Investig.tion of Cavitation in NaCl Solutions in a Sonochemical Reactor Using.the Foil Test Method

Ultrasonic baths and sonochemical reactors are widely used in industrial applications dealing.with surface cleaning.nd chemical synthesis. The processes of erosion, cleaning.and structuring.of the surface can be typically controlledby chang.ng.relevant influential parameters. In particular, in this work, we experimentally investig.te theeffect of NaCl concentration (0–5.5 mol/L) on the erosion of an aluminum foil under ultrasonic exposure at afrequency of 28 kHz. Special attention is paid to the determination of cavitation zones and their visualizationusing.heat maps. It is found that at low NaCl concentration (0.3 mol/L), the foil destruction rate is hig.er thanin distilled water. At hig.er concentrations of salt, cavitation takes place mainly in the upper part of the container.

The markers in complex with Eu3+ ions possess stability in the aqueous phase, intense and prolong.d luminescence (τ 550 - 570 μs) with characteristic emission maxima in the reg.on of 615 nm and excitation waveleng.hs in the reg.on of 380 - 390 nm, which disting.ishes them from most of the analog. used. BACKg.OUND Screening.for iron deficiency anemia(IDA)is important in manag.ng.pediatric patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).Concerns related to adverse reactions may contribute to a reluctance to prescribe intravenous(IV)iron to treat IDA in this *** To track the efficacy and safety of IV iron therapy in treating.IDA in pediatric IBD patients admitted to our *** A long.tudinal observational cohort study was performed on 236 consecutive pediatric patients admitted to our tertiary IBD care center between September 2017 and December 2019.92 patients met study criteria for IDA,of which 57 received IV iron,17 received oral iron,and 18 were discharg.d prior to receiving.iron *** Patients treated with IV iron during.their hospitalization experienced a sig.ificant increase of 1.9(±0.2)g.dL in mean(±SE)hemog.obin(Hb)concentration by the first ambulatory follow-up,compared to patients who received oral iron 0.8(±0.3)g.dL or no iron 0.8(±0.3)g.dL(P=0.03).One out of 57(1.8%)patients that received IV iron therapy experienced an adverse *** Our finding. demonstrate that treatment with IV iron therapy is safe and efficacious in improving.Hb and iron levels in pediatric patients with IDA and active IBD.

Structure and heterog.neity of habitat determine diet of predators despite prey abundance:Similar response in Long.eared,Short-eared Owls and Common Kestrels

According.to one of the theses of optimal forag.ng.theory,main prey species abundance in the hunting.area is the main factor determining.the diet and habitat choices of birds of *** other factors can also be *** habitat structure influences the predators’diets as *** this study we examined the influence of habitat structure on diet compositions of three species of birds:Long.eared Owl(Asio otus),Short-eared Owl(***)and Common Kestrel(Falco tinnunculus).The study was carried out from 2007 to 2019 in a 48 km2area of the Crane’s Homeland Reserve,Moscow Reg.on,*** habitat structures of model species’hunting.territories(ratio of different types of landscape elements)were classified in module"Semi-Automatic Classification Plug.n"based on the Qg.S.A boosted reg.ession tree analysis identified that the share of the main prey species in the diet is primarily determined by the landscape structure of hunting.*** larg.st share of Common Vole(Microtus arvalis)in birds’diet was determined by the shrubs area(15%of hunting.area),the meadow area(75%),the habitat heterog.neity(70%)and the arable land area(5%).The same predictors determined the larg.st share of Root Vole(Microtus oeconomus):the shrubs area 25%,the meadow area 70%,and the arable land area 3%.The annual mean abundance of prey species did not determine their importance in the diet of birds of ***,the main prey abundance in the hunting.area is not a determining.factor for the formation of diet composition of birds of prey.
