The electrochemical properties of a friction stir processed(FSPed)equiatomic CrMnFeCoNi high-entropy alloy(HEA)was investigated in an aerated 0.5 M Na_(2)SO_(4) electrolyte solution at room *** microstructural analysis reveals a highly refined stir zone(SZ)with an average grain size that decreases from the top region of the SZ to the bottom region of the SZ(also known as shear-processed zone;SPZ).However,the region below the SPZ,(*** the plunge depth)experienced an increase in average grain size and dislocation densities compared to the other *** is no secondary phase observed in the FSPed region,however,the microstructural evolution in the FSPed region affects the electrochemical behavior of the ***_(2)O_(3) passive layer was observed to form on the FSPed HEA,leading to excellent corrosion properties from the polarization corrosion *** refinement in the SZ enhances the rapid formation of the passive layer,thus,leading to better corrosion properties in the front surface of the FSPed *** localized corrosion behavior of the FSPed HEA was predicted to be caused by the micro-galvanic nature of the HEA,which leads to an increase in polarization at the anodic sites(pits).A numerical model was established using the corrosion parameters from the experiment to simulate the localized corrosion behavior on the surface of the FSPed HEA in a neutral *** predicted initial pitting potential and corresponding current density agree well with the experimental *** model is also capable of tracking the dissolution of the pits over longer periods.

A Study on Comparison of Building Energy Simulation and Measurement Results for a City Hall

In recent years, the number of public office buildings which were built by the glass curtain wall increased rapidly, but through the results of the investigation of the government, these buildings have been found that the heating and cooling load is high, and showed low energy efficiency. So in this study, through energy simulation, the energy consumption of public office building was verified and measured;environment data and calculated data were compared to make more precise simulation. The heating and cooling load was calculated via EnergyPlus;building was modeled by Google SketchUp connected to EnergyPlus. The results of this study were as follows: in simulation, incident solar radiation from large curtain wall should be underestimated. And using site-measured outdoor environment data can increase accuracy of simulation result.

As one of conducting polymers,PEDOT:PSS,is commonly used in organic electronics,especially for bioelectronics due to its advantages such as high electrical and ionic conductivity,solution-processability and *** bioelectronics with the PEDOT:PSS requires advanced techniques to obtain physical/chemical modification of the PEDOT:PSS for improved performance and various *** satisfy these demands,fibrillary gelation of PEDOT:PSS by injection to choline acetate,an ionic liquid,with a constant flow rate was used in this study to make a conductive fiber and improve characteristics of PEDOT:*** fibers by fibrillary gelation showed enhanced electrical conductivity of about 400 S cm^(-1) and volumetric capacitance of about 154 F cm^(−3) which would be strongly beneficial to be utilized for organic electrochemical transistors(OECTs),resulting in a high transconductance of 19 mS in a ***,dedoping of the conductive fibers by PEI(polyethyleneimine)enabled the creation of enhancement-mode *** inverters were then fabricated by connecting depletion and enhancement-mode *** results demonstrate that these conductive fibers and electronic-textiles are suitable candidates for applications in bio-integrated electronics.

This study investigates the interannual variation of summer surface air temperature over Northeast Asia（NEA） and its associated circulation *** leading modes for the temperature variability over NEA are obtained by EOF *** first EOF mode is characterized by a homogeneous temperature anomaly over NEA and therefore is called the NEA *** anomaly extends from southeast of Lake Baikal to Japan,with a central area in Northeast *** second EOF mode is characterized by a seesaw pattern,showing a contrasting distribution between East Asia（specifically including the Changbai Mountains in Northeast China,korea,and Japan） and north of this *** mode is named the East Asia（EA） *** modes contribute equivalently to the temperature variability in *** two leading modes are associated with different circulation anomalies.A warm NEA mode is associated with a positive geopotential height anomaly over NEA and thus a weakened upper-tropospheric westerly *** the other hand,a warm EA mode is related to a positive height anomaly over EA and a northward displaced *** addition,the NEA mode tends to be related to the Eurasian teleconnection pattern,while the EA mode is associated with the East Asia-Pacific/PacificJapan pattern.

A case study of environmental characteristics on urban road-surface and air temperatures during heat-wave days in Seoul

High road-surface temperature due to heat waves can lead to dangerous driving conditions such as tire blowouts and deformation induced by thermal stress on the roads. In this study, a Mobile Observation Vehicle dataset, with high spatial and temporal resolutions for the heat-wave episode that occurred on 16–17 August 2018, is used to understand environmental characteristics on urban road-surface and air temperatures in Seoul. This study demonstrates that the magnitude of urban road-surface temperature is dependent on the differences in incoming solar radiation due to screening of high-rise buildings in the Gangnam area, and is associated with the topographical features in the Gangbuk area. The road-surface temperature in the section of darker-colored asphalts was higher than that of lighter-colored asphalts, with a mean difference of 6.8°C, and both surface and air temperatures on the iron plate were highest, with means of 51.7°C and 35.1°C,respectively. In addition, during the water-sprinkling period, road-surface temperature was cooled by about 8.7°C(19%) compared with that in the period without water-sprinkling, but there was no significant change in air temperature. The current results could be practically used to improve roadsurface temperature prediction models for civil engineers or road managers.

Two-Phase Fatigue Life Prediction of Small-Scale Welded Specimens Based on the Experimental Results

The study aims to calibrate parameters of two-phase fatigue prediction model based on the results of the small-scale fatiguetest experiments for zero stress ratio and without residual stresses, and then to investigate their applicability for differentstress ratios and in the presence of residual stresses. Total fatigue life using the two-phase model consists of crack initiationphase, calculated by strain-life approach, and crack propagation phase, calculated by fracture mechanic’s approach. Calibrationof the fatigue parameters is performed for each phase by fitting numerical to the experimental results. Comparative analysisof calculated and measured fatigue lives is then conducted for different stress ratios, in both stress-relieved and as-weldedconditions. Given that calculation parameters are calibrated for the basic case, uncertainty of predictions is large, showingthat application of the method for real-life complex marine structures is challenging.

Efficacy and cost analysis of transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy under monitored anesthesia

Sedation may result in reduction in pain during transrectal ultrasound （TRUS）-guided prostate biopsies. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a combination of propofol and remifentanil infusion during TRUS-guided prostate biopsy and the related increases in health care costs. From January to September 2010, 100 men undergoing a transrectal prostate biopsy were randomized into two groups. In Group 1, 50 patients received a combined infusion of propofol and remifentanil; in Group 2, 50 patients received lidocaine jelly. After TRUS-guided biopsies were performed, pain and patient satisfaction were evaluated by a lO-point visual analog scale （VAS）, and a cost-related patient satisfaction questionnaire was completed by all patients. Patients were also asked whether they would be willing to undergo repeat biopsy by the same method. Patients in Group I showed a significantly lower VAS score than those in Group 2 （mean VAS score： 0.9± 1.1 versus 6.3±2.5; P〈0.001）. In addition, the patient satisfaction scale was significantly higher in Group 1 （P=0.002）. Although the overall cost was significantly higher in Group 1 （P=0.006）, patient satisfaction scales considering cost were also higher in this group （P=0.009）. A combination of propofol and remifentanil is a safe and effective way to decrease patient pain and increase patient satisfaction during TRUS-guided prostate biopsy. Although the costs were higher in the group that received sedation, as expected, the patients exhibited heightened satisfaction and willingness to repeat biopsies by the same method.

Ionizing radiation is one of the most effective tools in cancer therapy. In a previous study, we reported that protein tyrosine kinase (PTK) inhibitors modulate the radiation responses in the human chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) cell line K562. The receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor, genistein, delayed radiation-induced cell death, while non-recepter tyrosine kinase inhibitor, herbimycin A (HMA) enhances radiation-induced apoptosis. In this study, we focused on the modulation of radiation-induced cell death by genistein and performed PCR-select suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) to understand its molecular mechanism. We identified human thymidine kinase 1 (TK1), which is cell cycle regulatory gene and confirmed expression of TK1 mRNA by Northern blot analysis. Expression of TKl mRNA and TK1 enzymatic activity were parallel in their increase and decrease. TK1 is involved in G1-S phase transition of cell cycle progression. Noble strain of Sparassis latifolia produces high content of β-glucan

Objective: To classify four new Sparassis strains(CLM1, CKM1, CKM2, and KJM1) using the internal transcribed spacer sequence and to elucidate their β-glucan content and mycelial ***: Two different microbiological media were used to determine growth rate. The β-glucan contents were analyzed using the Megazyme Mushroom and Yeast Beta-Glucan kit. To determine the genetic relationships, phylogenetic trees were constructed using ClustalX. Multiple sequence alignments were printed and shaded with the BOXSHADE 3.21 program. Results: In this study, four new Sparassis strains were isolated from the southern region of the korea Peninsula. They were all classified into the Sparassis latifolia clade as a monophyletic group based on the internal transcribed spacer sequence. Mycelial growth rate of the CLM1 strain was highest in potato dextrose agar and potato dextrose agar larch. The β-glucan content of the CLM1 strain was highest at 29.5%(w/w). A high degree of sequence divergence was detected in the RNA polymerase second largest subunit II gene(RPB2) within Sparassis spp. tested. The putative amino acid sequences of the RPB2 had a distinct sequence. The nucleotide sequences of the RPB2's intron were also divergent among Sparassis spp., even though their nucleotide length was well conserved within Sparassis latifolia. Conclusions: These results indicate that the nucleotide sequences and the amino acid sequences of RPB2 can be used to identify individual Sparassis sp. The Sparassis strain CLM1 may be best for developing a remedy to prevent or treat cancer and other chronic diseases.
