A Dosimetric Comparison of Double Arc Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy with Large Field Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy for Head and Neck Cancer

Background: This Study Evaluate two state of Art techniques, Rapid Arc and large-field sliding window IMRT in terms of dosimetric end points and delivery time for head and neck cancer. Materials and Methods: 22 patients with head and neck cancer were selected for a planning comparative study. All patients went to CT-simulation in supine position. PTVs were delineated for two dose level of prescription 70 Gy to the boost-PTV70Gy and 54 Gy to the elective-PTV54Gy in 35 equal fraction/day. Simultaneous Integrated Boost (SIB) technique plan was generated for all patients and optimized with both techniques, Rapid Arc and IMRT with similar planning objectives. Dose of all plans of both techniques were calculated for 6MV photon using AAA implemented in Eclipse treatment planning system (10.0.39) with calculating grid size of 2.5 mm. Results: Comparison of Rapid Arc and IMRT plans in every patient showed significantly higher conformity index (CI95%) (p = 0.021) and sparing of the all OARs with Rapid Arc. The average homogeneity Index (HI95%) of lower prescribed dose target PTV54Gy which is in proximity to Higher dose prescribed target PTV70Gy was improved significantly with rapid Arc (p = 0.0001). D1% of spinal cord dose reduced significantly (p = 0.047) with Rapid Arc and the average mean dose of both left-parotid (21.26 ± 8.5 Gy), right-parotid (22.37 ± 7.44 Gy) were received lesser than with IMRT (22.78 ± 11.2 Gy and 24.1 ± 7.96 Gy) respectively. A significantly less monitor unit (MU) was required to deliver the plan (p < 0.00001) with significantly lesser treatment time (p < 0.00001). Conclusion: Rapid Arc technique was superior to IMRT in sparing the OARs without compromising target coverage and delivered the plan with lesser monitor unit and treatment time.

Dietary Green Tea Extract and Antioxidants Improve Insulin Secretory Functions of Pancreatic β-Cells in Mild and Severe Experimental Rodent Model of Chronic Pancreatitis

Chronic pancreatitis (CP) is a progressive inflammatory disorder of the pancreas. It is predominantly idiopathic (with an unknown cause) in India and mostly due to alcohol in the West. Diabetes that occur secondary to chronic pancreatitis (T3c Diabetes) is often brittle, and is difficult to attain normoglycemia with conventional treatment requiring multiple doses of insulin. Mild and severe model of CP was induced in mice by repeated intraperitoneal injections of cerulein and L-arginine respectively with an intent to study islet dysfunction and develop therapeutic strategy in animal models of CP. Dietary intervention of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) was tested in both the models of CP for its beneficial effects on insulin secretory functions. Pancreata collected upon euthanasia were used to study alterations in the morphology of pancreatic parenchyma and inflammation by staining with H&E and fibrotic changes by Masson’s trichrome and picrosirius staining. Insulin secretory functions of islets were evaluated to test the efficacy of the dietary intervention on β-cell functions. Intraperitoneal glucose tolerance test was performed to monitor the glucose homeostasis before and after the dietary intervention. Both the models resulted in CP with dispersed acini, inflammation and fibrosis. The loss of acini and extent of fibrosis was more in L-arginine model. 2-fold improvement in glucose-stimulated insulin secretory functions of islets was observed with 0.5% EGCG dietary intervention in cerulein model of CP and 1.6-fold in L-arginine model of CP. A further improvement in insulin secretion by 3.2-fold was observed with additional dietary supplements like N-acetyl cysteine, curcumin in combination with EGCG. Our results thus demonstrate and highlight the therapeutic potential of dietary green tea (EGCG) supplementation in reversing islet dysfunction and improving glucose homeostasis in experimental chronic pancreatitis in mice.

The demand for cybersecurity is rising recently due to the rapid improvement of network *** a primary defense mechanism,an intrusion detection system(IDS)was anticipated to adapt and secure com-puting infrastructures from the constantly evolving,sophisticated threat ***,various deep learning methods have been put forth;however,these methods struggle to recognize all forms of assaults,especially infrequent attacks,because of network traffic imbalances and a shortage of aberrant traffic samples for model *** work introduces deep learning(DL)based Attention based Nested U-Net(ANU-Net)for intrusion detection to address these issues and enhance detection *** this IDS model,the first data preprocessing is carried out in three stages:duplication elimi-nation,label transformation,and data *** the features are extracted and selected based on the Improved Flower Pollination Algorithm(IFPA).The Improved Monarchy Butterfly Optimization Algorithm(IMBO),a new metaheuristic,is used to modify the hyper-parameters in ANU-Net,effectively increasing the learning rate for spatial-temporal information and resolving the imbalance *** the use of parallel programming,the MapReduce architecture reduces computation complexity while signifi-cantly accelerating *** publicly available data sets were used to evaluate and test the *** investigational outcomes suggest that the proposed technique can more efficiently boost the performances of IDS under the scenario of unbalanced *** proposed method achieves above 98%accuracy and classifies various attacks significantly well compared to other classifiers.

Angiotensin Ⅱ stimulates expression of transcription factors c-Jun and c-Fos in cyclosporine induced human gingival fibroblasts

The present study demonstrates that the expression of c-Jun and c-Fos are elevated in gingival fibroblast cells treated with angiotensin Ⅱ and *** healthy human gingival tissues were collected and gingival fibroblasts were isolated and *** used RT-PCR and Western blot analysis to identify the expression of c-Jun and c-Fos in cyclosporine and angiotensin II treated human gingival fibroblast *** found that angiotensin Ⅱ in combination with cyclosporine induces c-Jun and c-Fos expressions significantly;however,the angiotensin Ⅱ antagonist losartan inhibits the expression of c-Jun and c-Fos(p<0.01).The data suggest that angiotensin Ⅱ in combination with cyclosporine modulates the expression of c-Jun and c-Fos in human gingival fibroblast cells.

Stability Indicating RP-UPLC Method for Quantification of Glycopyrrolate, Methylparaben and Propylparaben Assay in Liquid Oral Formulation

Stability indicating RP-UPLC technique was developed for the simultaneous quantification of glycopyrrolate, methylparaben, and propylparaben in glycopyrrolate oral solution. The method was established by using gradient UPLC and a Waters Acquity UPLC BEH C18, 100 mm 2.1 mm, i.d 1.7 μm particle size column with a gradient program of mobile phase A and mobile phase B with a flow rate of 0.25 mL/minute, UV wavelength detection at 222 nm, column temperature of 40°C, injection volume of 2 μL, mobile phase A contains 0.05% trifluoro acetic acid in water and Acetonitrile (90:10) v/v and mobile phase-B contains 0.05% trifluoro acetic acid in water and Acetonitrile (10:90) v/v. The current research describes a single UPLC method for developing an assay method for Glycopyrrolate Oral solution that includes Glycopyrrolate (Active), Methylparaben (Preservative), and Propylparaben (Preservative). The assay method was validated in accordance with ICH guidelines. The retention times of glycopyrrolate, methyl paraben and propylparaben were 6.051 min, 3.458 min and 8.095 min, respectively. Linearity range of glycopyrrolate, methyl paraben and propylparaben were in the range of 4 - 32 μg per mL, 35 - 290 μg per mL and 4 - 32 μg per mL, respectively. Recovery of glycopyrrolate, methylparaben and propylparaben ranged from 100.1% to 98.9%, 100.2% - 100.8%, and 100.2% - 100.8%. Validation of analytical method demonstrated that the method is suitable, specific, linear, accurate, precise, rugged and stability indicating for estimating three components in the pharmaceutical dosage form.

Interleaved high-gain boost converter powered by solar energy using hybrid-based MPP tracking technique

This paper presents a solar-powered interleaved high-gain boost converter(IHGBC)that increases voltage gain with fewer ripples in the output voltage in comparison to existing DC-DC *** goal of this research is to develop a hybrid-based maximum power point tracking(MPPT)approach with the combination of a flower pollination(FP)algorithm assisted with a perturb&observe(P&O)MPPT approach for solar photovoltaic(SPV)systems integrated with *** ensure effective usage of both FP and P&O algorithms,this study incorporates and validates the hybrid-based MPPT *** proposed solar-powered IHGBC with a hybrid-based MPPT algorithm has been computationally modelled and simulated using MATLAB®and Simulink®for both uniform and non-uniform irradiation and analysed for voltage gain,ripples in the output waveforms and convergence *** proposed hybrid-based MPPT is based on a number of flowers that forecast the initial global peak,assisted by P&O in the last stage for faster convergence to attain the maximum power point(MPP).As a result,the hybrid-based MPPT approach alleviates the computational issues encountered in P&O and FP-based MPP *** proposed hybrid MPPT is compared with conventional MPPT for SPV and the results show that the solar-powered IHGBC using a hybrid-based MPPT technique has negligible oscillations of 0.14%with a high-voltage gain of 7.992 and a fast convergence rate of 0.05 seconds compared to individual P&O-based MPPT and FP-based MPPT *** simulation results of the proposed MPPT with IHGBC outperform the conventional MPPT with high-gain converters.

LC–HRMS determination of piperine on rat dried blood spots: A pharmacokinetic study

A liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry （LC-HRMS） method was developed and validated for the determination of piperine （PPR） on dried blood spots （DBS）. DBS samples were prepared by spiking the whole blood with analyte to produce 30 μL of blood spots on specimen collection cards. Chromatographic separation was achieved on an Atlantis dC18 column using acetonitrile and water （0.1% formic acid）（85：15, v/v） as mobile phase in an isocratic mode of elution at a flow rate of 0.75 mL/min. MS detection was carried out in electrospray positive ion mode for the target ions and monitored at m/z 286.1465 for PPR and 272.1303 for the internal standard （IS）. The developed method exhibited a linear dynamic range over 0.01-2000 ng/mL for PPR on DBS. The overall extraction recovery of PPR from DBS was 92.5%. Influence of hematocrit and spot volume on DBS was also evaluated and found to be well within the acceptable limits. The method was successfully applied to pharmacokinetic studies of PPR in rats.

Evaluation of Large Amplitude Free Vibration Behavior of Moderately Thick Square Plates Using Coupled Displacememt Field Method

A simple and efficient coupled displacement field method is developed to study the large amplitude free vibration behavior of the moderately thick square plates.A single term trigonometric admissible displacement field is assumed for one of the variables,say,the total rotations(in both X,Y directions).Making use of the coupling equation,the spatial variation for the lateral displacement field is derived in terms of the total *** coupled displacement field method makes the energy formulation to contain half the number of unknown independent coefficients,in the case of a square plate,contrary to the conventional RayleighRitz *** lesser number of undetermined coefficients significantly simplifies the vibration *** expressions for the linear and nonlinear fundamental frequency parameters for the all edges simply supported moderately thick square plates are *** numerical results obtained from the present formulation are in very good agreement with those obtained from the existing literature.

Anti-microbial principles of selected remedial plants from Southern India

Objective:To examine the anti-bacterial activity of leaf extracts of Morus alba L.(Moraceae)and Piper betel L.(Piperaceae),and seed extracts of Bombax ceiba L.(Borabacaceae).Methods:We have partially purified plant extracts by solvent extraction method,and evaluated the effect of individual fractions on bacterial growth using Escherichia coli(***),Pseudomonas aeruginosa(***) and Staphylococcus aureus(***) bacterial ***:Compared with Morus and Bombax fractions,Piper fractions showed significant growth inhibition on all the three types of bacteria *** EtOAc-hexane fractions of Piper leaves exhibited significant antibacterial activity with minimum inhibitory concentrations(MIC) of 50 μg/mL culture against both gram-positive and gram-negative *** EtOAc-fractions Ⅰ,Ⅱ,and Ⅳ inhibited bacterial colony formation on soft agar in addition to growth inhibition.A combination treatment of piper fractions with ampicillin resulted in significant growth inhibition in *** and ***,and combination with anticancer drug geldanamycin(2 μg/mL) showed selective growth inhibition against *** and *** major compounds,i.e.,eugenol,3-hexene-ol and stigmasterol,were primarily identified from Piper betel leaf *** the individual compounds,eugenol treatment showed improved growth inhibition compared with stigmasterol and ***:We are reporting potential anti-bacterial compounds from Piper betel against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria either alone or in combination with drug treatment.
