Background: Oral potentially malignant disorders, which include oral lichen planus (OLP), are clinical presentations that carry a risk of development to cancer in the oral cavity. Oral lichenoid lesions (OLLs) are also termed interface/lichenoid mucositis. Malignant transformation of them remains controversial, but distinct clinical and histological criteria for how to differentiate OLP from OLLs have not been developed. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to elucidate findings that can allow histopathological differentiation of OLP and OLLs using histomorphological and immunohistochemical analyses. Materials and Methods: Analyses were performed in 10 cases diagnosed with OLP and 9 cases diagnosed with OLLs. Cytokeratin 19 (CK19), Ki-67 and CD3 were used as primary antibodies to detect basal cells, proliferative activity and T-cell distribution, respectively, and Perlecan and COX-2 to evaluate epithelial intracellular arrangements and interstitial distributions of proteoglycans and enzymes. Results: For CK19, positive cells were significantly found in OLLs at both the prominent area and site adjacent to the lesion comparison with those of OLP’s. The number of COX-2 positive cells was significantly higher in spinous and basal layers in OLLs of the prominent area. Additionally, OLLs showed mild to moderate expression for perlecan in the basal to spinous layers and in subepithelial tissue. Conclusion:

Erosive hemorrhage due to pseudoaneurysm is one of the most life-threatening complications after ***,we report an extremely rare case of rupture of a pseudoaneurysm of the common hepatic artery(CHA)stump that developed after distal pancreatectomy with en block celiac axis resection(DP-CAR),and was successfully treated through covered stent *** patient is a 66-year-old woman who underwent DP-CAR after adjuvant chemoradiotherapy for locally advanced pancreatic body *** developed an intra-abdominal abscess around the remnant pancreas head 31 d after the surgery,and computed tomography(CT)showed an occluded portal vein due to the spreading inflammation around the *** general condition improved after CT-guided drainage of the ***,19 d later,she presented with melena,and CT showed a pseudoaneurysm arising from the CHA *** the CHA had been resected during the DP-CAR,this artery could not be used as the access route for endovascular treatment,and instead,we placed a covered stent via the inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery originating from the superior mesenteric *** stent placement,cessation of bleeding and anterograde hepatic artery flow were confirmed,and the patient recovered well without any further *** angiography at the 6-mo follow-up indicated the patency of the covered stent with sustained hepatic artery *** our knowledge,this is the first reported case of endovascular repair of a pseudoaneurysm that developed after DP-CAR.

Purpose: The purposes of this study were to estimate accumulated kV X-ray imaging dose throughout dynamic tumor tracking (DTT) irradiation by Vero 4DRT system and to address an analytical skin dose formula for well-balanced kV X-ray imaging conditions between skin dose and image noise. Method: First, skin dose was measured using kV X-ray tube, chamber, and water-equivalent phantoms. Next, imaging dose for six patients in DTT treatment was computed using log files. Subsequently, scattered dose ratio was calculated by amount of ionization in front of flat panel detector (FPD) for fields with size of maximum and the chamber for 0 - 200 mm-thickness phantoms and tube voltage of 60, 80, 100, 120 kV, respectively. Furthermore, image noise was computed from FPD images. Results: The skin dose was greater by a factor of 1.4 - 1.6 than those in Synergy XVI system. The image noise in FPD, ?was expressed as N = 0.045×(1/QFPDen)0.479, where QFPDen denotes amount of ionization in front of FPD. Then, skin dose, D (N, t, v) was formulated as (0.045/N)(1/0.479)/QFPDen/mAs (t, v) ×D/mAs (v), where QFPDen/mAs (t, v) and D/mAs (v) denote amount of ionization in front of FPD and skin dose per mAs, respectively. Using the formulae, it has been demonstrated that skin dose with 120 kV has become lower than any other tube voltage in this study. Conclusion: Using skin doses for the phantom, the skin dose throughout DTT irradiation was estimated as 0.50 Gy. Furthermore, skin dose by kV X-ray imaging was described as a function of image noise, phantom thickness, and tube voltage, suggesting image noise may be reduced with higher X-ray tube voltage in this phantom study.

Arsenic contamination is a major environmental issue,as it may lead to serious health *** reduced trivalent formof inorganic arsenic,arsenite,is in generalmore toxic to plants comparedwith the fully oxidized pentavalent *** arsenite inplants hasbeenshown tobemediatedthrough a large subfamily of plant aquaglyceroporins,nodulin 26-like intrinsic proteins(NIPs).However,the efflux mechanisms,as well as themechanismof arsenite-induced root growth inhibition,remain poorly *** physiology,synchrotron imaging,and root transport assay approaches,we show that the cellular transport of trivalent arsenicals inArabidopsis thalianais stronglymodulatedbyPINFORMED2(PIN2)auxin efflux *** transport assay using radioactive arsenite,X-ray fluorescence imaging(XFI)coupled with X-ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS),and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry analysis revealed that pin2 plants accumulate higher concentrations of arsenite in roots comparedwith the *** the cellular level,arsenite specifically targets intracellular sorting of PIN2 and thereby alters the cellular auxin ***,loss of PIN2 function results in arsenite hypersensitivity in *** coupled with XAS further revealed that loss of PIN2 function results in specific accumulation of arsenical species,but not the other metals such as iron,zinc,or calcium in the root ***,these results suggest that PIN2 likely functions as an arsenite efflux transporter for the distribution of arsenical species in planta.

Background: With transitions in the disease concept of orthokeratinized odontogenic cyst (OOC), the pathogenesis and etiology have not been sufficiently elucidated. Objectives: OOC cases were reclassified and observed to understand the clinico-histopathological characteristics. In addition, literature review of OOC was performed to better organize the pathology. Materials and methods: Subjects with jawbone cysts lined by keratinized stratified squamous epithelium from 2005 to 2018 were reclassified, and clinico-histopathological findings were analyzed. Previous reports of OOC/orthokeratinized-type odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) from 1980 to 2019 were organized. Results: Five cases of OOC were diagnosed, representing 2.1% of odontogenic developmental cysts (total, 239 cases). Mean age was 37.6 years, with a female predominance. The mandibular molar area was the frequent site, and all cysts were solitary. Sixty percent involved an impacted tooth. Mean maximum diameter of the cyst was 2.2 cm. Histopathologically, 4 cases were unilocular, and partial palisading of the basal layer and scattered epithelial islands were observed in 2 cases each and formation of daughter cysts was noted in 3 cases. Previous papers described that most were unilocular and related to impacted teeth. Mean age ranged between 20 and 40 years, and the mandibular molar region was dominant. Recurrence rates were low. Conclusion: OOC shows a different biological attitude to OKC and is closer to dentigerous cyst. Meanwhile, OOC shows a similar histology of epidermoid cysts accompanying the granular layer. We thus surmised that OCC represents an independent concept as an odontogenic developmental cyst.

BACKGROUND We recently reported on a hereditary enteropathy associated with a gene encoding a prostaglandin transporter and referred to as chronic enteropathy associated with SLCO2 A1 gene(CEAS). Crohn's disease(CD) is a major differential diagnosis of CEAS, because these diseases share some clinical features. Therefore, there is a need to develop a convenient screening test to distinguish CEAS from *** To examine whether prostaglandin E major urinary metabolites(PGE-MUM) can serve as a biomarker to distinguish CEAS from *** This was a transactional study of 20 patients with CEAS and 98 patients with *** was diagnosed by the confirmation of homozygous or compound heterozygous mutation of SLCO2 A1. We measured the concentration of PGEMUM in spot urine by radioimmunoassay, and the concentration was compared between the two groups of patients. We also determined the optimal cut-off value of PGE-MUM to distinguish CEAS from CD by receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve *** Twenty Japanese patients with CEAS and 98 patients with CD were ***-MUM concentration in patients with CEAS was significantly higher than that in patients with CD(median 102.7 vs 27.9 μg/g × Cre, P < 0.0001). One log unit increase in PGE-MUM contributed to 7.3 increase in the likelihood for the diagnosis of CEAS [95% confidence interval(CI) 3.2-16.7]. A logistic regression analysis revealed that the association was significant even after adjusting confounding factors(adjusted odds ratio 29.6, 95%CI 4.7-185.7). ROC curve analysis revealed the optimal PGE-MUM cut-off value for the distinction of CEAS from CD to be 48.9 μg/g × Cre with 95.0% sensitivity and 79.6% *** PGE-MUM measurement is a convenient, non-invasive and useful test for the distinction of CEAS from CD.

Background: Active rehabilitation of the paralyzed limb is necessary for functional recovery from upper limb paralysis after stroke.
