A sensitive flow-injection chemiluminescence method was developed for the determination of biotin in the pharmaceutical *** affinity between avidin and biotin was used to adsorb biotin on the polystyrene,with subsequent quantification of biotin based on its ability to enhance the chemiluminescence（CL） signal generated by the redox reaction of potassium permanganate-luminol-CdTe nanoparticles CL *** investigations prove that apart from 3-aminophthalate,the CdTe quantum dots（QDs） play both catalytic and emitter *** optimum conditions,the linear range for the determination of biotin was 0.01―25 ng/mL with a detection limit of 7.3×10-3 ng/mL（s/N=3）.The relative standard deviation of 5 ng/L biotin was 2.06%（n=7）.The proposed method was used to determine the biotin concentration in the pharmaceutical formulations and the recovery was between 96.4% and 104%.The proposed method is simple,convenient,rapid and sensitive.

The authors report a case of systemic lupus associated with a composite heterozygosis sC with thalassemic component in a 19-year-old patient hospitalized for anemia and polyarthralgia who has a staturoponderal delay, macular erythematous lesions in butterfly wings on the face and ears, photosensitivity, puffy face, alopecia, pubic and axillary hair loss, scalp dermatophytosis, painful swelling of the interphalangeal joints, wrists and knees. The hemoglobin electrophoresis showed a compound heterozygote sC associated with β thalassemia. Antinuclear antibodies were positive with an anti-sm positive antibody. Conclusion: The diagnosis of both diseases can be difficult when symptoms are concomitant and look alike.

The chemical and mineralogical composition of bauxite deposits is a key factor in the profitability of refining processes. The study of bauxites from the saföfö site has assessed variations in chemical and mineralogical composition under various conditions, as well as the optimum conditions for their exploitation. The methodologies used in this study include experimental methods for determining moisture content, chemical composition, mineralogical composition, and specific density of bauxite. The results show significant variation in moisture content among the bauxite samples, with values ranging from 2.90% to 17.80%. The silica percentages in the samples range from 1.69% to 8.14%, while alumina percentages vary from 36.81% to 54.03%. After calcination, alumina oxide percentages range from 40% to 75%. After chemical activation, alumina oxides Al2O3 range from 40% to over 50%. Gibbsite is the most abundant mineral, accounting for about 60% - 70% of the total composition of the bauxite samples. samples A to F have bulk densities varying between approximately 3.6 and 3.9. sample B has the highest density, around 3.9, while sample C has the lowest, at around 3.5. Bauxite mining at the saföfö site offers significant potential for the alumina industry, provided appropriate processing methods are selected to maximize quality and profitability while minimizing environmental impact.

Introduction: Anemia is one of the most common public health problems in the world and affects all ages. Objective: To describe the etiological and evolutionary profile of anemia in patients hospitalized in the Internal Medicine Unit of the Fousseyni Daou Hospital in Kayes. Methodology: It was a descriptive and cross-sectional study with retrospective data collection which took place from January 1 to December 31, 2020 at the Internal Medicine Unit of the Fousseyni Daou Hospital in Kayes. It covered all anemic patients hospitalized during the study period. Results: We identified 91 cases of anemia out of 200 patients admitted to the Unit that is a hospital prevalence of 45.5%. The age group of 26 to 35 years was the most represented, that is to say 29 cases (31.87%) with an average age of 43.55 years ± 17.48 years, the female sex predominated, 51 cases (56.04%) with a sex ratio of 0.78. Housewives represented 41 cases (45.05%). The majority of patients resided in rural areas 48 cases (52.75%). The main manifestations were: asthenia 75 cases (78.02%), vertigo 68 cases (74.72%), dyspnea 62 cases (68.13%), headaches 59 cases (64.83%), palpitations 55 cases (60.44%), conjunctival pallor 53 cases (58.24%), tachycardia 43 cases (47.25%), systolic murmur 18 cases (19.78%) and IMO 11 cases (12.09%). The associated pathologies were: infected diabetic wounds 25.27%, followed by bacterial pleuro-pneumopathy 18.68%. Biologically, microcytic anemia was the most frequent 49 cases (53.84%), followed by normocytic anemia 35 cases (38.46%) and macrocytic anemia 7 cases (7.7%). Anemia was hypochromic, 53 cases (58.24%) were more encountered compared to normochromic anemia 38 cases (41.76%). The anemia was: severe in 43 cases (47.25%), moderate 29 cases (31.87%) and mild 19 cases (20.88%). Inflammatory anemia is the most common etiological diagnosis in 60% of cases, followed by vitamin B12 deficiency anemia observed in 21% of patients and then blood diseases in 7.33% of cases. The mai

Introduction: Urinary tract infection is one of the most frequent public health problems in the world and concerns all ages. Objective: To describe the epidemiological, clinical and biological profile of urinary tract infection in the internal medicine unit of the Fousseyni Daou hospital in Kayes. Methodology: It was a descriptive and cross-sectional study with retrospective data collection which took place from January 1 to December 31, 2020 at the Internal Medicine Unit of the Fousseyni Daou Hospital in Kayes. It covered all outpatients and hospitalized patients presenting with a urinary tract infection during the study period. Results: We identified 79 cases of urinary tract infection out of 145 requests for ECBU, that is a positivity rate of 53.10% and out of a total of 1883 admissions that is a hospital prevalence of 4.19%. The age groups of 36 to 45 years and 46 to 55 years were more represented in 28 cases (35.44%) and 25 cases (31.64%) with an average age of 45 years ± 10. The female sex was predominant, 42 cases (53.16%) with a sex ratio of 0.88. Housewives were more represented 28 cases (34.44%). The majority of patients resided in rural areas 49 cases (62.03%). The history was dominated by the following pathologies: hypertension 48.10%, diabetes 36.70% and gastropathy 30.37%. The main clinical manifestations were: Urinary burning 67 cases (84.81%), Dysuria 65 cases (82.27%), Pelvic pain 59 cases (74.68%), Fever 57 cases (72.15%). The epidemiological profile of the isolated strains was dominated by enterobacteriaceae, followed by gram-positive cocci and gram-negative bacilli. The main bacteria responsible for urinary tract infections in order of frequency: Escherichia coli (45.56%), Klebsiella pneumoniae (11.39%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (8.86%), staphylococcus aureus (7.59%), streptococcus sp (6.33%), Enterobacter cloacae (3.79%), Acinetobacter sp (3.79%). Introduction: Pesticides are currently an essential component of agricultural production techniques for controlling pests and weeds. In Burkina Faso, non-compliance with good practice in the use of pesticides poses a real health problem for the population. This study examines the health risks associated with pesticide management in rice-growing areas. Material and Methods: A field survey was conducted in Bama, involving farmers, focusing on their socio-demographic characteristics, pesticide usage, and health effects. Cholinesterase levels were measured in subsample of farmers using a portable device. Data were analysed using Microsoft Excel, calculating means and percentages for various practices. Health consultations, protection methods, and pesticide management were studied. Erythrocyte acetylcholinesterase activity was compared before and after treatment. Data were categorised into classes based on inhibition levels, and correlation analyses determined relationships between variables such as age, years of experience, and cholinesterase activity. Results: The results indicate that rice cultivation is mainly carried out by a fairly young population, with nearly 63% being under the age of 50. Common poor practices in pesticide use include improper storage and reuse of leftover pesticides. seven types of pesticides were identified, including organophosphates such as glyphosate, which was used in 26.7% of cases. This organophosphate has resulted in class B poisoning, causing a 30% - 50% reduction in erythrocyte cholinesterase activity. The health effects of pesticide use are felt by agricultural farmers through various symptoms of poisoning. Conclusion: To reduce the occurrence of pesticide poisoning, it is essential to launch information and awareness campaigns among the population and farmers to promote safe practices in pesticide use in Bama, Burkina Faso.

Acute appendicitis is the most common abdominal surgical emergency. This work is a prospective study from January 2012 to December to analyze the epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic aspects of acute appendicitis in the Cs ref of commune I of the district of Bamako and the results obtained were then compared with those reported in other countries. Our study included 72 patients. The appendectomy surgical specimens were the subject of an anatomical pathology study at Point G University Hospital in Bamako in Mali, 1.4% of cases of which were healthy. All our operated patients received antibiotics (mono or dual antibiotics) with a post-operative hospitalization duration of 1.5 (36 hours) days on average. We recorded 6 complications such as parietal suppuration, i.e. 8.33% of cases. No 5th day syndrome or late complications were noted. The average length of hospitalization was 36 hours. Abdominal ultrasound;used as an additional examination was carried out in 55 of our patients or 76.39% of cases. We have not recorded any deaths. Raising awareness among patients about the dangers of complications motivated patients to undergo surgery as soon as possible.

Ultrasound Causes of Female Infertility at the Fertilia Medical Clinic in Bamako

Aims: Infertility is a major problem in our current societies and the Fertilia medical clinic in Bamako is a center for medical assistance in procreation (MAP) where there is an increasingly growing demand for ultrasound. The objective of our study was to investigate the ultrasound causes likely to prevent the occurrence of pregnancy in a group of infertile and subfertile women. subjects and Methods: This was a 5-year cross-sectional and prospective study, between January 2017 and January 2022, which involved 250 women wishing to become pregnant (infertile or subfertile), who came for pelvic ultrasound or follicular monitoring and who agreed to participate in our study. The parameters used were ultrasound reports including uterine, ovarian and tubal pathologies. It should be noted that in some cases no ultrasound cause of infertility was found. Data were entered and analyzed in sPss. Results: 250 women were recruited into our. The average age was 32 years with extremes ranging from 17 to 51 years. 179 patients or 71.6% were between 17 and 35 years old. 139 patients or 55.6% had secondary infertility against 44.4% primary infertility. 202 patients or 80.8% had at least one ultrasound lesion and 48 patients or 19.2% had no significant ultrasound abnormality. The most represented ultrasound lesions were of uterine origin with 72.20%, 23.7% ovarian lesions and 04% tubal lesions. Uterine lesions were dominated by myomas, adenomyosis, endometrial polyps, uterine malformations and synechiae. As for ovarian lesions we noted cysts, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOs), ovarian endometriosis, non-follicular ovaries and tubal ultrasound lesions showed unilateral or bilateral hydrosalpinx. Conclusion: In our study, ultrasound was an invaluable contribution to the diagnosis of the causes likely to explain subfertility and infertility in our respondents. she highlighted uterine, ovarian and tubal lesions, some of which could be corrected and pregnancies ensued.

The aim was to assess transfusion needs in the management of immediate postpartum haemorrhage. Materials and Methods: this was a prospective, descriptive, analytical study from 01 January 2018 to 31 October 2018 in the gynecology and obstetrics department of the reference health center of Kalaban-Coro (Mali). Results: During the study period we recorded 32 cases of transfusion of the immediate postpartum out of 109 cases of hemorrhage or 29.35%;for a total of 2425 deliveries or a frequency of 1.31%. The main indications for blood transfusion were: postpartum haemorrhage due to tearing of the soft parts in 21.9%;retroplacental hematoma in 18.6%;uterine rupture in 12.5%;and placenta previa covering hemorrhagic in 12.5%. More than half of the transfused were evacuees, or 62.5%. Unmet transfusion requirements were 59.4%. The blood products requested were: whole blood in 99% of cases and fresh frozen plasma in only 1% of cases. Conclusion: the need for labile blood products remains a reality in obstetrics. The permanent availability of labile blood products improves the prognosis of immediate postpartum haemorrhages.
