Silver-copper electrocatalysts have demonstrated effectively catalytic performance in electroreduction CO_(2) toward CH_(4),yet a revealing insight into the reaction pathway and mechanism has remained ***,we construct chemically bonded Ag-Cu_(2)O boundaries,in which the complete reduction of Cu_(2)O to Cu has been strongly impeded owing to the presence of surface Ag *** interfacial confinement effect helps to maintain Cu^(+)sites at the Ag-Cu_(2)O *** in situ/operando spectroscopy and theoretical simulations,it is revealed that CO_(2) is enriched at the Ag-Cu_(2)O boundaries due to the enhanced physisorption and chemisorption to CO_(2),activating CO_(2) to form the stable intermediate^(*)*** boundaries between Ag shell and the Cu_(2)O mediate local^(*)CO coverage and promote^(*)CHO intermediate formation,consequently facilitating CO_(2)-to-CH_(4) *** work not only reveals the structure-activity relationships but also offers insights into the reaction mechanism on Ag-Cu catalysts for efficient electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction.

In the context of global efforts to reduce carbon (C) emissions, several studies have examined the effects of agricultural practices such as straw returning and fertilization on C sequestration by microorganisms. However, our understanding of the specific microbial groups and their roles in long-term C increase remains limited. In this study, a 3.-year (1984–2020) farmland experiment was conducted to investigate the impact of bacterial C metabolism on the augmentation of organic C in a Typic Hapludoll (Mollisol) in the black soil region of Jilin Province, Northeast china. Our results demonstrated a noteworthy increase in the diversity of microorganisms in the farmland as a result of long-term straw returning and application of mixed chemical fertilizers. However,by examining the functions of microorganisms involved in C metabolism, it was observed that the effects of fertilization on C metabolism were relatively consistent. This consistency was attributed to a deterministic competitive exclusion process, which minimized the differences between treatment groups. On the other hand, the influence of straw addition on C metabolism appeared to follow a more random pattern. These changes in microbial activity were closely linked to the downregulation of core metabolic pathways related to C metabolism. Notably, long-term fertilization had a negative impact on soil organic C levels, while long-term straw returning plus fertilization resulted in a positive increase in soil organic C. These findings have important implications for enhancing soil organic C and grain yield in the regions with typical black soil.

The electrochemical nitrate reduction reaction(NO_(3.RR)to ammonia under ambient conditions is a promising approach for addressing elevated nitrate levels in water bodies,but the progress of this reaction is impeded by the complex series of chemical reactions involving electron and proton transfer and competing hydrogen evolution ***,it becomes imperative to develop an electro-catalyst that exhibits exceptional efficiency and remarkable selectivity for ammonia synthesis while maintaining long-term *** the magnetic biochar(Fe-C)has been synthesized by a two-step mechanochemical route after a pyrolysis treatment(450,700,and 1000℃),which not only significantly decreases the particle size,but also exposes more oxygen-rich functional groups on the surface,promoting the adsorption of nitrate and water and accelerating electron transfer to convert it into *** showed that the catalyst(Fe-C-700)has an impressive NH_(3.production rate of 3.5 mol·h^(−1)·gcat^(−1),high Faradaic efficiency of 88%,and current density of 0.3. A·cm^(−2)at 0.8 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE).In-situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)is used to investigate the reaction intermediate and to monitor the *** oxygen functionalities on the catalyst surface activate nitrate ions to form various intermediates(NO_(2),NO,NH_(2)OH,and NH_(2))and reduce the rate determining step energy barrier(*NO_(3.→*NO_(2)).This study presents a novel approach for the use of magnetic biochar as an electro-catalyst in NO_(3.RR and opens the road for solving environmental and energy challenges.

The electroplating industry is the main source of 6:2 chlorinated polyfluorinated ether sulfonate(6:2 Cl-PFESA)pollution,which presents risks to human health and the *** is therefore crucial to develop effective 6:2 Cl-PFESA degradation *** oxidation is a potential treatment method for 6:2 Cl-PFESA due to its outstanding oxidative degradability following the generation of the sulfate radical(SO_(4)^(•−))and hydroxyl radical(•OH).It has proven difficult to acquire a full understanding of the reaction mechanism and formation of intermediate(IM)products through conventional experimental studies because they are costly and ***,a theoretical analysis method based on density functional theory(DFT)calculations was *** DFT results showed that electron transfer for the degradation of 6:2 Cl-PFESA could be initiated by the protonated sulfate radical(HSO_(4)•,ΔG≠SET=9.16 kcal/mol),rather than SO4•−(ΔG≠SET=41.60 kcal/mol).After desulfonation,the reaction underwent stepwise decarboxylation cycles under the action of•OH,leading to the elimination of the CF_(2) units until there was complete mineralization into HCl,HF,and CO_(2).Furthermore,the IMs and the end products of 6:2 Cl-PFESA were evaluated using ECOSAR and TEST *** low bioaccumulation of the short-chain IMs meant that they could be considered safe in terms of ecotoxicity and health *** research determined the theoretical and mechanistic basis of the effects of persulfate in the treatment of water containing 6:2 Cl-PFESA,and its structural analogues.

By integrating forest inventory data with remotely sensed data, new data layers for factors that affect forest fire potentials were generated for Baihe Forestry Bureau in Jilin Province of china. The principle component analysis was used to sort out the relationships between forest fire potentials and environmental factors. The classifications of these factors were performed with GIS, generating three maps: a fuel-based fire risk map, a topography-based fire risk map, and an anthropogenic-factor fire risk map. These three maps were then synthesized to generate the final fire risk map. The linear regression method was used to analyze the relationship between an area-weighted value of forest fire risks and the frequency of historical forest fires at each forest farm. The results showed that the most important factor contributing to forest fire ignition was topography, followed by anthropogenic factors.

A mechanism for energy transfer from the solar wind to the Martian ionosphere through open magnetic flux rope is proposed based on the observations by Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN(MAVEN).The satellite was located in the dayside magnetosheath at an altitude of about 70o km above the northern *** between the hot solar wind protons and the cold heavy ions/neutrals in the subsolar region can cool the protons and heat the heavy *** a result,the magnetosheath protons are siphoned into the ionosphere due to the thermal pressure gradient of protons and the heated heavy ions escape along the open magnetic field *** direct collisions in the lower-altitude region were not detected,this physical process is demonstrated by MAVEN measurements of enhanced proton density,decreased proton temperature and oppositely directed motions of hot and cool protons within the flux rope,which are very different from the observational features of the flux transfer events near the Earth's *** mechanism could universally exist in many contexts where a collisionless plasma region is connected to a collisional plasma *** reconstructing the magnetic geometry and the cross-section of the flux rope using the Grad-Shafranov technique,the ion loss rates are quantitatively estimated to be on the order of 1023.s-l,which is much higher than previously estimated.
