The main purpose of this paper is to obtain the inference of parameters of heterogeneous population represented by finite mixture of two Pareto (MTP) distributions of the second kind. The constant-partially accelerated life tests are applied based on progressively type-ii censored samples. The maximum likelihood estimates (MLEs) for the considered parameters are obtained by solving the likelihood equations of the model parameters numeri.ally. The Bayes estimators are obtained by using Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm under the balanced squared error loss function. Based on Monte Carlo simulation, Bayes estimators are compared with their corresponding maximum likelihood estimators. The two-sample prediction technique is considered to derive Bayesian prediction bounds for future order statistics based on progressively type-ii censored informative samples obtained from constant-partially accelerated life testing models. The informative and future samples are assumed to be obtained from the same population. The coverage probabilities and the average interval lengths of the confidence intervals are computed via a Monte Carlo simulation to investigate the procedure of the prediction intervals. Analysis of a simulated data set has also been presented for illustrative purposes. Fi.ally, comparisons are made between Bayesian and maximum likelihood estimators via a Monte Carlo simulation study.

in this paper the effects of temperature on the radial breathing modes （RBMs） and radial wave propaga- tion in multi.all carbon nanotubes （MWCNTs） are inves- tigated using a continuum model of multiple elastic isotropic shells. The van der Waals forces between tubes are simulated as a nonlinear function of interlayer spacing of MWCNTs. The governing equations are solved using a finite element method. A wide range of innermost radius-to-thickness ratio of MWCNTs is considered to enhance the investigation. The presented solution is verified by comparing the results with those reported in the literature. The effects of temperature on the van der Waals interaction coefficient between layers of MWCNTs are examined. it is found that the variation of the van der Waals interaction coefficient at high temperature is sensible. Subsequently, variations of RBM frequencies and radial wave propagation in MWCNTs with temperatures up to 1 600 K are illustrated. it is shown that the thick MWC- NTs are more sensible to temperature than the thin ones.

in this study,a route for simultaneous mineralization of CO2 and production of titanium dioxide and ammonium alum,and microporous silicon dioxide from titanium-bearing blast furnace slag(TBBF slag)was proposed,which is comprised of(NH4)2 S04 roasting,acid leaching,ammonium alum crystallization,silicic acid flocculation and Ti *** effects of relevant process parameters were systemati.ally *** re sults showed that under the opti.al roasting and leaching conditions about 85%of titanium and 84.6%of aluminum could be extracted while only 30%of silicon entered the leachate.84%of al^3+was crystallized from the leachate in the form of ammonium aluminum sulfate dodecahydrate with a purity up to 99.5 wt%.About 85%of the soluble silicic acid was flocculated with the aid of secondary alcohol polyoxyethylene ether 9(AEO-9)to yield a microporous SiO2 material(97.4 wt%)from the crystallized mother *** al-and Si-depleted solution was then hydrolyzed to generate a titanium dioxide(99.1 wt%)with uniform particle size *** was figured out that approximately 146 kg TiO2 could be produced from 1000 kg of TBBF ***,the improved process is a promising method for industrial application.

Twenty two haplotypes were generated from a pool of 60 unrelated Saudi β thalassemia major patients using previously described restriction sites in the β globin gene. Linkage disequilibrium analysis of the polymorphic sites was also conducted, a few identified haplotypes were novel while the remainder was previously reported, haplotype1222212 was the most frequent haplotype in the study group and a strong linkage disequilibrium between two polymorphic restriction sites in these β thalassemia patients was uncovered.

This article considers estimation of the unknown parameters for the compound Rayleigh distribution (CRD) based on a new life test plan called a progressive first failure-censored plan introduced by Wu and Kus (2009). We consider the maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference of the unknown parameters of the model, as well as the reliability and hazard rate functions. This was done using the conjugate prior for the shape parameter, and discrete prior for the scale parameter. The Bayes estimators hav been obtained relative to both symmetric (squared error) and asymmetric (LiNEX and general entropy (GE)) loss functions. it has been seen that the symmetric and asymmetric Bayes estimators are obtained in closed forms. also, based on this new censoring scheme, approximate confidence intervals for the parameters of CRD are developed. A practi.al example using real data set was used for illustration. Fi.ally, to assess the performance of the proposed estimators, some numeri.al results using Monte Carlo simulation study were reported.

We introduce a new two-parameter model related to the inverted Topp–Leone distribution called the power inverted Topp–Leone(PiTL)*** properties of the PiTL distribution are stated;including;quantile measures,moments,moment generating function,probability weighted moments,Bonferroni and Lorenz curve,stochastic ordering,incomplete moments,residual life function,and entropy *** sampling plans are developed for the PiTL distribution,when the life test is truncated at a pre-specified *** truncation time is assumed to be the median lifetime of the PiTL distribution with pre-specified *** minimum sample size necessary to ensure the specified life test is obtained under a given consumer’s *** results for given consumer’s risk,parameters of the PiTL distribution and the truncation time are *** estimation of the model parameters is argued using maximum likelihood,least squares,weighted least squares,maximum product of spacing and Bayesian methods.A simulation study is confirmed to evaluate and compare the behavior of different *** real data applications are afforded in order to examine the flexibility of the proposed model compared with some others *** results show that the power inverted Topp–Leone distribution is the best according to the model selection criteria than other competitive models.

AiMTo determine the seroprevalence of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) among pregnant women attending antenatal clinic in Honiara, Solomon islands. METHODSThis descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in seven area health centers in Honiara. From March to June 2015, identification of eligible pregnant women in each site was conducted using systematic random sampling technique. A total of 243 pregnant women who gave written informed consent were enrolled. Standardized tool was used to record demographics, obstetric history and serology results. HBsAg and hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) were tested using point-of-care rapid diagnostic test. all HBsAg positive samples were verified using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTSThe mean age of participants was 26 ± 6 years. The overall hepatitis HBsAg prevalence was 13.8% with higher rate (22%) reported in women between 30-34 years of age. Majority of HBsAg positive participants were Melanesians (29 out for 33). None of the pregnant women in the 15-19 years and ≥ 40 years tested positive for HBsAg. There was no statisti.ally significant difference in HBsAg prevalence by age, ethnicity, education and residential location. The overall HBeAg seroprevalence was 36.7%. Women between 20-24 years of age had the highest rate of 54.5%. Low level of knowledge about hepatitis B vaccination was reputed. Overall, 54.6% of participants were not aware of their hepatitis B vaccination status and only 65.2% of mothers reported their child had been vaccinated. CONCLUSiONHepatitis B is a disease of public health importance in Solomon islands and emphasize the need for integrated preventative interventions for its control.
