Photoluminescence and radioluminescence properties of (Gd8Ca2)(SiO4)6O2 crystals with different concentrations of Ce

(GdCa)(SiO)Oapatite crystals doped with different concentrations of Ce were synthesized by the Floating Zone(FZ) method, and we have evaluated the photoluminescence(PL) and radio luminescence(RL) properties. In PL, an emission band appeared around 400 nm under excitation at 300 nm due to the5 d-4 f transitions of Ce3+. The PL decay curves were approximated by a second-order exponential decay function, and the derived decay time constants ranged around 20-25 ns and 40-480 ns. Similar emission was observed in RL, but the decay time constants were much longer than those in PL. The RL afterglow was the lowest in the 1.0% Ce-doped sample. The 1.0% and 2.0% Ce-doped samples showed a full-energy peak in the pulse height spectrum measured underAm 5.5 MeV α-ray irradiation, and the absolute scintillation light yields were estimated to be around 55 and 36 ph/5.5 MeV-a, respectively.

Plant root development is strongly affected by nutrient availability. Despite the importance of structure and function of roots in nutrient acquisition,statistical modeling approaches to evaluate dynamic and temporal modulations of root system architecture in response to nutrient availability have remained as widely open and exploratory areas in root biology. In this study,we developed a statistical modeling approach to investigate modulations of root system architecture in response to nitrogen availability. Mathematical models were designed for quantitative assessment of root growth and root branching phenotypes and their dynamic relationships based on hierarchical con figuration of primary and lateral roots formulating the fishbone-shaped root system architecture in Arabidopsis thaliana. Time-series datasets reporting dynamic changes in root developmental traits on different nitrate or ammonium concentrations were generated for statistical analyses. Regression analyses unraveled key parameters associated with：（i） inhibition of primary root growth under nitrogen limitation or on ammonium;（ii） rapid progression of lateral root emergence in response to ammonium; and（iii） inhibition of lateral root elongation in the presence of excess nitrate or ammonium. This study provides a statistical framework for interpreting dynamic modulation of root system architecture,supported by metaanalysis of datasets displaying morphological responses of roots to diverse nitrogen supplies.

Acquiring accurate scattering properties is important for rendering translucent materials. In particular, the phase function, which determines the distribution of scattering directions, plays a significant role in the appearance of a material. We propose a distinctive scattering theory that approximates the effect of single scattering to acquire the non-parametric phase function from a single image. Furthermore, in various experiments, we measured the phase functions from several real diluted media and rendered images of these materials to evaluate the effectiveness of our theory.

The effect of graft yield on both the thermo-responsive hydraulic permeability and the thermo-respousive diffusional permeability through porous membranes with plasma-grafted poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM)gates was investigated. Both thermo-respousive flat membranes and core-shell microcapsule membranes with a wide range of graft yield of PNIPAM were prepared using a plasma-graft pore-filling polymerization method. The grafted PNIPAM was formed homogeneously throughout the entire thickness of both the fiat polyethylene membranes andthe microcapsule polyamide membranes. Both the hydraulic permeability and the diffusional permeability were heavily dependent on the PNIPAM graft yield. With increasing the graft yield, the hydraulic permeability (water flux) decreases rapidly at 25℃ because of the decrease of the pore size; however, the water flux at 40℃ increases firstly to a peak because of the increase of hydrophobicity of the pore surface, and then decreases and finally tends to zero because of the pore size becoming smaller and smaller. For the diffusional permeability, the temperature shows different effects on the diffusional permeability coefficients of solutes across the membranes. When the graft yield was low, the diffusional coefficient of solute across the membrane was higher at temperature above the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) than that below the LCST; however, when the graft yield was high, the diffusional coefficient was lower at temperature above the LCST than that below the LCST. It is very important to choose or design a proper graft yield of PNIPAM for obtaining a desired thermo-respousive 'on/off' hydraulic or ditfusional permeability.

AIM: To investigate modulation of antagonist and agonist binding to adenosine A1receptors by MgCl2and 5'-guanylimidodiphosphate (Gpp（NH）p) using rat brain membranes and the A1antagonist [3H]-8-cyclopentyl-1,3-dipropylxanthine （[3H]DPCPX） and the A1agonist [3H]-2-chloro-N6-cyclopentyladenosine （[3H]CCPA）. METHODS: Parallel saturation and inhibition studies were performed using well-characterised radioligand binding assays and a Brandel Cell Harvester. RESULTS: MgCl2produced a concentration-dependent decrease （44%）, whereas Gpp（NH）p increased [3H]DPCPX binding （19%）. In [3H]DPCPX competition studies, agonist affinity was 1.5-14.6-fold higher and 4.6-10-fold lower in the presence of 10 mmol/L MgCl2and 10 μmol/L Gpp（NH）p respectively; antagonist affinity was unaffected. The decrease in agonist affinity with increasing Gpp（NH）p concentrations was due to a reduction in the proportion of binding to the high affinity receptor state. During the reproductive process of flowering plants, the pollen tube acts as a transportation carrier for two sperm cells, interacts with various female tissues, delivers the sperm to the ovule, and achieves double fertilization. Successful fertilization relies on fine growth control of the pollen tube tip in female tissues. This includes maintenance of pollen tube integrity in the pistil transmitting tract and the timing of rupture of the pollen tube when it reaches the female ovule ( Higashiyama, 2018 , Ge et al., 2019a ).

BACKGROUND Acquired hemophilia is *** some cases,the bleeding in muscle causes compartment ***,it is not clear whether fasciotomy should be performed for the compartment syndrome caused by acquired hemophilia because of the risk of bleeding and the unknown functional *** SUMMARY A 75-year-old woman was admitted with severe pain of the right forearm with no preceding traumatic *** right forearm was obviously swollen,and stretch pain was *** hematomas were suspected in various parts of the *** pressure was 110 mmHg on the volar *** partial thromboplastin time(aPTT)was prolonged to 54.9 *** was performed,and hematoma was observed in the volar *** laboratory examinations revealed a low level of factor Ⅷ(FⅧ)activity(12.5%)and a high level of FⅧ inhibitor(15.2 bethesda units/mL).Acquired hemophilia A was *** recombinant clotting factors were administered,transfusion of red blood cells reached 46 units(140 mL/unit).Hemostasis was achieved 9 d after *** total cost of the clotting factor concentrates administered reached 28834600 *** prednisolone,FⅧ activity and aPTT recovered *** function of the hand was good in the index finger and excellent in the *** Fasciotomy resulted in good function of the hand in a case of non-traumatic compartment syndrome caused by acquired hemophilia,but life-threatening bleeding occurred,and the cost of clotting factor treatment was *** of sufficient blood transfusion,preoperative administration of recombinant activated clotting factor Ⅶ,and prompt fasciotomy could be ideal for such cases.
