Evolution and application of in-seam drilling for gas drainage

The presence of seam gas in the form of methane or carbon dioxide presents a hazard to underground coal mining ***-seam drilling has been undertaken for the past three decades for gas drainage to reduce the risk of gas outburst and lower the concentrations of seam gas in the underground *** drilling practices have reflected the standards of the times and have evolved with the development of technology and equipment and the needs to provide a safe mining environment *** practice was to adapt equipment from other felds,with rotary drilling being the only form of drilling *** form of drainage allowed various levels of gas drainage coverage but with changing emphasis,research and development within the coal industry has created specifc equipment,technology and practices to accurately place in-seam boreholes to provide effcient and effective gas *** into gas content determination established a standard for the process and safe levels for mining operations to *** technology improved from the wire-line,single-shot Eastman survey instruments which was time-dependent on borehole depth to electronic instruments located in the drill string which transmitted accurate survey data to the drilling crew without time *** allowed improved directional control and increased drilling *** drilling technology has now been established as the industry standard to provide effective gas drainage *** was identifed as an additional beneft with directional drilling as it has the ability to provide exploration data from long *** ability of the technology to provide safe and reliable means to investigate the need for inrush protection and water drainage ahead of mining has been *** drilling technology has now been introduced to the Chinese coal industry for gas drainage through a practice of auditing,design,supply,training and ongoing ***

The Incidence of Rotavirus and Adenovirus Infections among Children with Diarrhea in Sulaimani Province, Iraq

Human rotavirus and adenovirus infections are major causes of acute outbreaks and sporadic cases of gastroenteritis, occurring primarily among children less than 5 years of age. Little is known about the epidemiology of rotavirus and enteric adenovirus infections in Sulaimani and Iraq. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence and clinical significance of rotavirus and enteric adenovirus gastroenteritis and also to determine possible risk factors for rotavirus and adenovirus gastroenteritis using new simple rapid screening test (VIKIA ROTA AND ADENO). This is a qualitative test based on the immunochromatography technique. In the study, one hundred children less than 5 years of age with acute gastroenteritis admitted to Sulaimani Paediatric Hospital were studied. Rotavirus was identified in 22% of the children, adenovirus was identified in 3% of the children, and mixed rotavirus and adenovirus was identified in 2% of the children. All positive cases were younger than 2 years of age. The findings show that rotavirus is most commonly detected. However, there were no significant associations between rotavirus and adenovirus and gender, type of feeding, geographical distribution, the source of drinking water, and the past history of admission to hospital.

The present research paper presents the synthesis, characterization, biological and computational studies of 4-(benzylideneamino) benzoic acid derivatives(3a~3g). Derivatives 3a~3c displayed best antidiabetic potential with a glucose-lowering effect compared to the reference drug Glibenclamide. Biochemical parameters including plasma glucose, serum triglycerides, cholesterol, alanine amino transferase and aspartate amino transferase levels showed significant alterations in concentrations relative to the control. Similarly, the derivatives 3a, 3d and 3e displayed potent in vitro antibacterial potential. Molecular docking simulations delineated that the ligands and complexes were stabilized at the active site by electrostatic and hydrophobic forces, consistent with the corresponding experimental results. In silico study of the binding pattern predicted that the synthesized ligands, 3d and 3a could serve as a potential surrogate for hit-to-lead generation and the design of novel antibacterial drugs.

Molecular and Serological Detection of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Virus in Sulaimani Province, Iraq

Background: Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV) is a member of the Nairovirus genus in the Bunyaviridae family and is transmitted by ticks of the Hyalomma genus. It causes severe disease in humans with mortality rates between 3% and 30%. The first case in Iraq was reported in 1979;immediately thereafter, 10 cases were reported, resulting in seven deaths. Several cases were also reported in 1980 in Halabja city in Iraq’s Sulaimani province. Methods: Blood samples were collected from two study populations, human and cattle, including butchers working at a slaughterhouse. Ticks were also collected for virus detection from three villages in the Sharazoor district of Sulaimani province. Results: Results of the Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) were negative for all human and cattle sera. The tissue prepared from ticks also was negative for CCHFV. An Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) technique showed that 30 (46.87%) of 64 human sera were positive for the anti-CCHFV IgG antibody. Conclusion: Results show that symptomatic Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is an uncommon disease in the Sulaimani province of Iraq and no clinical cases is reported, due to the eradication of ticks implemented by veterinary authorities. However, other preventive approaches and strategies should be implemented and monitored regularly by local authorities.

Darcy–Forchheimer Three-Dimensional Flow of Williamson Nanofluid over a Convectively Heated Nonlinear Stretching Surface

The present study elaborates three-dimensional flow of Williamson nanoliquid over a nonlinear stretchable surface. Fluid flow obeys Darcy–Forchheimer porous medium. A bidirectional nonlinear stretching surface generates the flow. Convective surface condition of heat transfer is taken into consideration. Further the zero nanoparticles mass flux condition is imposed at the boundary. Effects of thermophoresis and Brownian diffusion are considered. Assumption of boundary layer has been employed in the problem formulation. Convergent series solutions for the nonlinear governing system are established through the optimal homotopy analysis method(OHAM). Graphs have been sketched in order to analyze that how the velocity, temperature and concentration distributions are affected by distinct emerging flow parameters. Skin friction coefficients and local Nusselt number are also computed and discussed.

Coronary artery disease(CAD)is one of themost authentic cardiovascular afflictions because it is an uncommonly overwhelming heart *** breakdown of coronary cardiovascular disease is one of the principal sources of death all over *** deterioration is a challenge,especially in youthful and rural countries where there is an absence of humantrained *** heart diseases happen without apparent signs,high-level detection is *** paper proposed a robust and tuned random forest model using the randomized grid search technique to *** proposed framework increases the ability of CADpredictions by tracking down risk pointers and learning the confusing joint efforts between ***,the healthcare industry has a lot of data but needs to gain more *** proposed framework is used for extracting knowledge from data stores and using that knowledge to help doctors accurately and effectively diagnose heart disease(HD).We evaluated the proposed framework over two public databases,Cleveland and Framingham *** datasets were preprocessed by using a cleaning technique,a normalization technique,and an outlier detection ***,the principal component analysis(PCA)algorithm was utilized to lessen the feature dimensionality of the two ***,we used a hyperparameter tuning technique,randomized grid search,to tune a random forest(RF)machine learning(ML)*** randomized grid search selected the best parameters and got the ideal CAD *** proposed framework was evaluated and compared with traditional *** proposed framework’s accuracy,sensitivity,precision,specificity,and f1-score were 100%.The evaluation of the proposed framework showed that it is an unrivaled perceptive outcome with tuning as opposed to other ongoing existing frameworks.

Study of the degradation behavior and the biocompatibility of Mg-0.8Ca alloy for orthopedic implant applications

Mg-Ca alloys have recently attracted great attention towards the research in the field of orthopedic biodegradable *** study presents an in vitro degradation assessment of Mg-0.8Ca(0.8 wt.%of Ca)alloy in Hank’s balanced salt solution(HBSS).Immersion,hydrogen evolution and electrochemical behavior was studied as well as the cytotoxicity of the degradation *** and phase composition of the corrosion products were studied using SEM,EDX and XRD *** in HBSS resulted in the formation of the needle-shaped carbonated hydroxyapatite which was similar to the biological apatite in the human *** kinetics showed that Mg-0.8Ca alloy had approximately 3-fold faster degradation rate than the pure Mg(1.08±0.38 mm/year for Mg-0.8Ca and 0.35±0.17 mm/year for pure Mg),as observed in two independent ***,pure Mg and Mg-0.8Ca alloy were biocompatible,generating no cytotoxic degradation products against human-derived HEK 293 ***,the Mg-0.8Ca alloy was found to be a promising biodegradable implant in terms of bioactivity and compatibility with human cell *** on the application of the implant and the estimated healing time of the bone,the desired degradation rate of an implant can be controlled by the Mg-Ca composition of such alloys.

Functional brain imaging of gastrointestinal sensation in health and disease

It has since long been known, from everyday experience as well as from animal and human studies, that psychological processes-both affective and cognitive- exert an influence on gastrointestinal sensorimotor function. More specifically, a link between psychological factors and visceral hypersensitivity has been suggested, mainly based on research in functional gastrointestinal disorder patients. However, until recently, the exact nature of this putative relationship remained unclear, mainly due to a lack of non-invasive methods to study the （neurobiological） mechanisms underlying this relationship in non-sleeping humans. As functional brain imaging, introduced in visceral sensory neuroscience some 10 years ago, does provide a method for in vivo study of brain-gut interactions, insight into the neurobiological mechanisms underlying visceral sensation in general and the influence of psychological factors more particularly, has rapidly grown. In this article, an overview of brain imaging evidence on gastrointestinal sensation will be given, with special emphasis on the brain mechanisms underlying the interaction between affective ＆ cognitive processes and visceral sensation. First, the reciprocal neural pathways between the brain and the gut （brain- gut axis） will be briefly outlined, including brain imaging evidence in healthy volunteers. Second, functional brain imaging studies assessing the influence of psychological factors on brain processing of visceral sensation in healthy humans will be discussed in more detail. Finally, brain imaging work investigating differences in brain responses to visceral distension between healthy volunteers and functional gastrointestinal disorder patients will be highlighted.
