When infect.ng t.ese lines wit. a. a.icomplexa. pa.a.it., we found t.a.0}t.e a.0}ra.t.ve Low line wa. significa.t.y more suscept.ble t. t.e pa.a.it. infect.on t.a. t.e una.0}ra.t.ve High line. Since t.e ra.0}o difference bet.een t.ese t.o lines is det.rmined by a.delt.-11-dest.ra.e, we hypot.esized t.a.0}t.is desa.0}ra.e ma. ha.e a.dua. role, i.e., in t.e qua.it. of t.e sexua. signa. a. well a. a. involvement.in immune response, compa.a.le t. t.st.st.rone in vert.bra.0}s. However, when we used CRISPR/ca.9 t. knockout.delt.-11-dest.ra.e in t.e a.0}ra.t.ve Low line, we found t.a.0}t.e pheromona. phenot.pe did cha.ge t. t.a.0}of t.e High line, but.t.e infect.on suscept.bilit. did not. Not.bly, when checking t.e genomic loca.0}on of delt.-11-desa.0}ra.e in t.e C. virescens, we found t.a.0}mucin is a.ja.ent.t. delt.-11-desa.0}ra.e. When compa.ing t.e mucin sequences in bot. lines, we found four nonsynonymous SNPs in t.e coding sequence, a. well a. int.onic va.ia.0}on bet.een t.e t.o lines. t.ese differences suggest.t.a.0}genet.c hit.hhiking ma. expla.n t.e va.ia.0}on in suscept.bilit. t. pa.a.it.c infect.on.
