This study presents the development of an ultrasonic transducer with a radius horn for an ultrasonic milling spindle(UMS)*** ultrasonic transducer was intended to have a working frequency of approximately 30 *** different materials were considered in the study:stainless steel(SS 316L)and titanium alloy(Ti-6Al-4V).Titanium alloy gave a higher resonance frequency(33 kHz)than stainless steel(30 kHz)under the same preload compression *** electromechanical impedance simulation was carried out to predict the impedance resonance frequency for both materials,and the effect of the overhanging toolbar was *** to the electromechanical impedance simulation,the overhanging toolbar length affected the resonance frequency,and the error was less than 3%.Harmonic analysis confirmed that the damping ratio helps determine the resonance ***,damping ratios of 0.015-0.020 and 0.005-0.020 were selected for stainless steel and titanium alloy,respectively,with an error of less than 1.5%.Experimental machining was also performed to assess the feasibility of ultrasonic-assisted milling;the result was a lesser cutting force and better surface topography of Al 6061.

Over the years,zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs)have attracted attention as a promising next-generation energy storage technology because of their excellent safety,long cycling performance,eco-friendliness,and high-power ***,issues,such as the corrosion and dissolution of the Zn anode,limited wet-tability,and lack of sufficient nucleation sites for Zn plating,have limited their practical *** introduction of a protective layer comprising of tellurium(Te)nanobelts onto the surface of Zn anode has emerged as a promising approach to overcome these limitations and improve the electrochemical behav-ior by enhancing the safety and wettability of ZIBs,as well as providing numerous nucleation sites for Zn *** the presence of a Te-based protective layer,the energy power density of the surface-engineered Zn anode improved significantly(ranging from 310 to 144 W h kg^(-1),over a power density range of 270 to 1,800 W kg^(-1)),and the lifespan capability was *** results demonstrate that the proposed strategy of employing Te nanobelts as a protective layer holds great promise for enhancing the energy storage performance of zIBs,making them even more attractive as a viable energy storage solution forthefuture.

Background In real practice, two or more antihypertensive drugs are needed to achieve target blood pressure. We investigated the comparative beneficial actions of combination therapy of renin-angiotensin system inhibitors (RASI), with calcium channel blockers (CCB) over CCB monotherapy on the development of new-onset diabetes mellitus (NODM) in Korean patients during four-year follow-up periods. Methods A total of 3208 consecutive hypertensive patients without a history of diabetes mellitus who had been prescribed CCB were retrospectively enrolled from January 2004 to December 2012. These patients were divided into the two groups according to the additional use of RASI (the RASI group, n = 1221 and the no RASI group, n = 1987). Primary endpoint was NODM, defined as a fasting blood glucose ≥ 126 mg/dL or hemoglobin A1c ≥ 6.5%. Secondary endpoint was major adverse cardiac events (MACE) defined as total death, myocardial infarction (MI) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Results After propensity score-matched (PSM) analysis, two propensity- matched groups (939 pairs, n = 1878, C-statistic = 0.743) were generated. The incidences of NODM (HR = 1.009, 95% CI: 0.700–1.452, P = 0.962), MACE (HR = 0.877, 95% CI: 0.544–1.413, P = 0.589), total death, MI, PCI were similar between the two groups after PSM during four years. Conclusions The use of RASI in addition to CCB showed comparable incidences of NODM and MACE compared to CCB monotherapy in non-diabetic hypertensive Korean patients during four-year follow-up period. However, large-scaled randomized controlled clinical trials will be required for a more definitive conclusion.

Background There are limited data comparing long-term clinical outcomes between first-generation (1G) and second-generation (2G) drug-eluting stents (DESs) in patients who underwent successful percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for coronary chronic total occlusion (CTO) lesion. Methods A total of 840 consecutive patients who underwent PCI with DESs for CTO lesion from January 2004 to November 2015 were enrolled. Finally, a total of 324 eligible CTO patients received 1G-DES (Paclitaxel-eluting stent or Sirolimus-eluting stent, n = 157) or 2G-DES (Zotarolimus-eluting stent or Everolimus-eluting stent, n = 167) were enrolled. The clinical endpoint was the occurrence of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) defined as all-cause death, recurrent myocardial infarction (re-MI), total repeat revascularization [target lesion revascularization (TLR), target vessel revascularization (TVR), and non-TVR]. We investigated the 5-year major clinical outcomes between 1G-DES and 2G-DES in patient who underwent successful CTO PCI. Results After propensity score matched (PSM) analysis, two well-balanced groups (111 pairs, n = 222, C-statistic = 0.718) were generated. Up to the 5-year follow-up period, the cumulative incidence of all-cause death, re-MI, TLR, TVR and non-TVR were not significantly different between the two groups. Finally, MACE was also similar between the two groups (HR = 1.557, 95% CI: 0.820–2.959, P = 0.176) after PSM. Conclusions In this study, 2G-DES was not associated with reduced long-term MACE compared with 1G-DES following successful CTO revascularization up to five years.

Background There were limited data comparing the major clinical outcomes between first-generation(lG)-drug eluting stents(DES)and second-generation(2 G)-DES in patients with acute myocardial infarction(AMI) after percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) during very long follow-up periods. We thought to investigate the comparative efficacy and safety of 2 G-DES compared with 1 G-DES in AMI patients during 5-year follow-up periods. Method A total of 1016 eligible AMI patients who underwent PCI with 1 G-DES [paclitaxel-,sirolimus-, lG-zotarolimus-eluting stent(endeavor?or endeavor sprint?), n = 554] or 2 G-DES [2 G-zotarolimus(endeavor resolute?)-or everolimus-eluting stent, n = 462] were enrolled. The primary endpoint was the occurrence of major adverse cardiac events(MACE) defined as total death, non-fatal mycx^ardial infarction(MI), target lesion revascularization(TLR), target vessel revascularization(TVR), non-target vessel revascularization(Non-TVR) and the secondary endpoint was stent thrombosis(ST) at 5 years. Results Two propensity score-ma?tched(PSM) groups(232 pairs, n = 464, C-statistic = 0.802) were generated. During the 5-year follow-up period, the cumulative incidence of TLR [hazard ratio(HR): 3.133; 95% confidence interval(Cl): 1.539-6.376; P = 0.002], TVR(HR: 3.144; 95% Cl: 1.596-6.192; P = 0.001)and total revascularization rate(HR: 1.874; 95% Cl: 1.086-3.140; P = 0.023) were significantly higher in 1 G-DES compared with 2 G-DES after PSM. However, the incidence of total death, non-fatal MI and ST were similar between the two groups. Conclusion In this sin?gle-center and all-comers registry, 2 G-DES,s superiorities for TLR, TVR and total revascularization in AMI patients suggested during 5-year clinical follow-up periods.

Organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs)have demonstrated remarkable advancements in both device lifetime and luminous ***,insufficient operation lifetime due to device degradation remains a major hurdle,especially for brighter *** the degradation mechanisms of OLEDs due to the degradation of functional materials and the formation of defects in device architectures continues to be a significant ***,we evaluate the degradation characteristics by scrutinizing the electrical and optical properties,as well as analyzing the charge carrier dynamics in pristine and aged states of phosphorescent OLEDs(PhOLEDs).We show that degradation mechanisms in PhOLEDs can be elucidated in terms of the ideality factors of current and luminance in pristine and aged device *** consistent shifts in distinct ideality factors across various states points out that the device degradation is attributed to the deterioration of the guest material,***-light-emitting phosphorescent ***,the incongruity in ideality factor changes between the two states indicates that the degradation results from the deterioration of non-light-emitting *** characterization experiments provide further evidence that this degradation is primarily attributed to the deterioration of CBP-host *** thorough understanding of degradation mechanisms established in this study can contribute to realizing the highly reliable PhOLEDs with a long lifetime.

Host material plays an important role in obtaining efficient photon upconversion and downshifting ***, fluoride and oxyfluoride glasses-based materials are used for high-efficiency photon ***, the poor thermal stability of fluoride glasses and the toxicity of fluorine ions limit their applications. In this report, Yb/Ho-doped CaSiO3wollastonite phosphors have been demonstrated as efficient red-emitting upconversion phosphors. The phosphors have been synthesized by microwave hydrothermal process followed by heat treatment at 1050°C in the air environment. 2M phase of the β-wollastonite has been confirmed by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy while the existence of the Yb and Ho dopants in the CaSiO3lattice has been confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The synthesized samples showed strong red upconversion emission centered at 662 nm and near-infrared downshifting emissions at 2016 nm upon 980 nm excitation. The emissions were found to depend significantly on the Ho concentration. Temporal evolution of the main emission bands was investigated to show that the energy transfer upconversion from Yb to Ho ions was responsible for the efficient upconversion and downshifting phenomenon.

In this study,based on inspiration drawn from origami and the suction mechanism of leeches,a dry electrode is developed for reliable blood pressure(BP)*** leech-inspired suction mechanism generated a local soft vacuum facilitating appropriate contact with the human ***,an electrocardiogram(ECG)sensor,termed a leech-inspired origami(LIO)sensor,was constructed using the developed dry *** LIO with a sensing robot system ensures reliable ECG signals with a signal-to-noise ratio of 21.7±0.56 *** the paired detection of ECG and photoplethysmography(PPG)through human-robot interaction,BP monitoring was *** average difference of the systolic BP between that estimated by the sensing robot and that monitored by the sphygmomanometer was 0.03 mmHg,indicating the reliable BP monitoring ability of the sensing *** LIO sensing system inspired by origami and leech behaviors makes BP sensing tools feasible,which in turn would further the development of a remote healthcare monitoring robotic system.

Detection of cracks is a great concern in production and operation processes of graphene based devices to ensure uniform ***,we show a detection method for graphene cracks by electromagnetic *** time varying magnetic field leads to induced voltage signals on graphene,and the signals are detected by a *** measured level of induced voltage is correlated with the number of cracks in graphene *** correlation is attributed to the increasing inductive characteristic of defective graphene,and it is verified by electromagnetic simulation and radio frequency ***,we demonstrate that the induced voltage signal is insensitive to the doping level of *** work can potentially lead to the development of a high-throughput and reliable crack inspection technique for mass production of graphene applications.
