Irbesartan (IBS) is a tetrazole derivative and antihypertensive drug that has two interconvertible structures, 1H- and 2H-tautomers. The difference between them lies in the protonation of the tetrazole ring. In the solid-state, both tautomers can be isolated as crystal forms A (1H-tautomer) and B (2H-tautomer). Studies have reported that IBS is a polymorphic system and its forms A and B are related monotropically. These reports indicate form B as the most stable and less soluble form. Therefore, the goal of this contribution is to demonstrate through a complete solid-state characterization, thermodynamic study and dissolution properties that the IBS forms are desmotropes that are not related monotropically. However, the intention is also to call attention to the importance of conducting strict chemical and in solid-state quality controls on the IBS raw materials. Hence, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and Raman spectroscopy (RS) at ambient and non-ambient conditions, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), hot stage microscopy (HSM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques were applied. Furthermore, intrinsic dissolution rate (IDR) and structural stability studies at 98% relative humidity (RH), 25℃ and 40 ℃ were conducted as well. The results show that in fact, form A is approximately four-fold more soluble than form B. In addition, both IBS forms are stable at ambient conditions. Nevertheless, structural and/or chemical instability was observed in form B at 40℃ and 98% RH. IBS has been confirmed as a desmotropic system rather than a polymorphic one. Consequently, forms A and B are not related monotropically.

In this work, we focus on designing efficient numerical schemes to approximate a ther- modynamically consistent Navier-Stokes/Cahn-Hilliard problem given in [3] modeling the mixture of two incompressible fluids with different densities. The model is based on a diffuse-interface phase-field approach that is able to describe topological transitions like droplet coalescense or droplet break-up in a natural way. We present a splitting scheme, decoupling computations of the Navier-Stokes part from the Cahn-Hilliard one, which is unconditionally energy-stable up to the choice of the potential approximation. Some nu- merical experiments are carried out to validate the correctness and the accuracy of the scheme, and to study the sensitivity of the scheme with respect to different physical pa- rameters.

The impact of cultural assumptions on simulated energy, comfort, and investment returns of design decisions in two desert climates

In Latin America, default assumptions and borrowed templates and methodologies are often used in energy modeling, resulting in models that might not represent their cultural context and leading to policies awkwardly fit to local practices. Policy-driving low-income housing studies in Mexico, for example, activated both heating and cooling in energy models even though less than 5% of the homes in the country have heating systems. This paper illustrates the importance of modeling local sociocultural habits and practices, and how this can affect design outcomes. Here, we modeled low-income housing representative of typical residences in two desert climates-Hermosillo, Mexico, and Copiapo, Chile-using EnergyPlus. Settings representing local practices in each region were tested against default values, including occupancy settings, regional construction systems, and importantly, HVAC settings related to partial conditioning. Their impacts were measured via variation in energy use, comfort conditions, and the payback period of design upgrades. Results demonstrated how certain assumptions can have a high “design significance”, a term we propose for inputs that completely change optimal design decisions, as well as the importance of considering thermal comfort in such decisions. Including partial conditioning, for example, resulted in at least double the payback period and discomfort degrees for design upgrades in 16 of 24 instances.

China is one of the fastest-growing wine markets in the *** businesses from major wine-producing countries have been focusing on this *** is the third larger wine producer worldwide and due to a drop in its local consumption resulting in a huge oversupply,has targeted China as an export ***,the market share and reputation of Spanish wines has not been as good as expected,its wine is often associated by the Chinese consumers as cheap,low quality or bulk,which does not represent the reality of these *** companies have neither understood the Chinese market very well,nor efficiently set up their strategies to approach *** study aims to help Spanish wine companies to improve performance and overcome the problems that they are currently facing in the Chinese wine *** recommendations and an effective marketing strategy are provided at the end of the *** following the strategic planning theories,the study presents an analysis of the Spanish wine industry in China,where the strengths,weaknesses,opportunities and threats are identified through the external and internal analysis and gathered in the SWOT *** study reveals that Chinese do not use wine for daily consumption,instead they use it for gifts or assert position,they lack of ability of distinguish or appreciate the real quality of wine and the country of origin of this spirit influence the consumer’s purchasing ***,it is of vital importance for Spanish companies to focus in compete with image,appearance,and perception instead of price or quality,promote the "Spain" brand and Invest in educating the consumers about wine,so they can appreciate quality in the future.A combination of premium price,high-class promotion and high-end distribution channel ensuring the online market,as well as the expansion in cities of second and third level,is an effective strategy.

We show that the（2＋1）-dimensional Dirac-Moshinsky oscillator coupled to an externa/ magnetic field can be treated algebraically with the SU（1,1） group theory and its group *** use the su（1,1） irreducible representation theory to find the energy spectrum and the ***,with the su（1,1） group basis we construct the relativistic coherent states in a closed form for this problem.

This paper describes empirical research on the model, optimization and supervisory control of beer *** in the laboratory were made as similar as possible to brewery industry conditions. Since mathematical models that consider realistic industrial conditions were not available, a new mathematical model design involving industrial conditions was first developed. Batch fermentations are multiobjective dynamic processes that must be guided along optimal paths to obtain good *** paper describes a direct way to apply a Pareto set approach with multiobjective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs).Successful finding of optimal ways to drive these processes were *** obtained, the mathematical fermentation model was used to optimize the fermentation process by using an intelligent control based on certain rules.

Dynamics and origin of cytokinins involved in plant manipulation by a leaf-mining insect

Several herbivorous insects and plant-associated microorganisms control the phytohormonal balance, thus enabling them to successfully exploit the plant by inhibiting plant defenses and withdrawing plant resources for their own benefit. The leaf-mining moth Phyllonorycter blancardella modifies the cytokinin （CK） profile of mined leaf-tissues, and the insect symbiotic bacteria Wolbachia is involved in the plant manipulation to the benefit of the insect host. To gain a deeper understanding into the possible origin and dynamics of CKs, we conducted an extensive characterization of CKs in larvae and in infected apple leaves. Our results show the enhanced CK levels in mines, both on green and yellow leaves, allowing insects to control their nutritional supply under fluctuating environmental conditions. The spatial distribution of CKs within the mined leaves shows that hormone manipulation is strictly limited to the mine suggesting the absence of CK translocation from distant leaf areas toward the insect feeding site. Mass spectrometry analyses reveal that major CK types accumulating in mines and larvae are similar to what is observed for most gall-inducers, suggesting that strategies underlying the plant manipulation may be shared between herbivorous insects with distinct life histories. Results further show that CKs are detected in the highest levels in larvae, reinforcing our hypothesis that CKs accumulating in the mines originate from the insect itself. Presence of bacteria- specific methylthio-CKs is consistent with previous results suggesting that insect bacterial symbionts contribute to the observed phenotype. Our study provides key findings toward the understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying this intricate plant-insect-microbe interaction.
