the objective of this paper is to present the performance comparison of 2D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis with experimental analysis of 0.6 m impulse turbine with fixed guide vanes for both 0.6 and 0.7 hub to tip ratio (H/t). Also the comparison of 2D CFD analysis of the said turbine with different values of H/t ranging from 0.5 to 0.7. A 2D-cascade model was used for CFD analysis while uni-directional steady flow was used for experimental analysis. the blade and guide vane geometries are based on 0.6 m rotor diameter, with optimum profile, and different H/t of 0.5, 0.6 and 0.7. It was concluded from 2D CFD analysis that 0.5 H/t ratio performances was higher than that of 0.6 and 0.7 H/t at peak efficiency and the operational flow range for 0.5 H/t was found to be wider than that of 0.6 and 0.7 H/t ratio.

New series of benzothiazole derivatives were designed and synthesized. the newly synthesized compounds were screened for their antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus. Compounds 6j and 6o showed the highest activity against E. coli and S. aureus. the antifungal activity of these compounds was also tested against Candida albicans and Aspergillus fumigatus293. Compounds 4c, 4g and 6j exhibited the highest activity against C. albicans. In addition, compounds4 a and 6j displayed promising activity against A. fumigatus 293. the same compounds were examined for their antiquorum-sensing activity against Chromobacterium violaceum AtCC 12472, whereas compounds4 a, 6j and 6p showed moderate activity. the in vitro cytotoxicity testing of the synthesized compounds was performed against cervical cancer（Hela） and kidney fibroblast cancer（COS-7） cell lines. Results indicated that all tested compounds have IC50 values 〉50 mmol/L against both cell lines. molecular properties, toxicities, drug-likeness, and drug score profiles of compounds 4a–c, 5a, 6g,h, 6j, 6l, 6o and7 c,d were also assessed.

In this study,nanocrystalline celluloses were used to enhance physical,mechanical and water vapor barrier properties of chitosan films for potential food packaging *** different mineral acids(sulfuric and phosphoric)were used to extract nanocrystalline cellulose from date palm sheath *** influence of cellulose I and cellulose II on the properties of the isolated nanocrystalline celluloses(e.g.,yield,energy and length of intra-and intermolecular hydrogen bonds,and degree of substitution)were studied *** characteristics of chitosan biocomposite film with phosphorylated nanocrystalline cellulose were compared to those with sulfated nanocrystalline *** showed that besides cellulose polymorphism,the ionic ester groups on the surface of nanocrystalline cellulose is one of the factors influencing the physical,chemical,mechanical,and water vapor barrier properties in chitosan/nanocrystalline cellulose biocomposites.

Introduction: type 2 diabetes mellitus (t2D) is a chronic disease, primarily caused by a combination of defective insulin secretion and the inability of insulin-sensitive tissues to respond to insulin. Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy associated with duodenal ileal interposition (SGDII) has been shown to be a feasible treatment option for patients with t2D, as it provides improvement and control of glycemia, dyslipidemia and arterial hypertension. the aim of this study was to evaluate the mid and long-term results of SGDII for the treatment of diabetic patients, considering diabetic remission, weight loss and postoperative complications. materials and methods: Retrospective study with 96 patients with t2D submitted to SGDII, between 2010 and 2016. the glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) value Results: Sixty-one patients (62.8%) were male, and 36 patients (37.2%) were female. the average age was 50.9 years. median BmI was 33.43 kg/m2. the incidence of major postoperative complications in the first 30 days was 2.1%, with no mortality. Dyslipidemia control was sustained, after five years, in 62% of the patients. the five years follow-up demonstrated that 80% of patients had t2D remission at one year, 74.5% at three years and 61.8% at five years. Univariate analysis demonstrated that preoperative values of HbA1c and BmI, preoperative use of insulin, gender, and 30-day complication were not predictors of remission at all study intervals. the average duration of the disease was nine years and the mean glycated hemoglobin before surgery was 8.95%. Conclusion: SGDII resulted in good glycemic control at 5-years follow-up and represents a valid alternative for the treatment of t2D.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is one of the most common and aggressive cancers worldwide. HCC is the fifth common malignancy in the world and the second leading cause of cancer death in Asia. Long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs) are RNAs with a length greater than 200 nucleotides that do not encode proteins. lncRNAs can regulate gene expression and protein synthesis in several ways by interacting with DNA, RNA and proteins in a sequence specific manner. they could regulate cellular and developmental processes through either gene inhibition or gene activation. many studies have shown that dysregulation of lncRNAs is related to many human diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, genetic disorders, neurological diseases, immune mediated disorders and cancers. However, the study of lncRNAs is challenging as they are poorly conserved between species, their expression levels aren't as high as that of m RNAs and have great interpatient variations. the study of lncRNAs expression in cancers have been a breakthrough as it unveils potential biomarkers and drug targets for cancer therapy and helps understand the mechanism of pathogenesis. this review discusses many long non-coding RNAs and their contribution in HCC, their role in development, metastasis, and prognosis of HCC and how to regulate and target these lncRNAs as a therapeutic tool in HCC treatment in the future.

Dear editor, Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survival rates vary between 7% and 46% and are lower than those for inhospital cardiac arrests (IHCA).[1,2] therefore, efforts are being made to increase survival rates for out-ofhospital cardiac arrests (OHCA). According to advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) guidelines, out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survival rates may be increased by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with minimal interruptions.[3] According to the latest ACLS, does the patient need an advanced airway.
