Electrocatalytic water splitting driven by renewable energy input to produce clean hydrogen(H_(2))has been widely considered a prospective approach for a future hydrogen-based society.However,the development of industrial alkaline water electrolyzers is hindered due to their unfavorable thermodynamics with high overpotential for delivering the whole process,caused by sluggish kinetics involving four-electron transfer.Further exploration of water electrolysis with low energy consumption and high efficiency is urgently required to meet the ever-growing energy storage and portfolio demands.This review emphasizes the strategies proposed thus far to pursue high-efficiency water electrolysis systems,including from the aspects of electro-catalysts(from monofunctional to bifunctional),electrode engineering(from powdery to self-supported),energy sources(from nonrenewable to renewable),electrolytes(from pure to hybrid),and cell configurations(from integrated to decoupled).Critical appraisals of the pivotal electrochemistry are highlighted to address the challenges in elevating the overall efficiency of water splitting.Finally,valuable insights for the future development directions and bottlenecks of advanced,sustainable,and high-efficiency water splitting systems are outlined.

Geriatric Anesthesia-related Morbidity and Mortality in China： Current Status and Trend

Objective： The population of elderly patients and the amount of geriatric anesthesia have been growing rapidly in China. Thus, understanding the morbidity and mortality associated with geriatric anesthesia in China is critical to the improvement of anesthesia quality and outcome. The aim of the review was to discuss the geriatric anesthesia-related morbidity and mortality in China, as well as to point out the future trend. Data Sources： Articles in this review were all searched from Wanfang, China National Knowledge Infrastructure （CNKI）, VIP, PubMed, and Web of Science databases, based on the reports originated in China from January 2011 to December 2016. Study Selection： A total of 57 studies were selected for further study, including 12 retrospective studies, 35 prospective studies, 3 meta-analyses, 4 reviews, 1 viewpoint, and 2 case reports. Of the total studies, 42 studies were in Chinese while 15 were in English. Results： The mortality and morbidity associated with geriatric anesthesia in China are not yet completely reported. Some factors have been recognized, while some are yet to be identified and confirmed. Several studies addressed postoperative cognitive dysfunction and postoperative delirium, whereas only a few studies can be found on renal complications. Thus, a nationwide registry is essential for geriatric anesthesia-associated adverse outcomes. The mortality associated with geriatric anesthesia in China should be reported promptly. In the future, the perspective of geriatric anesthesia needs to be expanded into perioperative geriatric medicine to improve the perioperative management strategy based on the postoperative outcome-directed concept transformation. Conclusions： Anesthesiologists should evaluate the physiological and medical status and focus on the prevention of potential complications in the perioperative setting with the goal to enhance elderly patients＇ long-term well-being and survival quality.

Microplastics(MPs)have become a significant concern for their potential toxicity.However,the correlation between the size of plastic particles and their toxicity remains inconclusive.Here,we investigate the toxic effects of different sizes(80 nm,800 nm,8μm and 80μm)polystyrene MPs(PS-MPs)on the model organism Nile tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus).The results of bioluminescent imaging indicate that the 80 nm PS-MPs are more likely to invade the body.H&E staining shows severe damage on the intestinal villi and distinct hepatic steatosis in the 80 nm group.Ed U labeling shows that the proliferation activity of intestinal and liver cells reduces significantly in the 80 nm group.The gut microbiome analysis shows a severe imbalance of gut microbiota homeostasis in the 80 nm group.The analysis of liver transcriptomics and metabolomics shows that the liver lipid metabolism is disordered in the 80 nm group.In conclusion,this study confirms that the 80 nm PS-MPs are more likely to induce intestinal and liver toxicity.All the above lay the foundation for further study on the pathological damage of MPs to other organisms.

Multifunctional non-precious catalysts for hydrogen/oxygen evolution reaction(HER/OER) and oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) constitute the bottleneck in the applications in electrochemical overall water splitting(OWS) and Zn-air batteries. Herein, a trifunctional electrocatalyst of urchin-like Al,P-codoped Co3O4 microspheres supported on Ni foam(denoted as AP-CONPs/NF) was fabricated via a hydrothermal process and subsequent low-temperature annealing and phosphorization, exhibiting enhanced OER, HER and ORR activities compared with single-doped and undoped samples. Their surface self-organized microstructure and excellent "superaerophobic" feature make a high bubble repellency, which boost diffusion of reactants and electrolyte-electrode intimate contact. The codoping of Al and P elements into Co3O4 betters right the balance among surface chemical state, the increased oxygen vacancies and the promoted charge transfer. Encouraged by these synergistic advantages, the AP-CONPs/NF was further employed as excellent bifunctional electrodes for the OWS(low cell voltage of 1.57 V at 10 mA cm-2) and as air cathode for rechargeable Zn-air batteries(high power density of 89.1 mW cm-2), which demonstrates a great feasibility for practical applications.

Background:Mallet fracture is avulsion of the terminal extensor tendon from the base of the distal phalangeal bone with a fragment.This study was performed to evaluate the anatomical characteristics of mallet fractures,invest电ate a new mallet fracture classification system using anatomical and imaging methods,and discuss the treatment schemes for different types of mallet fracture.Methods:Sixty-four fresh cadaveric fingers were divided into four groups,and models of different types of mallet fracture with distal interphalangeal joint instability were established by dissecting 25%,50%,75%,and 100% of the bilateral collateral ligaments.The the stability of the distal interphalangeal joint was them observed.The lateral radiographs of mallet fractures in 168 patients were analyzed and classified according to the involvement of the joint surface in the fracture,the thickness of fracture,the untreated time after injury,and the complication of distal interphalangeal joint palmar subluxation.Forty-seven patients were surgically treated by reconstruction of extensor tendon insertion,the Ishiguro method,or single Kirschner wire fixation.Results:The established mallet fracture model showed that the distal interphalangeal joint was stable when the bilateral collateral effect of mallet fractures on was then observed.The lateral radiographs of mallet ligaments were cut off by 25%(t=-0.415,P=0.684)and significantly unstable when this range was≥50%(50% transection:t=-6.363,P50% of the joint surface,respectively).Type Ⅱ was further divided into Tpes Ⅱa and Ⅱb according to whether the course of injury was

Self-aeration in high-speed free surface flows occurs commonly and is of interest to ocean engineering, hydraulic engineering, and environmental engineering. For two-phase air–water flows, macroscopic air–water flow properties develop gradually, accompanied by the change of microscopic air–water structures. In this article, representational experimental studies on macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of self-aerated open-channel flows are summarized and compared. The isolated effect of the flow Reynolds number and air quantity on the differences in air count rate and chord size are analyzed and discussed. The results show that the characterized flow depth y, affected by the turbulence transfer, is a specific criterion to distinguish the interior air–water structure development. Two distinct linear trends of self-aeration are found, depending on the y/yvariation with a breaking point at Cmean =0.50. The air count rate and size scale in self-aerated flows are affected by the air quantity of self-aerated flows, even with identical flow Reynolds numbers. Thus, a specific parameter is proposed to assess the air–water structures and a series of self-similarity relationships in self-aeration properties are obtained. The link between macroscopic and microscopic air–water properties results in significant scale effect on air–water structures in self-aerated flows.

The fascinating chemical structure and broad application prospect of Keggin-type polyoxometalates(POMs)have attracted many chemists to explore and discover continuously.Unlike the traditional Keggin,larger metal atomic radius,higher metal coordinated numbers,lower metal valence states and other features allow the group IVB metal-based Keggin(IVB-Keggin)more space and unknown in terms of structure and performance.Herein,density functional theory(DFT)calculations were performed to explore the influences including cores,shells,caps,and terminal ligands,et al.on IVB-Keggin,and analyze the possibility of novel structure synthesis.From the perspective of multi-layer onion-like clusters,molecular energy level,host-guest interaction energy,surface charge and covalent bond polarity can be further adjusted to achieve the oriented design of functional IVB-Keggin.These insights are expected to provide theoretical support for experimental synthesis,opening a new perspective to understand the growth of Keggin.

Cone-straight nozzle has been widely used in well bore cleaning,assisting drilling in petroleum industries due to its good clustering properties.The structure including cone angle and throat length has also been studied by scholars and been optimized.However,the internal flow properties have not been investigated clearly especially the boundary layer flow.In this paper LES model is used to capture the small-scale flow state near the nozzle wall.The RNG k-epsilon model is used to validate the accuracy of the LES simulation,the simulation data shows a good agreement.Three different inlet velocities are considered in simulations.The velocity distribution,shear stress,boundary layer thickness,skin friction coefficient and Reynolds stress are analyzed,the boundary layer separation and transition are discussed.The state of flow inside nozzle is laminar with inlet velocity of 1 m/s and gradually transferred into turbulent with the increasing inlet velocity.The most severe turbulence is at the entrance of the throat section,the vortex structure appears at the entrance of converging section and dose not survive,the vortex structure appears in sequence along the throat section wall when the inlet velocity is set to 5 m/s and 10 m/s the flow properties along the conical nozzle are revealed clearly,the main flow resistance is mainly produced in throat section.All these works aim to provide theoretical support for the further processing optimization of the nozzle structure and reduce the flow resistance of nozzle.
