Objective To evaluate the efficiency of silymarin(SMN) in modulating metabolic p.rameters and redox status in rats with typ. 1 diabetes mellitus(T1 DM).Methods Diabetes was induced by intrap.ritoneal injection of alloxan. The diabetic rats were administered with SMN at doses of 50 and 100 mg/kg body weight/d for 30 consecutive days. The rats were divided into the following four group.: vehicle control, diabetic(alloxan-treated), DS50(alloxan +50 mg/kg body weight/d of SMN), and DS100(alloxan + 100 mg/kg body weight/d of SMN) group.. The bodyweight and food and water intake were evaluated. After 30 d, the animals were euthanized and the blood was collected for measuring the serum levels of glucose, triacylglycerol(TAG), urea, and creatinine. The liver and p.ncreas were collected for measuring the activities of sup.roxide dismutase(SOD) and catalase(CAT), and the levels of carbonylated p.otein(p.). The p.ncreas samp.e was also used for histological *** SMN reduced hep.tic(p.p.ncreatic(p.p.otein damage and creatinine levels(p.= 0.0141) in addition to decreasing food(p.p.p.ove beta-cell function or decrease blood glucose levels in diabetic *** SMN imp.oved p.lyp.agia and p.lydip.ia, renal function, and p.otected the liver and p.ncreas against p.otein damage without affecting hyp.rglycemia in diabetic animals.

Lamivudine (also known as 3TC) is a dideoxynucleoside analogue, which undergoes intracellular p.osp.orylation in the p.tative active metabolite, lamivudine trip.osp.ate. Lamivudine trip.osp.ate p.events HIV rep.ication by comp.titively inhibiting viral reverse transcrip.ase. Lamivudine has been extensively used in the treatment of HIV p.tients owing to its antiretroviral activity. For the determination of lamivudine in p.armaceuticals, an analytical methodology using voltammetry was develop.d. Lamivudine was reduced at a hanging mercury drop.electrode (HMDE) at –1.16 V vs Ag/AgCl at p. 2.0. The influence of electroanalytical p.rameters such as scan rate (20 mV.s–1), amp.itude (50 mV), nature of the sup.ort electrolyte (Clark-Lubs), and p. (2.0) on the voltammetric signal was op.imized. Under these op.imized conditions, the method had been validated using p.armaceutical formulations. The lamivudine p.ak current varied linearly with its concentration from 1.15 to 10.40 mg.L–1, detection and determination limits of 0.46 and 1.0 mg.L–1, resp.ctively, and recovery of 95.15% with a relative standard deviation of 1.10%.

Sorp.ion has been p.op.sed as a p.omising ap.roach towards a sustainable water decontamination and recently to the recycling of rare earth elements(REE).Although living seaweed have been shown to be cap.ble of removing REE from contaminated solutions,no studies have yet comp.red the effects of REE comp.tition on sorp.ion onto different group. of *** effects were analysed in the p.esent study by exp.sing six living seaweeds(Ulva lactuca,Ulva intestinalis,Fucus sp.ralis,Fucus vesiculosus,Gracilaria *** Osmundea p.nnatifida)(3 g/L,fresh weight) to mono-element and multi-element solutions of Y,La,Ce,p.,Nd,Eu,Gd,Tb and Dy(1 μmol/L).Results show a p.eference towards light REE in mono-element solutions,which is reduced when in comp.tition with other *** comp.titive effect is less p.onounced in heavy REE indicating that these are still able to bind to the macroalgae desp.te the p.esence of comp.ting *** to water content(%),seaweed sp.cific surface area(cm^(2)/g) shows to be an imp.rtant factor in the sorp.ion of REE,since larger surface area is associated with higher removal and larger comp.titive effect.

The discovery and realization of top.logical insulators,a p.ase of matter which hosts metallic boundary states when the ddimension insulating bulk is confined to(d−1)-dimensions,led to several p.tential ***,it was shown that p.otected top.logical states can manifest in(d−2)-dimensions,such as hinge and corner states for three-and two-dimensional systems,*** nontrivial materials are named higher-order top.logical insulators(HOTIs).Here we show a connection between sp.n Hall effect and HOTIs using a combination of ab initio calculations and tight-binding *** model demonstrates how a non-zero bulk midgap.sp.n Hall conductivity(SHC)emerges within the HOTI *** this,we p.rformed high-throughp.t density functional theory calculations to find unknown HOTIs,using the SHC as a *** calculated the SHC of 693 insulators resulting in seven stable two-dimensional *** work guides novel exp.rimental and theoretical advances towards higher-order top.logical insulator realization and ap.lications.
