Compatible package-based agriculture systems:an urgent need for agro-ecological balance and climate change adaptation

Besides contributing majorly in the growth of a country,agriculture is one of the severely affected sectors at *** modifications and adaptations are being made in agricultural practices to cope-up with the declining soil fertility and changing climate scenarios across the ***,the development and adoption of a single agricultural practice may not help in the holistic mitigation of the impacts of climate change and may result in economic vulnerability to ***,it is high time to develop and recommend a group of agricultural practices i.e.,package-based agriculture system having some compatibility for one another in the long *** this article,a viewpoint has been given on some emergent agronomic practices adopted in the tropical agroecosystems which have potential to be developed as compatible agricultural package in ***,we also emphasized on exploring some key indicators/environmental factors to assess the compatibility of different agronomic *** identifying the research transition from single to combined agricultural practices,a bibliometric analysis was performed by using conservation agriculture(CA),the system of rice intensification(SRI),organic agriculture and soil(biochar)amendment as the major agronomic practices being used for improving agroecological services such as improving nutrient cycling,soil fertility and crop productivity as well as climate change *** results revealed that scientific communities are now paying attention to exploring the role of combined agricultural practices for agro-ecological balance and climate change ***,the limitations of the adoption of agronomic packages under different agro-climatic zones have also been *** recommendations of the study would further help the environmental decision-makers to develop potential measures for climate change mitigation without compromising the agro-ecological balance.

The objective of the work is to investigate the classifcation of different movements based on the surface electromyogram(SEMG)pattern recognition *** testing was conducted for four arm movements using several experiments with artificial neural network class fication *** time domain features were extracted and consequently dlassification was implemented using back propagation neural dassifier(BPNC).Further,the realization of projected network was verified using cross validation(CV)process;hence ANOVA algorithm was carried *** of the network is analyzed by considering mean square error(MSE)value.A comparison was performed between the extracted feat ures and back propagation network results reported in the *** concurrent result indicates the significance of proposed network with classification accuracy(CA)of 100%recorded from two channels,while analysis of variance technique helps in investigating the effectiveness of classified sigmal for recognition tasks.

Frequency of alcohol and smoking cessation counseling in hepatitis C patients among internists and gastroenterologists

Propagation delay and power dissipation for different aspect ratio of single-walled carbon nanotube bundled TSV

Through-silicon vias （TSVs） have provided an attractive solution for three-dimensional （3D） integrated devices and circuit technologies with reduced parasitic losses and power dissipation, higher input-output （I/O） den- sity and improved system performance. This paper investigates the propagation delay and average power dissipation of single-walled carbon nanotube bundled TSVs having different via radius and height. Depending on the physical configuration, a comprehensive and accurate analytical model of CNT bundled TSV is employed to represent the via （vertical interconnect access） line of a driver-TSV-load （DTL） system. The via radius and height are used to estimate the bundle aspect ratio （AR） and the cross-sectional area. For a fixed via height, the delay and the power dissipation are reduced up to 96.2% using a SWCNT bundled TSV with AR = 300 ： 1 in comparison to AR = 6：1.

Prevalence of hypertension in India:A meta-analysis

AIM: To determine the prevalence of hypertension in the urban and rural population of ***: Relevant studies were identified through computer based and manual searches using MEDLINE/ Pub Med, Google scholar, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and reference lists of prevalence studies from January 2000 to June 2012. A total of 12 studies were included in the meta-analysis of hypertension in urban India and 10 studies in the analysis of hypertension in rural India after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Estimates of prevalence were calculated using the random effect model for ***: The electronic search using appropriate keywords identified 177 titles for prevalence of hypertension in urban India, of which 165 were excluded, and 133 titles for prevalence in rural India, of which123 were excluded after applying the inclusion criteria. Twelve studies including 125333 subjects were analyzed to assess the prevalence of hypertension in the urban Indian population, whereas ten studies including 24800 subjects were analyzed to determine the prevalence of hypertension in the rural Indian population. The prevalence of hypertension in the urban population was estimated to be 40.8%(95%CI: 40.5%-41.0%) and that of hypertension in the rural population was 17.9%(95%CI: 17.5%-18.3%). It is evident that the prevalence of hypertension is significantly higher in the urban population of India compared to the rural. CONCLUSION: Current evidence suggests that policies and interventions should be prioritized for reduction of hypertension in the adult Indian population, especially the urban population.

AIM: To determine the cut-off values of body mass index(BMI) and waist circumference to predict hypertension in adults in north ***: A community based cross-sectional study was conducted in 801 subjects in Kanpur, aged 20 years and above, using multistage stratified random sampling technique. A pre-tested structured question-naire was used to elicit the required information from the study participants and the diagnostic criteria for hypertension were taken according to the Seventh Joint National Committee Report on Hypertension(JNC-7). Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) analysis was used to estimate the cut-off values of BMI and waist circumference to predict ***: The ROC analysis revealed that BMI is a good predictor of hypertension for both men(area under the ROC curve 0.714) and women(area under the ROC curve 0.821). The cut-off values of BMI for predicting hypertension were identified as ≥ 24.5 kg/m2 in men and ≥ 24.9 kg/m2 in women. Similarly, the ROC analysis for waist circumference showed that it is a good predictor of hypertension both for men(area under the ROC curve 0.784) and women(area under the ROC curve 0.815). The cut-offs for waist circumference for predicting hypertension were estimated as ≥ 83 cm for men and ≥ 78 cm for women. Adults with high BMI or high waist circumference had a higher prevalence of hypertension, ***: Simple anthropometric measurements such as BMI and waist circumference can be used for screening people at increased risk of hypertension in order to refer them for more careful and early diagnostic evaluation. Policies and programs are required for primary and secondary prevention of hypertension.

Seasonal variation in semen quality of swamp buffalo bulls （Bubalus bubalis） in Thailand

Aim： To test the hypothesis that season affects the semen quality of swamp buffalo （Bubalus bubalis） bulls used for artificial insemination （AI） under tropical conditions in Thailand, as it does in Bos taurus and Bos indicus. Methods： Clinical and andrological examinations, and monitoring of semen production and quality were carried out on five mature, healthy swamp buffalo AI bulls in Thailand from July 2004 to the end of June 2005. Sperm output, motility, morphology and plasma membrane integrity （PMI） were compared between three seasons of the year （rainy, i.e. July-October; winter, i.e. November-February; and summer, i.e. March-June） with distinct ambient temperature and humidity. Results： All bulls were diagnosed as clinically healthy and with good libido throughout the study. Ejaculate volume, pH, sperm concentration, total sperm number and initial sperm motility did not differ between seasons, whereas PMI and the relative proportion of morphologically normal spermatozoa were highest in summer and lowest in winter （P 〈 0.05）. Buffalo age, week of collection and season influenced sperm morphology （P 〈 0.05-0.001）. Among morphological abnormalities, only proportions of tail defects were affected by season, being highest in the rainy season and lowest in summer （P 〈 0.001）. In conclusion, climatic changes did not seem to largely affect semen sperm output or viability. Although the proportions of PMI and tail abnormalities were affected by season, they were always below what is considered unacceptable for AI bull sires. Conclusion： Seasonal changes did not appear to cause deleterious changes in sperm quality in swamp buffalo AI-sires in tropical Thailand.

Aceclofenac-Soluplus&reg Nanocomposites for Increased Bioavailability

Aceclofenac is a new generational Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID), and is considered a better alternative to the popular pain-killer diclofenac, as it overcomes some of the adverse gastrointestinal and cardiac side effects associated with the latter. However, the bioavailability of the drug remains limited due to low aqueous solubility (0.058 μg/mL) and poor dissolution characteristics. Hence, improving its dissolution characteristics is of prime significance in order to establish its optimal therapeutic efficacy. In an effort to tackle this issue, we report the use of novel Soluplus®-based nanocomposites, prepared from emulsion templates, as effective drug loading agent for aceclofenac. Nanoemulsion templates were prepared by high-shear homogenization using a probe sonicator. The emulsions were subsequently lyophilized to obtain free flowing powders. The amorphization of the drug with increasing polymer content was clearly observed from powder X-ray diffractogram, while the drug-polymer interaction was explored by FTIR spectroscopy. The phase purity and homogeneity of the formulation was characterized using Differential Scanning Calorimetry. The dissolution profiles of the formulations were established by an USP paddle apparatus. Phase solubility study was conducted to evaluate the effect of polymer concentration on aqueous solubility of aceclofenac. The values of Gibbs-free energy (ΔG°tr) associated with the aqueous solubility of aceclofenac in the presence of Soluplus was used to optimize the polymer content. The in vitro dissolution rates of aceclofenac from the nanoparticles were significantly higher compared to the pure drug. Thus, Soluplus nanoparticles provide promising formulations for the improvement of the dissolution profiles and thus, the bioavailability, of aceclofenac.
