SnO_(2),with its high theoretical capacity,abundant resources,and environmental friendliness,is widely regarded as a potential anode material for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).Nevertheless,the coarsening of the Sn nanoparticles impedes the reconversion back to SnO_(2),resulting in low coulombic efficiency and rapid capacity *** this study,we fabricated a heterostructure by combining SnO_(2)nanoparticles with MoS_(2)nanosheets via plasma-assisted *** heterostructure consists of in-situ exfoliated MoS_(2)nanosheets predominantly in 1 T phase,which tightly encase the SnO_(2)nanoparticles through strong *** configuration effectively mitigates the volume change and particle aggregation upon ***,the strong affinity of Mo,which is the lithiation product of MoS_(2),toward Sn plays a pivotal role in inhibiting the coarsening of Sn nanograins,thus enhancing the reversibility of Sn to SnO_(2)upon ***,the SnO_(2)/MoS_(2)heterostructure exhibits superb performance as an anode material for LIBs,demonstrating high capacity,rapid rate capability,and extended ***,discharged/charged at a rate of 0.2 A g^(-1)for 300 cycles,it achieves a remarkable reversible capacity of 1173.4 mAh g^(-1).Even cycled at high rates of 1.0 and 5.0 A g^(-1)for 800 cycles,it still retains high reversible capacities of 1005.3 and 768.8 mAh g^(-1),***,the heterostructure exhibits outstanding electrochemical performance in both full LIBs and sodium-ion batteries.

Accumulating evidence from both animal and human studies suggests that activation of beige fat increases cellular energy expenditure,ultimately reducing ***,we report the central role of adipocyte-derived lysyl oxidase(Lox)in the formation of thermogenic beige *** exposed to cold or aβ3 agonist showed drastically lower Lox expression in thermogenically activated beige ***,inhibition of Lox activity with BAPN stimulated biogenesis of beige fat in inguinal white adipose tissue(iWAT)under housing conditions and potentiated cold-induced adaptive thermogenesis and beiging in both iWAT and epididymal white adipose tissue(eWAT).Notably,white adipocytes with Lox repression undergo transdifferentiation into beige adipocytes which can be suppressed by tumor necrosis factor-α(TNFα)via ERK *** work provides new insight into the molecular control to expand beige fat by Lox inhibition and suggest the potential for utilizing inhibitor of Lox to treat the emerging epidemics of obesity and diabetes.

Tin whisker growth from titanium-tin intermetallic and the mechanism

Spontaneous growth of metal whiskers, represented by tin whiskers, has haunted tin-based platings and solder joints for decades and caused huge losses to the electronics industry. Despite numerous efforts, the underlying growth mechanism has been resisting interpretation, and the whiskering phenomenon even continues to expand its territory. Here, we report the growth of tin whiskers from a *** tin whiskers share similar characteristics with those found on the platings or solder joints, but grow more and faster, with finer diameters. After tin whisker growth, Ti6Sn5retains its crystal structure,implying a dealloying process. Combining experimental and first-principles calculation results, we analyzed the growth mechanism of tin whiskers in detail, and proposed a diffusion-based growth *** strain energy stored in Ti6Sn5during deformation provides a driving force for whisker growth, and the short-circuit diffusion paths generated by such deformation accelerate whisker growth. These findings identify the critical role of intermetallic substrate in the whiskering phenomenon, shedding new light for comprehensively understanding the whisker growth mechanisms. Furthermore, the plenty and rapid growth of tin whiskers also means a new method for the preparation of one-dimensional metallic materials.

In vertebrates, most somatosensory pathways begin with the activation of dorsal root ganglion(DRG) neurons. The development of an appropriate DRG culture method is a prerequisite for establishing in vitro peripheral nerve disease models and for screening therapeutic drugs. In this study, we compared the changes in morphology, molecular biology, and transcriptomics of chicken embryo DRG cultured on tissue culture plates(T-DRG) versus three-dimensional collagen hydrogels(C-DRG). Our results showed that after 7 days of culture, the transcriptomics of T-DRG and C-DRG were quite different. The upregulated genes in C-DRG were mainly related to neurogenesis, axon guidance, and synaptic plasticity, whereas the downregulated genes in C-DRG were mainly related to cell proliferation and cell division. In addition, the genes related to cycles/pathways such as the synaptic vesicle cycle, cyclic adenosine monophosphate signaling pathway, and calcium signaling pathway were activated, while those related to cell-cycle pathways were downregulated. Furthermore, neurogenesis-and myelination-related genes were highly expressed in C-DRG, while epithelial–mesenchymal transition-, apoptosis-, and cell division-related genes were suppressed. Morphological results indicated that the numbers of branches, junctions, and end-point voxels per C-DRG were significantly greater than those per T-DRG. Furthermore, cells were scattered in T-DRG and more concentrated in C-DRG, with a higher ratio of 5-ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine(EdU)-positive cells in T-DRG compared with C-DRG. C-DRG also had higher S100 calcium-binding protein B(S100 B) and lower α-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA) expression than T-DRG, and contained fewer terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling(TUNEL)-positive cells after 48 hours of serum starvation. After cryopreservation, C-DRG maintained more intact morphological characteristics, and had higher viability and less TUNEL-positive cells than T-DRG. Furthermore, newly for

Estimation of Terrestrial Net Primary Productivity in China from Fengyun-3D Satellite Data

Currently,the satellite data used to estimate terrestrial net primary productivity(NPP)in China are predominantly from foreign satellites,and very few studies have based their estimates on data from China’s Fengyun ***,despite their importance,the influence of land cover types and the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)on NPP estimation has not been *** study employs the Carnegie–Ames–Stanford approach(CASA)model to compute the fraction of absorbed photosynthetically active radiation and the maximum light use efficiency suitable for the main vegetation types in China in accordance with the finer resolution observation and monitoring-global land cover(FROM-GLC)classification ***,the NPP is estimated from the Fengyun-3D(FY-3D)data and compared with the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS)NPP *** FY-3D NPP is also validated with existing research results and historical field-measured NPP *** addition,the effects of land cover types and the NDVI on NPP estimation are *** results show that the CASA model and the FY-3D satellite data estimate an average NPP of 441.2 g C m^(−2) yr^(−1) in 2019 for China’s terrestrial vegetation,while the total NPP is 3.19 Pg C yr^(−1).Compared with the MODIS NPP,the FY-3D NPP is overestimated in areas of low vegetation productivity and is underestimated in high-productivity *** discrepancies are largely due to the differences between the FY-3D NDVI and MODIS *** with historical field-measured data,the FY-3D NPP estimation results outperformed the MODIS NPP results,although the deviation between the FY-3D NPP estimate and the in-situ measurement was large and may exceed 20%at the pixel *** land cover types and the NDVI significantly affected the spatial distribution of NPP and accounted for NPP deviations of 17.0%and 18.1%,***,the total deviation resulting from the two factors reached 29.5%.These results show that

In order to manipulate the large-scale coherent structures in the wall-bounded turbulence and reduce the skin-friction,an active-control experimental investigation is performed by using the synchronous and asynchronous vibrations of double piezoelectric vibrators embedded spanwisely on a smooth flat plate surface.A TSI-IFA300 hot-wire anemometer and a TSI-1621 A-Tl.5 hot-wire probe are used to measure the time series of the instantaneous velocity at different *** influences of the vibrations on the wall-bounded turbulence are compared in a multi-scale point of view.A disturbance Reynolds Number Red=pd2 f/μis introduced to represent the disturbance.A probability density functions(PDFs)of the multi-scale components of the turbulence velocity and the multi-scale conditional phase-averaged waveform are studied in detail using the wavelet *** results show that the maximum drag reduction rate 18.54%is obtained at 100 V/160 Hz and Red=0.54 in the asynchronous vibration *** disturbances generated by the vibrators have a significant influence on the sweep events of the *** asynchronous vibration model is more effective than the synchronous vibration one.A possible physical mechanism is suggested to explain why the disturbance frequency of 160 Hz leads to an optimal parameter set for the drag reduction.

API(application programming interface)documentation is critical for developers to learn ***,it is unclear whether API documentation indeed improves the API learnability for *** this paper,we focus on two types of API documentation,i.e.,official API tutorials and API crowd ***,we analyze API coverage and check API consistencies in API documentation based on the API ***,we conduct a survey and extract several characteristics to analyze which API documentation can help developers learn *** findings show that:1)API crowd documentation can be regarded as a supplement to the official API tutorials to some extent;2)the concerns for frequently-used APIs between different types of API documentation show a huge mismatch,which may prevent developers from deeply understanding the usages of APIs through only one type of API documentation;3)official API tutorials can help developers seek API information on a long page and API crowd documentation could provide long codes for a particular programming *** findings may help developers select the suitable API documentation and find the useful information they need.

The exploitation of proper electron transport layers(ETLs)and interface optimization can play a pivotal role to promote the performance of organic solar cells(OSCs).In this work,low temperature processable tin oxide(SnO_(2))colloidal nanoparticles with ethanolamine(EA)treatment are successfully employed for efficient and stable OSCs with light soaking *** EA is chemically bonded with SnO_(2),and the ethanolamine treated tin oxide(E-SnO_(2))layer delivers a suitable work function of 4.10 eV and a unique surface texture with suspended polar *** enhanced performance of E-SnO_(2) based OSCs can be attributed to the improved charge transport and electron extraction,which is correlated with the regulated energy level alignment and contact quality of E-SnO_(2)/active *** a result,considerable power conversion efficiencies(PCEs)of 10.30%,13.93%and 15.38%for PTB7-Th/PC_(71) BM,PM7/ITC6-4 F and PM6/Y6 based OSCs have been realized with E-SnO_(2) as ETL,*** with ZnO based devices,the E-SnO_(2) based OSCs exhibit an improved light aging stability,which can retain 94.3%of their initial PCE of 15.38%after 100 h light aging for E-SnO_(2)/PM6/Y6 based *** work demonstrates that the enormous potential of E-SnO_(2) to serve as ETL for high-efficiency and stable OSCs.
