Context Lipid-lowering agents are widely prescribed in the United *** estimates of rhabdomyolysis risk with various lipid-lowering agents are not available. Objective To estimate the incidence of rhabdomyolysis in patients treated with different statins and fibrates,alone and in combination,in the ambulatory setting. Design,Setting,and Patients Drug-specific inception cohorts of statin and fibrate users were established using claims data from 11 managed care health plans across the United *** with at least 180 days of prior health plan enrollment were entered into the cohorts between January 1,1998,and June 30,***-time was classified as monotherapy or combined statin-fibrate therapy. Main Outcome Measure Incidence rates of rhabdomyolysis per 10000 person-years of treatment,number needed to treat,and relative risk of rhabdomyolysis. Results In 252460 patients treated with lipid-lowering agents,24 cases of hospitalized rhabdomyolysis occurred during *** incidence per 10000 person-years for monotherapy with atorvastatin,pravastatin,or simvastatin was 0.44(95% confidence interval[CI],0.20-0.84);for cerivastatin,5.34(95%CI,1.46-13.68);and for fibrate,2.82(95%CI,0.58-8.24).By comparison,the incidence during unexposed person-time was 0(95%CI,0-0.48;P=.056).The incidence increased to 5.98 (95%CI,0.72-216.0) for combined therapy of atorvastatin,pravastatin,or simvastatin with a fibrate,and to 1035(95%CI,389-2117) for combined cerivastatin-fibrate *** year of therapy,the number needed to treat to observe 1 case of rhabdomyolysis was 22727 for statin monotherapy,484 for older patients with diabetes mellitus who were treated with both a statin and fibrate,and ranged from 9.7 to 12.7 for patients who were treated with cerivastatin plus fibrate. The combination of urbanization and global warming leads to urban overheating and compounds the frequency and intensity of extreme heat events due to climate ***,the risk of urban overheating can be mitigated by urban green-blue-grey infrastructure(GBGI),such as parks,wetlands,and engineered greening,which have the potential to effectively reduce summer air *** many reviews,the evidence bases on quantified GBGI cooling benefits remains partial and the practical recommendations for implementation are *** systematic literature review synthesizes the evidence base for heat mitigation and related co-benefits,identifies knowledge gaps,and proposes recommendations for their implementation to maximize their *** screening 27,486 papers,202 were reviewed,based on 51 GBGI types categorized under 10 main *** GBGI(green walls,parks,street trees)have been well researched for their urban cooling ***,several other GBGI have received negligible(zoological garden,golf course,estuary)or minimal(private garden,allotment)*** most efficient air cooling was observed in botanical gardens(5.0±3.5℃),wetlands(4.9±3.2℃),green walls(4.1±4.2℃),street trees(3.8±3.1℃),and vegetated balconies(3.8±2.7℃).Under changing climate conditions(2070–2100)with consideration of RCP8.5,there is a shift in climate subtypes,either within the same climate zone(e.g.,Dfa to Dfb and Cfb to Cfa)or across other climate zones(e.g.,Dfb[continental warm-summer humid]to BSk[dry,cold semi-arid]and Cwa[temperate]to Am[tropical]).These shifts may result in lower efficiency for the current GBGI in the *** the importance of multiple services,it is crucial to balance their functionality,cooling performance,and other related co-benefits when planning for the future *** global GBGI heat mitigation inventory can assist policymakers and urban planners in prioritizing effective interventions to reduce the risk of urban overheating,fi

An earthquake called the MW7.2“el Mayor Cucapah”earthquake on April 4,2010 has been analyzed for seismic *** changes in the lineament system concerning its pattern and time intervals were analyzed during the earthquake preparation period and occurrence using the automated lineament detection *** Landsat 5 TM images were processed using LeSSA and ADALGeO software obtaining similar *** statistical analysis revealed the stress accumulation due to plate interaction during earthquake *** study shows that the number of extracted lineaments changes rapidly about 23 months before the earthquake,and the systems return to the initial stage after 23 *** lineaments coincide with the extension of the San Andreas Fault as NW direction is the dominant ***,it can be concluded that the featural changes within the Rose diagram corresponding to the different strokes direction along with oriented elongation lines as disclosed in the present study using satellite images could be identified as a mid-term and/or short-term precursors of the ***,even though the dynamism of the el Mayor Cucapah earthquake is found in the extracted lineaments,it is possible to isolate more significant earthquakes even if new ones appear near the ***,using two algorithms for lineament detection allows for the tectonics to corroborate the obtained lineaments and dynamism.

Background:Hemodialysis(HD) per se is a risk factor for *** the growing body of evidence on blood-flow restriction(BFR) exercise in HD patients,identification of possible risk factors related to the prothrombotic agent D-dimer is required for the safety and feasibility of this training *** aim of the present study was to identify risk factors associated with higher D-dimer levels and to determine the acute effect of resistance exercise(Re) with BFR on this ***:Two hundred and six HD patients volunteered for this study(all with a glomerular filtration rate of e Re+BFR session consisted of 50% arterial occlusion pressure during 50 min sessions of HD(intradialytic exercise).Re repetitions included concentric and eccentric lifting phases(each lasting 2 s) and were supervised by a strength and conditioning ***:Several variables were associated with elevated levels of D-dimer,including higher blood glucose,citrate use,recent cardiovascular events,recent intercurrents,higher inflammatory status,catheter as vascular access,older patients(>70 years old),and HD ***,Re+BFR significantly increases D-dimer after 4 *** with borderline baseline D-dimer levels(400-490 ng/mL) displayed increased risk of elevating D-dimer over the normal range(≥500 ng/mL).Conclusion:These results identified factors associated with a heightened prothrombotic state and may assist in the screening process for HD patients who wish to undergo Re+BFR.D-dimer and/or other fibrinolysis factors should be assessed at baseline and throughout the protocol as a precautionary measure to maximize safety during Re+BFR.

Quality assessment of Continuous Operating Reference Stations(CORS)-GPS stations in Mexico

The present analysis provided the quality assessment of 65 Continuous Operating Reference Stations(CORS) situated in and around Mexico using the data of about ten years(January 2010 to January 2020).To accomplish the assessment,we considered 4 quality indexes for performing the quality check,incluing the multipath effect on L1 and L2 bands,signal-to-noise ratio in both bands,cycle slips,and ***,a new reference parameter named regio nal values for Mexico(RVM) was calculated for the stations situated in ***,an exhaustive analysis of the quality indicators in the worst and best cases was *** signal degradation was proved by a long-term time series and cru stal defo rmation analysis in GAMIT/GLOBK *** results showed a stro ng correlation between integrity,cycle slips and daily observations time,and the multipath effect is strong in the case of outdated *** study indicates that the estimated quality indexes and values could be the basis for establishing new CORS in Mexico,and the errors corrections which cannot be mitigated in the postprocessing stage would greatly help utilize the data for different scientific *** results were supported by deformation analysis in part of Baja California Peninsula in Mexico indicating northern and eastern velocity vector of -3.08±0.02 mm/yr,-7.85±0.02 mm/yr and-0.07±0.03 mm/yr,-9.33±0.02 mm/yr respectively at MPR1 and INeG stations.

Tetramethrin Identified in Fat Adjacent to Mammary Carcinoma in a Male Dog—Case Report

Canine mammary tumors (CMT) are very common in female dogs, representing approximately 50% of all tumors in this species, but are highly uncommon in male dogs and are primarily related to hyperestrogenism. There is considerable scientific interest in the possible role of environmental contaminants in the etiology of mammary tumors, specifically in relation to synthetic chemical substances released into the environment to which living beings are either directly or indirectly exposed. In this study, the presence of pyrethroid insecticide was observed in adipose tissue adjacent to canine mammary tumors. High Precision Liquid Chromatography—HPLC was adapted to detect and identify environmental contaminants in adipose tissue adjacent to malignant mammary tumor in one male dog, Akita, 12 years old. After surgery, the mass was carefully examined for malignant neoplastic lesions. Five grams of adipose tissue adjacent to the tumor was collected to detect environmental contaminants. The pyrethroid was identified as tetramethrin, at 0.20 μg/g. This is the first report in which the environmental contaminant level was detectable in adipose tissue of this male dog with a malignant mammary tumor, by HPLC. Results suggest the possible involvement of pyrethroid in the canine mammary tumor carcinogenesis since this animal did not present any other tumor that could cause hyperestrogenism.

Retention and Mobility of Copper and Lead in Soils as Influenced by Soil Horizon Properties

The mobility and bioavailability of heavy metals in soils is largely governed by sorption and desorption ***2+ and Pb2+ are among the most potentially toxic heavy metals and they are present,often concomitantly,in many polluting spills and in *** objective was to assess and compare the competitive sorption and desorption capacities and sorption hysteresis of Cu2+ and Pb2+,as well as their migration through the profiles of four natural soils:a Humic Umbrisol,an Umbric Cambisol,an endoleptic Luvisol and a Humic *** all horizons Pb2+ was invariably sorbed and retained to a greater extent than Cu2+.The sorption and retention of Cu2+ were most in?uenced by pH,e?ective cation exchange capacity(CeCe) and Mn oxide *** the other hand,the fixation capacity of Pb2+ was most in?uenced by pH,CeCe,and Mn oxide and organic matter *** and CeCe were the individual soil properties most markedly in?uencing Cu2+ and Pb2+ sorption and *** all the horizons Pb2+ exhibited greater hysteresis than Cu2+.In each soil the hysteresis in the A horizon was greater than that in the B horizon,except in the Bt horizon of the endoleptic Luvisol,due to its high pH and vermiculite *** on migration indices,Pb2+ was less mobile than Cu2+ in the studied soils.
