The use of Vis-NIR-SWIR spectroscopy in the prediction of soil available ions after application of rock powder

Some of the problems attributed to traditional laboratory analyses that limit the correct assessment of the nutrient contents in the soil are time requirements and high cost of the soil nutrient *** solve these problems,a study was carried out to evaluate the use of visible,near-infrared,and short-wave infrared(Vis-NIR-SWIR)spectroscopy in the prediction of soil available ions submitted to the application of rock *** study was carried out on an Arenosol in ParanavaíCity/***(rock powders)were arranged within a split-plot system designed in randomized blocks with four *** was cultivated for 14 months after the application of rock ***,96 soil samples were collected for measuring the pH and available ions P,K^(+),Ca^(2+),Mg^(2+),S-SO_(4)^(2-),Si,Cu^(2+),Fe^(2+),Mn^(2+),and Zn^(2+)as well as spectral reading through a Vis-NIR-SWIR spectroradiometer to predict the soil chemical attributes through the partial least square regression(PLS)*** results showed that the elements K^(+),Ca^(2+),Mg^(2+),Cu^(2+),and Fe^(2+)could be predicted with a reasonable rightness degree(R^(2)_(p)>0.50,RPDp>1.40)from spectral ***,for the attributes pH,P,S-SO_(4)^(2-),Si,Mn^(2+),and Zn^(2+),there were no satisfactory models(R^(2)_(p)<0.50,RPDp<1.40).Thus,the application of rock powder changed the spectral curves and,because of that,allows the building of PLS models to predict the elements K^(+),Ca^(2+),Mg^(2+),Cu^(2+),and Fe^(2+).Therefore,Vis-NIR-SWIR spectroscopy is a promising alternative to the routine analyses of soil fertility since it has advantages such as fast analytical speed,low cost,easy to operate,non-destructive,and environmentally friendly,because it does not use harmful chemicals.

Multi-aspect analysis of ureteral access sheath usage in retrograde intrarenal surgery: A RIRSearch group study

Objective:To evaluate the effect of ureteral access sheath(UAS)use and calibration change on stone-free rate and complications of retrograde intrarenal surgery(RIRS).Methods:Data from 568 patients undergoing RIRS for kidney or upper ureteral stones were retrospectively ***,patients were compared after 1:1 propensity score matching,according to UAS usage during RIRS(UAS used[+]87 and UAS non-used[−]87 patients).Then all UAS+patients(n=481)were subdivided according to UAS calibration:9.5-11.5 Fr,10-12 Fr,11-13 Fr,and 13-15 *** outcomes of the study were the success and complications of ***:Stone-free rate of UAS+patients(86.2%)was significantly higher than UAS−patients(70.1%)after propensity score matching(p=0.01).Stone-free rate increased with higher caliber UAS(9.5-11.5 Fr:66.7%;10-12 Fr:87.0%;11-13 Fr:90.6%;13-15 Fr:100%;p<0.001).Postoperative complications of UAS+patients(11.5%)were significantly lower than UAS−patients(27.6%)(p=0.01).Complications(8.7%)with 9.5-11.5 Fr UAS was lower than thicker UAS(17.2%)but was not statistically significant(p=0.09).UAS usage was an independent factor predicting stone-free status or peri-and post-operative complications(odds ratio[OR]3.654,95%confidence interval[CI]1.314-10.162;OR 4.443,95%CI 1.350-14.552;OR 4.107,95%CI 1.366-12.344,respectively).Conclusion:Use of UAS in RIRS may increase stone-free rates,which also increase with higher caliber *** usage may reduce complications;however,complications seemingly increase with higher UAS calibration.

Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH),an advanced form of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),has emerged as the leading cause of liver failure and related ***,no medication is specifically approved to treat NAFLD or *** we report that oral administration of honey vesiclelike nanoparticles(H-VLNs)to naturally aged mice protects the liver from NASH development.H-VLNs are dominantly taken up by Kupffer cells in the liver and suppress hepatic chronic inflammation and further development of fibrosis and nodule formation in aged *** their reported antiinflammasome function,H-VLNs are found to inhibit the transcriptional activities of C-JUN and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB).MicroRNAs miR5119 and miR5108 and phenolic compound luteolin in H-VLNs are identified in suppressing both the C-JUN and NF-kB ***,oral intake of H-VLNs represents a promising new user-friendly modality to prevent the development of NASH.

Connexin 43 (CX43) is one of the major components of gap junctions, the structures responsible for the intercellular communication and transmission of the electrical impulse in the left ventricle. There is limited information on the histological changes of CX43 with age and their effect on electrophysiology, especially in humans. Here, we analyzed left ventricular biopsies from living donors starting at midlife to characterize age-related CX43 remodeling. We assessed its quantity, degree of lateralization, and spatial heterogeneity together with fibrotic deposition. We observed no significant age-related remodeling of CX43. Only spatial heterogeneity increased slightly with age, and this increase was better explained by biological age than by chronological age. Importantly, we found that CX43 features varied considerably among individuals in our population with no relevant relationship to age or fibrosis content, in contrast to animal species. We used our experimental results to feed computational models of human ventricular electrophysiology and to assess the effects of interindividual differences in specific features of CX43 and fibrosis on conduction velocity, action potential duration, and arrhythmogenicity. We found that larger amounts of fibrosis were associated with the highest arrhythmic risk, with this risk being increased when fibrosis deposition was combined with a reduction in CX43 amount and/or with an increase in CX43 spatial heterogeneity. These mechanisms underlying high arrhythmic risk in some individuals were not associated with age in our study population. In conclusion, our data rule out CX43 remodeling as an age-related arrhythmic substrate in the population beyond midlife, but highlight its potential as a proarrhythmic factor at the individual level, especially when combined with increased fibrosis.

Phylogeny and evolutionary significance of vermiform animals from the Early Cambrian Chengjiang Lagersttte

The Early Cambrian Chengjiang Biota of China has preserved many species of vermiform animals in exquisite detail,which provide a unique window into the origin and early evolution of different vermiform *** article reviews and discusses the forty-five Chengjiang vermiform animals discovered so far,and specifically comments on the phylogeny,modes of life,evolutionary significance as well as existing debates concerning the Chengjiang priapulid and lobopodian *** article analyzes existing problems with Chengjiang vermiform morphological research and highlights various factors that affect the final preserved fossil morphology,including taphonomy and shape change caused by vermiform movement,as well as proposing that Anningvermis multispinosa and Corynetis brevis are *** vermiform animals displayed a great diversity of morphologies and ecological roles,which is significant for understanding the origin and evolution of early metazoans;the potential for future research is enormous but needs to be broadened by interdisciplinary work involving taphonomy,geochemistry,cladistics,and genetics.

The Zonal Structure of the Hadley Circulation

A discussion of the mass transport of the Hadley circulation is presented, with regard to its longitudinal structure. Data from the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data set for the period 1948-2005 is examined, focusing on the solsticial seasons of June-August and December-February. Quantitative estimates have been extracted from the data to observe connections between the zonal mean of the upper tropospheric north/south mass transports and their relationship to the driving factor of tropical precipitation （implying latent heat release） and subsidence in the subtropical high pressure belts. The longitudinal structure of this flow is then examined with regard to these three main variables. The poleward upper tropospheric transport has four （JJA） or three （DJF） main branches, which link regions of major precipitation with corresponding regions of large subsidence, and one （June, July, August） or two （December, January, February） reverse branches. This structure has remained stable over the past sixty years. Although the total upper tropospheric transport in each season is less than the total sinking transport in the target subtropical high pressure belt, this does not apply to the individual branches, the balance being made up by the upper tropospheric reverse transports. An analysis of correlations between all of these various components shows, however, that the complete picture is more complex, with some precipitation regions being linked to subsidence regions outside their own branch.

The behaviour of inlet roughness in lubrication of piston ring-cylinder liner

The improvement of lubrication of piston ring-cyinder liner is always in demand, andsurface roughness behaviour plays a very important role. The present paper will explore this be-haviour and investigate how the inlet roughness of ring influences the lubrication of pistonring-cylinder. The quantitative results of this combination of surface roughness on friction force, oilfilm thickness and frictional power loss are given and discussed.

Antidepressant-Like Effects of Hesperidin in Animal Model of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Objective:Post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD)is a psychiatric disorder characterized by depression and anxiety,that arises due to an imbalance of neurotransmitters in response to excessive ***(HSD)is a naturally occurring flavonoid shown to exert a variety of biological activities,including antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,and neuroprotective ***:This study was used the open field test(OFT)and forced swimming test(FST)to examine the effects of HSD on the depression-like response of rats after exposure to a single prolonged stress(SPS)leading to the dysregulation of the serotonergic activation *** rats were given HSD(20,50,and 100 mg/kg,intraperitoneal injection,n=6–7 per group)once daily for 14 days after exposure to *** influence of administration of HSD on SPS-induced behavioral responses and concentrations of serotonin(5-HT),5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid(5-HIAA),and monoamine oxidase-A(MAO-A)in the rat brain were also investigated using enzyme-linked immunoassays(ELISAs).Results:Daily HSD administration significantly improved depression-like behaviors in the FST(P<0.05),increased the number of lines crossed in the central zone of the OFT(P<0.01),and reduced freezing behavior both in contextual and cued fear *** treatment also attenuated the reduction in SPS-induced 5-HT concentrations in the hippocampus and *** increase in 5-HT concentrations during HSD treatment was partially attributed to a decrease in the 5-HIAA/5-HT ratio in the hippocampus of rats with ***,HSD treatment inhibited activity of MAO-A and decreases of tryptophan hydroxylase-1 expression in the ***:HSD was shown to exert antidepressant effects in rats exposed to SPS,suggesting that this natural flavonoid may be an effective medicine for PTSD.

Monodisperse Nickel Nanoparticles Supported on SiO_(2) as an Effective Catalyst for the Hydrolysis of Ammonia-Borane

Monodisperse Ni nanoparticles(NPs)have been synthesized by the reduction of nickel(Ⅱ)acetylacetonate with the borane–tributylamine complex in a mixture of oleylamine and oleic *** Ni NPs are an active catalyst for the hydrolysis of the ammonia–borane(AB,H3N⋅BH3)complex under ambient conditions and their activities are dependent on the chemical nature of the oxide support that they were deposited *** various oxides(SiO_(2),Al_(2)O_(3),and CeO_(2))tested,SiO_(2)was found to enhance Ni NP catalytic activity due to the etching of the 3.2 nm Ni NPs giving Ni(Ⅱ)ions and the subsequent reduction of Ni(Ⅱ)that led to the formation of 1.6 nm Ni NPs on the SiO_(2)*** kinetics of the hydrolysis of AB catalyzed by Ni/SiO_(2)was shown to be dependent on catalyst and substrate concentration as well as *** Ni/SiO_(2)catalyst has a turnover frequency(TOF)of 13.2 mol H_(2)⋅(mol Ni)^(–1)⋅min^(–1)—the best ever reported for the hydrolysis of AB using a nickel catalyst,an activation energy of 34 kJ/mol±2 kJ/mol and a total turnover number of 15,400 in the hydrolysis of *** is a promising candidate to replace noble metals for catalyzing AB hydrolysis and for hydrogen generation under ambient conditions.
