Objective:The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of lukewarm water compress on breast pain and breast engorgement among post-cesarean primiparous *** and Methods:This quasi-experimental posttest-only design was conducted with 60 post-cesarean section primiparous mothers between October 2018 and January 2019.A simple random sampling technique was used to allocate 30 participants to both experimental and control *** experimental group received lukewarm water compress using a sponge cloth for 20 min twice a day on the second,third,and fourth postnatal *** control group received routine hospital *** pain and engorgement were assessed using the Visual Analog Pain Scale and Breast Engorgement Assessment Scale on the third,fourth,and fifth postnatal ***:Significant differences were observed between the experimental and control groups on day 1 and day 3 in terms of breast pain and engorgement scores among post-cesarean section mothers(P0.05).Conclusion:Lukewarm water compress is effective in reducing breast pain and engorgement in post-cesarean primiparous *** research can include randomized controlled trials to evaluate the effectiveness of different therapies in treating breast pain and engorgement.

Objectives:The present study aims to assess the prevalence and predictors of smartphone addiction and insomnia among nurses working in the outpatient department(OPD)after the second wave of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)*** and Methods:A descriptive,cross-sectional study was carried out among 117 OPD nurses between October and December 2021 using a purposive sampling *** self-reported standardized scales,the Smartphone Addiction Scale-ShortVersion and Insomnia Severity Index were ***–Smirnov test,Mann–Whitney U,and Kruskal–Wallis Htest were ***’s correlation and Scatter plot were used to determine the relationship between the study variables.A stepwise multiple linear regression analysis was also ***:The majority of participants had slight smartphone addiction(78.6%)and suffered from sub-threshold to severe forms of insomnia(73.5%).A significant mild positive correlation was found between smartphone addiction and insomnia(r=0.195,P<0.05).Stepwise multivariate logistic regression analysis predicted factors such as female gender and exposure to smartphones for more than 5 years influencing smartphone addiction.A strong influence of exposure to the smartphone for more than 5 years was found on insomnia ***:Smartphone addiction and insomnia were identified problems among nurses working in the OPD after the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic,requiring an urgent need to identify and manage various factors responsible for smartphone addiction and insomnia such as female gender and years of exposure to smartphones.

An Optical Model for the Remote-Sensing of Absorption Coefficients of Phytoplankton in Oceanic/Coastal Waters

A new model for the remote sensing of absorption coefficients of phytoplankton aph (λ) in oceanic and coastal waters is developed and tested with SeaWiFS and MODIS-Aqua data. The model is derived from a rela-tionship of the remote sensing reflectance ratio Rrs (670)/Rrs (490) and aph (490) and aph (670) (from large in-situ data sets). When compared with over 470 independent in-situ data sets, the model provides accurate retrievals of the aph (λ) across the visible spectrum, with mean relative error less than 8%, slope close to unity and R2 greater than 0.8. Further comparison of the SeaWiFS-derived aph (λ) with in-situ aph (λ) values gives similar and consistent results. The model when used for analysis of MODIS-Aqua imagery, provides more realistic values of the phytoplankton absorption coefficients capturing spatial structures of the massive algal blooms in surface waters of the Arabian Sea. These results demonstrate that the new algorithm works well for both the coastal and open ocean waters observed and suggest a potential of using remote sensing to provide knowledge on the shape of phytoplankton absorption spectra that are a requirement in many inverse models to estimate phytoplankton pigment concentrations and for input into bio-optical models that predict carbon fixation rates for the global ocean.

Process intensification using liquid emulsion membranes (LEMs) for extraction of copper has been studied in this work. In LEM process the extraction and stripping processes are combined in one stage. The solubility of the solute or the chemical affinity between the solute and carrier reagent in the membrane results in the separation of the solute from the feed mixture. In this work the membrane phase comprised of LIX 664N as the extractant dissolved in kerosene and Span 80 as surfactant. The stripping phase was sulfuric acid with 180 g/l concentration and feed phase had copper concentration of 3.5 g/l. Effect of various process parameters such as batch contact time, speed of agitation, W:O ratio and treat ratio has been experimentally investigated to get better insight of the process. The maximum enrichment of copper in the internal phase obtained was 11.6 times with batch contact time of 10 minutes, agitation speed of 300 rpm and treat ratio of 6:1.

Medicinal plants have been known to treat simple to life-threatening diseases in different communities of Nepal for many years. This study aims to analyze the phytochemicals as plant secondary metabolites, evaluate the antioxidant and antibacterial activities of Rubus ellipticus, Ziziphus mauritiana, Pyrus pashia, and Drynaria coronans extracts that are commonly being used as traditional medicine. Phytochemical analysis was performed to investigate the plant’s secondary metabolites such as polyphenols, alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, reducing sugar, glycosides, tannins, carotene, phytosterols, coumarins, saponins, and anthracenes. Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is a major public health problem because treatment is complicated, cure rates are well below those for drug susceptible tuberculosis (TB), and patients may remain infectious for months or years despite receiving the best available therapy. To gain a better understanding of MDR-TB, we characterized isolates recovered from 69 patients with MDR-TB, by use of IS6110 restriction fragment-length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis;spacer oligonucleotide genotyping (i.e. spoligotyping). Clinical isolates from patients with tuberculosis have been considered to contain clonally expanded Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) strain. Over the years, the identification method based on IS6110 insertion sequences has been established as the standard for typing strains of MTB. IS6110 RFLP fingerprinting is very convincing when it is applied to classify MTB isolates harboring a large number of IS6110 in their chromosomes. Therefore, in the present study we have characterized the isolates from the patients suffering from MDR TB, on the basis of conserved Variable Number Tandem Repeats (VNTR), Direct Repeats (DR) and Insertion Sequences (IS) IS6110 elements. The polymorphic data showed significant level of dissimilarities among all the MDR isolates of MTB. Comparative studies with the DR and VNTR data substantiate that polymorphism occur among MDR-TB cases as shown by the number of repeats present in different clinical isolates.

Separation of Copper and Nickel by Solvent Extraction Using LIX 664N

Separation of copper and nickel by liquid-liquid extraction from aqueous solutions was studied using LIX 664N in kerosene as solvent. Both metals were taken in their sulfate form and ratio of copper to nickel in feed solutions was maintained as 10:1. LIX 664N concentration in kerosene was varied from 10% to 40% (v/v) and its effect was studied on percent extraction of copper and nickel for organic to aqueous (O:A) phase ratio of 2:1 at pH 2. Experimental results showed that at pH 2, copper was selectively extracted from its mixture with nickel. Selectivity for copper extraction was as high as 6000 with 40% LIX 664N. Calculations using extraction isotherm indicate almost complete recovery of copper in two stages with O:A ratio of 1:1 and in one stage with O:A ratio of 2:1. After extraction of copper, the pH of raffinate containing nickel was adjusted to a value of 9 by addition of ammonia solution. The effect of LIX 664N concentration on extraction of nickel was studied. Up to 80% nickel could be extracted with 30% LIX 664N at O:A phase ratio of 2:1. Stripping of copper from the organic phase with 180 g/l sulfuric acid at O:A phase ratio of 1:1 gave 98.5% copper recovery in a two-stage operation.

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has had a tremendous adverse impact on the global health system,public sector,and social *** is unarguably the worst pandemic of the ***,COVID-19 management is a mystery in front of us,and an authentic treatment is urgently *** repurposed drugs,like ivermectin,remdesivir,tocilizumab,baricitinib,etc.,have been used to treat COVID-19,but none are *** therapy and their combinations are emerging modalities for treating moderate COVID-19,and they have shown the potential to reduce *** antibody monotherapy,bamlanivimab,and two cocktails,casirivimab/imdevimab and bamlanivimab/esterivimab,have received authorization for emergency use by the United States Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of mild COVID-19 in high risk *** European Emergency has made similar recommendations for use of the drug in COVID-19 patients without oxygen *** brief review will focus on monoclonal antibodies and their combination cocktail therapy in managing COVID-19 infection.
