against further ***,it aims at corneal stabilization in eyes with a.vanced keratoconus,and enabling continued contact lens wear for normal visual *** being a sutureless procedure and using an acellular graft,it potentially avoids commonly known suture and graftrelated complications of penetrating or deep anterior lamellar *** treatment seems to be a promising option in the management of a.vanced keratoconus in order to postpone or prevent a more invasive corneal surgery,while minimizing the risk of complications and allowing less stringent surveillance and less intensive medical therapy.

The Tai and Chao Lake basins are currently facing a serious water pollution crisis associated with the absence of an effective environmental governance system. The water pollution and the water governance system of the two basins will be compared. The reasons for water pollution in both basins are similar, namely the weak current water environmental governance system cannot deal with the consequences of the rapidly growing economy. China’s water governance system is a complicated combination of basin management with both departmental management and regional management. There is an absence of legal support and sound coordination mechanisms, resulting in fragmented management practices in the existing water environmental governance system. A comparison is made for the Tai and Chao Lake basins and Canada, France, the United Kingdom and the United States. Based on China’s present central-local governance structure and departmental system, an integrated reform of basin level and water environmental governance in China should learn from international experiences. The reforms could consist of improved governance structures, rebuilding authoritative and powerful agencies for basin management, strengthening the organizational structure of the basin administrations, improving legislation and regulatory systems for basin management and enhancing public participation mechanisms.

Background:To evaluate the efficacy of manual mid-stromal dissection in stabilizing progressive ***:Surgeries were performed in 16 eyes of 14 patients with progressive *** eyes were examined before and at 1 day,1 week,1,3,6 and 12 months after surgery,and every 6 months ***(simK,Kmax and pachymetry),best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and subjective refraction were recorded up to the latest follow-up visit(mean follow-up time 6.6±2.4 years).Results:All surgeries were uneventful,and no postoperative complications *** values(n=15)stabilized in 6/11 eyes(55%)with a preoperative Kmax60 D showed continued *** 11/15 eyes(73%)pachymetry was *** with spectacles remained stable in 7/12 eyes(58%)and improved≥2 Snellen lines in 5/12 eyes(42%).BCVA with a contact lens remained stable in 4/9 eyes(44%),improved≥2 Snellen lines in 3/9 eyes(33%)and deteriorated in 2/9 eyes(22%).Conclusions:Manual mid-stromal dissection was effective in 50%of keratoconic corneas with Kmax valuesa.vantage of the procedure may be that the tissue is unaltered and that no synthetic or biological implant is required.

BACKGROUND Current literature shows no clear answer on the question how to manage the capsule after hip *** patient reported outcome measures there seems to be no difference between capsular repair or unrepaired *** To evaluate and compare the integrity of the hip capsule measured on a magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)scan after capsular repair or unrepaired *** A case series study was performed;a random sample of patients included in a trial comparing capsular repair vs unrepaired capsulotomy had a postoperative MRI *** presence of a capsular defect and gap size were independently evaluated on *** A total of 28 patients(29 hips)were *** demographics were comparable between treatment *** were 2 capsular defects in the capsular repair group and 7 capsular defects in the unrepaired capsulotomy group(P=0.13).In the group of patients with a defect,median gap sizes at the acetabular side were 5.9 mm(range:2.7-9.0)in the repaired and 8.0 mm(range:4.5-18.0)in the unrepaired group(P=0.462).At the muscular side gap sizes were 6.6 mm(range:4.1-9.0)in the repaired group and 11.5 mm(range:3.0-18.0)in the unrepaired group(P=0.857).The calculated Odds ratio(OR)for having a capsular defect with an increasing lateral center-edge(CE)angle was 1.12(P=0.06).The OR for having a capsular defect is lower in the group of patients that underwent a labral repair with an OR of 0.1(P=0.05).CONCLUSION There is no significant difference in capsular defects between capsular repair or unrepaired *** clinical characteristics our case series shows that a larger CE angle increases the likelihood of a capsular defect and the presence of a labral repair decreases the likelihood of a capsular defect.

For CO<SUB>2</SUB>Emission Trading in China, Can the Market Become a National One, Four Years after Creating Seven Local Markets?

In this paper, we assess the existing seven local pilot carbon emission trading schemes in China and analyse the factors determining whether China’s carbon market is successful in terms of handling substantial amounts of CO2 emissions rights, regulating the market and trading them at a reasonable price. The emission trading system is developing slowly in most of the participating provinces and cities. Prices tend to decline, while volumes trading slowly increase. The volatility is partially the result of regulation (the rights need to be renewed before a certain date) and partially due to government interventions in the market. Based on the assessment, recommendations are provided for China implementing a national carbon market, based on the experiences and lessons learnt from the seven local carbon emission trading schemes. Conditions for China to roll out the system and later improve the national emission trading scheme to replace the existing local emission trading schemes are formulated.

Background and Aims:Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)is driven by high caloric intake and sedentary *** towards high income countries may induce these driving factors;yet,the influence of such on the prevalence of MAFLD is clearly ***,we investigated the Fatty Liver Index(FLI),a proxy of steatosis in MAFLD,after migration of Ghanaian ***:Cross-sectional data of 5282 rural,urban and migrant participants from the Research on Obesity and Diabetes among African Migrants(also known as RODAM)study were analyzed with logistic regression for geographical differences in FLI and associations with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM),waist-to-hip ratio,and 10-year predicted risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease(ASCVD).Results:Both FLI and the proportion with an FLI indicative of MAFLD steatosis(FLI≥60)were higher in migrants compared with *** of elevated FLI(FLI≥60)in non-migrant males was 4.2%compared to 28.9%in *** females,a similar gradient was observed,from 13.6%to 36.6%*** to rural residents,the odds for a FLI≥60 were higher in migrants living in urban Europe(odds ratio[OR]9.02,95%confidence interval[CI]:5.02–16.20 for men,and 4.00,95%CI:3.00–5.34 for women).Compared to controls,the ORs for FLI≥60 were 2.43(95%CI:1.73–3.41)for male T2DM cases and 2.02(95%CI:1.52–2.69)for female T2DM ***-unit higher FLI was associated with an elevated(≥7.5%)10-year ASCVD risk(OR:1.051,95%CI:1.041–1.062 for men,and 1.020,95%CI:1.015–1.026 for women).Conclusions:FLI as a proxy for MAFLD increased stepwise in Ghanaians from rural areas,through urban areas,to *** results clearly warrant awareness for MAFLD in migrant population as well as confirmation with imaging modalities.
