The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is known to cause gastrointestinal *** studies have revealed COVID-19-attributed acute pancreatitis(AP).However,clinical characteristics of COVID-19-attributed AP remain *** performed a narrative review to elucidate relation between COVID-19 and AP using the PubMed *** basic and pathological reports revealed expression of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 and transmembrane protease serine 2,key proteins that aid in the entry of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)into the *** experimental and pathological evaluation suggested that SARS-CoV-2 infects human endocrine and exocrine pancreas cells,and thus,SARS-CoV-2 may have a direct involvement in pancreatic ***,systemic inflammation,especially in children,may cause *** of immune mediators associated with AP,including interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-10,interferon-γ,monocyte chemotactic protein 1,and tumor necrosis factor-αare higher in the plasma of patients with COVID-19,that suggests an indirect involvement of the *** real-world settings,some clinical features of AP complicate COVID-19,such as a high complication rate of pancreatic necrosis,severe AP,and high ***,clinical features of COVID-19-attributed AP remain uncertain due to insufficient research on etiologies of ***,high-quality clinical studies and case reports that specify methods for differential diagnoses of other etiologies of AP are needed.

Hepatitis B virus X protein induces hepatic stem cell-like features in hepatocellular carcinoma by activating KDM5B

AIM To determine the role of hepatitis B virus X protein(HBx), HBx in regulating hepatic progenitor cell(HPC)-like features in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and the underlying molecular *** We used a retrovirus vector to introduce wild type HBx or empty vector into Hep G2 cells. We then used these cells to analyze cell proliferation, senescence, transformation, and stem-like features. Gene expression profiling was carried out on Affymetrix GeneC hip Human U133A2.0 ver.2 arrays according to the manufacturer's protocol. Unsupervised hierarchical clustering analysis and Class Comparison analysis were performed by BRB-Array Tools software Version 4.2.2. A total of 238 hepatitis B virus(HBV)-related HCC patients' array data were used for analyzing clinical *** The histone demethylase KDM5 B was significantlyhighly expressed in HBV-related HCC cases(P < 0.01). In HBV proteins, only HBx up-regulated KDM5 B by activating c-myc. Hepatic stem cell(Hp SC) markers(EpC AM, AFP, PROM1, and NANOG) were significantly highly expressed in KDM5B-high HCC cases(P < 0.01). KDM5 B played an important role in maintaining HpS Clike features and was associated with a poor prognosis. Moreover, inhibition of KDM5 B suppressed spheroid formation and cell invasion in *** HBx activates the histone demethylase KDM5 B and induces HPC-like features in HCC. Histone demethylases KDM5 B may be an important therapeutic target against HBV-related HCC cases.

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy (EUS-FNA) is a useful procedure that enables reliable pathological diagnoses of pancreatobiliary diseases, subepithelial lesions, and swollen lymph nodes. In recent years, a pathological diagnosis based on EUS-FNA has made it possible to provide accurate treatment methods not only in these fields, but also in respiratory organs and otorhinolaryngology. This review discusses the latest topics pertaining to EUS-FNA as well as procedural tips.

Spontaneous Uterine Perforation Secondary to Leiomyosarcoma Arising in a Uterine Leiomyoma

Histogenesis of uterine leiomyosarcoma has been controversial. It is generally believed that uterine leiomyosarcomas arise de novo, rather than from any precursor lesions. We report an unusual case of spontaneous rupture of leiomyosarcoma arising in pre-existing calcified uterine leiomyoma, which has been monitored over the years after menopause. This case also suggests that spontaneous intraperitoneal hemorrhage associated with malignant transformation of uterine leiomyoma, although rare, should be considered in postmenopausal women presenting with rapid growing uterine mass.

Local advanced rectal cancer perforation in the midst of preoperative chemoradiotherapy:A case report and literature review

Standard chemoradiotherapy(CRT) for local advanced rectal cancer(LARC) rarely induce rectal perforation. Here we report a rare case of rectal perforation in a patient with LARC in the midst of preoperative CRT. A 56-year-old male was conveyed to our hospital exhibiting general malaise. Colonoscopy and imaging tests resulted in a clinical diagnosis of LARC with direct invasion to adjacent organs and regional lymphadenopathy. Preoperative 5-fluorouracil-based CRT was started. At 25 d after the start of CRT, the patient developed a typical fever. Computed tomography revealed rectal perforation, and he underwent emergency sigmoid colostomy. At 12 d after the surgery, the remaining CRT was completed according to the original plan. The histopathological findings after radical operation revealed a wide field of tumor necrosis and fibrosis without lymph node metastasis. We share this case as important evidence for the treatment of LARC perforation in the midst of preoperative CRT.
