This paper presents a methodology based on computational intelligence techniques for classification of hydrological cycles that can infer the change in the physico-chemical parameters and metals from the water of a reservoir in the Amazon. The methodology initially consists in perform a pre-processing the data to select the most relevant variables of the samples. After that, we compared two different machine learning classifiers, namely SVM (support vector machine) and ANN (artificial neural network). The automatic model selection is made to choose the parameters of the classifiers. The results indicate that the support vector machine classifier using radial basis function or polynomial kernel exhibited superior results to ANN in terms of overall accuracy and robustness. The SVM classifier accuracy (89.1%) can be considered satisfactory, since there is a great variability of physico-chemical parameters and metals in the hydrological cycles and in the different ecosystems where are the sampling station.

Ensuring the physiological quality of the seeds depends on storage conditions. Since their quality cannot be improved, good conditions during this period will contribute on keeping them viable for a longer time, delaying the deterioration process. In the present study, the effect of five storage periods in a refrigerated chamber at 15℃± 1℃, on the seeds viability during 30, 60, 90, 150 and 240 days of storage in glass containers was evaluated. Four replicates of twenty-five seeds per treatment were used and the data were compared by regression equation. It verified that, regardless of the storage time, the seeds when submitted to the drying temperature of 35℃and 40℃showed a significant linear reduction of germination, GSI and seed vigor after storage.

The aim of this study was to determine the biological aspects and thermal requirements of Harmonia axyridis Pallas (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) fed daily with Anagasta kuehniella (Zeller) (Lep-idoptera: Pyralidae) eggs. Under laboratory conditions, the experiment was carried out in acclimatized chambers set to 18°C, 21°C, 24°C, 27°C, and 30°C. Larvae of H. axyridis were separated, kept in a glass tube, and fed with A. kuehniella eggs. The Asiatic lady beetle adults were separated into 20 couples and kept in plastic cups receiving the same food as the larvae. The length of the larval, pupal, and total biological cycle (from egg to adult) stages declined significantly from 18°C to 27°C, but was stable between 27°C and 30°C. Survival was similar for larvae from the first to the fourth stadium when kept at 18°C, 21°C, and 24°C with a higher total biological cycle survival at 27°C. H. axyridis males presented higher longevity at 18°C and 21°C in comparison to females that had a longer life and a higher fecundity at 24°C and 27°C, respectively. The lower thermal limit for biological cycle development was 12.4°C, and the thermal constant was 243.9 degree-days.

Lectin Cramoll-1,4, obtained from Cratylia mollis seeds (beans camaratu) was structurally characterized, biologically and pharmacologically, but its use as a biopharmaceutical is not well documented. The objective of this study is to propose a biopharmaceutical formulation lectin Cramoll-1,4, test their hemagglutinating properties in vitro as well as the use of gamma radiation as a continuous process of decontamination formulation. It was made of the extraction and purification Cramoll-1,4, was developed a gel formulation using Carbopol? as a vehicle, at concentrations of 50, 100, 200, 300 and 600 μg was irradiated with 60Co gamma rays in a dose of 7.549 kGy·h–1. The proposed formulation at a concentration of 300 μg produced an increase in the hemagglutinating units Cramoll-1,4 due to the synergistic effect caused by gamma radiation. Considering the diverse use of lectins, specific molecular and structural factors, as well as changes resulting from its formulation, concentration, irradiation and route of administration is of utmost importance to continue the studies in vitro, for subsequent application in vivo to characterize the physiological and molecular processes involved in the response and cellular effects.

Endophytic fungi(EF)colonize plant tissues without causing damage;this relationship brings benefits to both,including a greater resistance to environmental stresses,but the influence of genotypes and culture system in endophytic community is still ***,this work aimed to study EF from Sorghum bicolor and correlate to its genotypes submitted to different culture systems;their potential to produce antimicrobial compounds was also *** optimize the production of metabolites,four isolates were submitted to liquid medium and the crude extracts of different culture times were *** of leaves of Qualimax and SF15 genotypes were isolated after superficial *** identification was made using classical *** results,the traditional system presented the lowest number EF isolates,while the minimum system showed the *** genera Aspergillus,Fusarium,Penicillium,Cladosporium,Curvularia and Syncephalastrum were found;Aspergillus *** pointed out as a predominant endophyte of genotype *** the 25 endophytes submitted antimicrobial activity assay in solid medium,21 presented antibacterial activity against at least one bacterium with the highest inhibition zone of 29.3 mm of diameter against Staphylococcus *** EF submitted to liquid medium kept the capacity to produce antibacterial *** conclusion,regardless of genotype and culture system,sorghum is colonized by different EF,mainly Aspergillus *** from leaves of *** produce antibacterial compounds and their biotechnological applications can be explored in future.
