Dielectric materials,such as barium titanate(BT)-based materials,have excellent dielectric properties but require high temperatures(above 1300℃)for ceramic fabrication,leading to high costs and energy *** cold sintering process(CSP)offers a solution to these issues and is gaining worldwide attention as an innovative fabrication *** this work,we proposed an alternative organic ferroelectric phase,gamma-glycine(γ-GC),which acts as a transient liquid phase to fabricate high-density composites with barium titanate(BT)at low temperatures through *** findings show that the density of 15γ-GC/85BT reached 96.7%±1.6%when it was sintered at 120℃for 6 h under 10 MPa uniaxial *** electron microscopy‒energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(SEM‒EDS)mappings of the composite suggested thatγ-GC completely underwent the precipitation-dissolution process and,therefore,filled between BT ***,X-ray diffraction(XRD)and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)confirmed the preservation ofγ-GC without undesired phase *** addition,the ferroelectric and dielectric properties ofγ-GC/BT composites have been *** high dielectric constant(ε_(r))was 3600,and the low dielectric loss(tanδ)was 1.20 at 200℃and 100 kHz for the 15γ-GC/85BT *** hysteresis loop showed a remanent polarization(P_(r))of 0.55µC·cm^(−2)and a coercive field(E_(c))of 7.25 kV·cm^(−1).Our findings reaffirmed that an organic ferroelectric material(γ-GC)can act as a transient liquid phase in a CSP that can successfully and sustainably fabricateγ-GC/BT composites at low temperatures while delivering outstandingly high performance.

Aggregating demand side flexibility is essential to complementing the inflexible and variable renewable energy supply in achieving low carbon energy *** of demand side flexibility,e.g.,dispatchable generators,storage,and flexible loads,can be structured in a form of microgrids and collectively provided to utility grids through transactive energy in local energy *** paper proposes a framework of local energy markets to manage this transactive energy and facilitate the flexibility *** distribution system operator aims to achieve local energy balance by scheduling the operation of multi-microgrids and determining the imbalance *** microgrid traders aim to maximize profits for their prosumers through dispatching flexibility sources and participating in localised energy *** decision making and interactions between a distribution system operator and multiple microgrid traders are formulated as the Stackelberg game-theoretic *** studies using the IEEE 69-bus distribution system demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed model in terms of facilitating local energy balance and reducing dependency on the utility grids.

Observing the evolution of graphene layers at high current density

Graphene has demonstrated its potential in several practical applications owing to its remarkable electronic and physical properties. In this study, we successfully fabricated a suspended graphene device with a width down to 20 nm. The morphological evolution of graphene under various electric field effects was systematically examined using an in-situ transmission electron microscope （teM）. The hourglass-shaped graphene sample instantly broke apart at 7.5 mA, indicating an impressive breakdown current density. The current-carrying capacity was calculated to be -1.6 × 10^9 ***-2, which is several orders higher than that of copper. The current-carrying capacity depended on the resistivity of graphene. In addition, atomic volume changes occurred in the multilayer graphene samples due to surface diffusion and Ostwald ripening （OR）, indicating that the breakdown mechanism is well approximated by the electric field. This study not only provides a theory to explain the breakdown behavior but also presents the effects on materials contacted with a graphene layer used as the transmission path.

A Survey on Mixed Spin P-Fields

The mixed spin P-fields （MSP for short） theory sets up a geometric platform to relate Gromov-Witten invariants of the quintic three-fold and Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten invariants of the quintic polynomial in five variables. It starts with Wittens vision and the P-fields treatment of GW invariants and FJRW invaxiants. Then it briefly discusses the master space technique and its application to the set-up of the MSP moduli. Some key results in MSP theory are explained and some examples are provided.

BACKGROUND Radiologic adjacent segment degeneration(ASDeg)can occur after spinal *** segment disease(ASDis)is defined as the development of new clinical symptoms corresponding to radiographic changes adjacent to the level of previous spinal *** pre-existing ASDeg is generally considered to result in more severe ASDis;nonetheless,whether the ASDeg status before index surgery influences the postoperative risk of revision surgery due to ASDis warrants *** To identify possible risk factors for ASDis and verify the concept that greater preexisting ASDeg leads to more severe *** Data from 212 patients who underwent posterior decompression with Dynesys stabilization from January 2006 to June 2016 were retrospectively *** who underwent surgery for ASDis were categorized as group A(n=13),whereas those who did not were classified as group B(n=199).Survival analysis and Cox proportional hazards models were used to compare the modified Pfirrmann grade,University of California-Los Angeles grade,body mass index,number of Dynesys-instrumented levels,and *** The mean time of reoperation was 7.22(1.65–11.84)years in group A,and the mean follow-up period was 6.09(0.10–12.76)years in group *** significant difference in reoperation risk was observed:Modified Pfirrmann grade 3 vs 4(P=0.53)or 4 vs 5(P=0.46)for the upper adjacent disc,University of California-Los Angeles grade 2 vs 3 for the upper adjacent segment(P=0.66),age of60 years(P=0.9),body mass index25 kg/m2(P=0.3),and sex(P=0.8).CONCLUSION Greater preexisting upper ASDeg was not associated with a higher rate of reoperation for ASDis after Dynesys *** overweight tended to increase reoperation risk after Dynesys surgery for ASDis.

BACKGROUND Rectal melanoma is an uncommon neoplasm that accounts for approximately 1 percent of rectal cancer *** resection was regarded as the radical procedure for disease ***,it led to more postoperative complications than sphincter-sparing wide local excision(WLE)and reduced the patient’s quality of life(QOL)owing to creation of ***,in this study,WLE,radiotherapy(RT),and a second WLE were conducted on a patient who had been diagnosed with localized rectal *** SUMMARY The patient was a 79-year-old woman who had been experiencing anal pain and bloody stool for 1 ***,magnetic resonance imaging,positron emission tomography–computed tomography,and histological analysis of tissue biopsy using the histological markers Melan-A(+),S-100(+),and Ki-67(+,50%)lead to the diagnosis of localized rectal *** patient had initially undergone WLE to resolve problem of anal bleeding,followed by RT to treat the residual lesion with partial ***,the residual lesion was removed with margin-free resection by the second *** patient’s postoperative course was smooth and *** the 2-year follow-up,no local recurrence was ***,a good functional outcome and improved QOL were *** Combining WLE,RT,and repeat WLE is proposed as a viable alternative for treating rectal melanoma accompanied by bleeding symptoms that cannot be completely resected at the beginning.

Charmed andϕmeson decay constants from 2+1-flavor lattice QCD

On a lattice with 2+1-flavor dynamical domain-wall fermions at the physical pion mass,we calculate the decay constants of D_s^(*) , D^(*) ,and φ .The lattice size is 48^3×96 ,which corresponds to a spatial extension of -5.5 fm,with a lattice spacing of a\approx a≈0.114 *** the valence light,strange,and charm quarks,we use overlap fermions at several mass points close to their physical *** results at the physical point are f_(D)=213(5) MeV, f_(D)_(s)=249(7) MeV, f_(D)^(*)=234(6) MeV, f_(D)_(s)^(*)=274(7) MeV,and f_(D)_(s)=241(9) *** couplings of D^(*) and D_s^(*) to the tensor current( f_(V)^(T) )can be derived from ratios f_(D)^(*)^T/f_(D)^(*)=0.91(4) and f_(D)_(s)^(*)^T/f_(D)_(s)^(*)=0.92(4) ,respectively,which are the first lattice quantum chromodynamics(QCD)*** also obtain ratios f_(D)^(*)/f_(D)=1.10(3) and f_(D)_(s)^(*)/f_(D)_(s)=1.10(4) ,which reflect the size of heavy quark symmetry breaking in charmed *** f_(D)_(s)/f_(D)=1.16(3) and f_(D)_(s)^(*)/f_(D)^(*)=1.17(3) can be taken as a measure of SU(3)flavor symmetry breaking.

Lycium barbarum(LB)is a traditional Chinese medicine that has been demonstrated to exhibit a wide variety of biological functions,such as antioxidation,neuroprotection,and immune *** of the main mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease is that microglia activated by amyloid beta(Aβ)transform from the resting state to an M1 state and release pro-inflammatory cytokines to the surrounding *** the present study,immortalized microglial cells were pretreated with *** extract for 1 hour and then treated with oligomeric Aβfor 23 *** results showed that LB extract significantly increased the survival of oligomeric Aβ-induced microglial cells,downregulated the expression of M1 pro-inflammatory markers(inducible nitric oxide synthase,tumor necrosis factorα,interleukin-6,and interleukin-1β),and upregulated the expression of M2 anti-inflammatory markers(arginase-1,chitinase-like protein 3,and interleukin-4).LB extract also inhibited the oligomeric Aβ-induced secretion of tumor necrosis factorα,interleukin-6,and interleukin-1βin microglial *** results of in vitro cytological experiments suggest that,in microglial cells,LB extract can inhibit oligomeric Aβ-induced M1 polarization and concomitant inflammatory reactions,and promote M2 polarization.

Curriculum Adaptation in Special Schools for Students with Intellectual Disabilities(SID):A Case Study of Project Learning in One SID School in Hong Kong

Using a qualitative case study approach,the authors analyzed the curriculum adaptation process for one project learning activity in School K,which is a SID school in the context of school-university *** sources of data were collected for triangulation,including interviews,documents and *** adaptation strategies in this study were analyzed from five perspectives:instructional goals,instructional content,instructional strategies,instructional settings,and student behavioral *** was found that curriculum adaptation efforts could help students with ID develop potential at their own level through project learning activates and teachers could also gain professional development during the university-school collaboration *** for future studies,enlarging the sample size,involving teachers’past orientations and motivations in the project learning process,and collecting quantitative data could all be taken into account.
