Phloroglucinol, a nutraceutical for IR-induced cardiac damage in diabetic rats

Background:Myocardial injury due to ischemia‐reperfusion(IR)is aggravated in diabetes which is associated with oxidative *** oxidative stress via use of antioxidants has been shown to be effective at minimizing myocardial cell death and improving cardiac *** aim of the present study was to evaluate the cardioprotective effect of phloroglucinol against myocardial reperfusion injury(MRI)in diabetic ***:Diabetes was induced in female rats with streptozotocin(50 mg/kg).The diabetic rats were orally treated with phloroglucinol(100 and 200 mg/kg daily for 28 days).After treatment the hearts were isolated and mounted on a Langendorff *** hearts were subjected to 15 minutes of IR to induce myocardial *** functions including heart rate(HR),resting and developed tension,and rate of change of contraction(+dP/dtmax)were *** injury biomarkers lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)and creatine kinase(CK‐MB)were measured in the heart *** of the antioxidant enzymes reduced glutathione(GSH)and malondialdehyde(MDA)were *** and eosin(H&E)staining was also ***:After IR injury,a decrease in HR and+dP/dtmax in hearts from diabetic rat was seen compared to healthy rat hearts,which was reversed by phloroglucinol *** infarct size,measured by H&E staining,was increased in diabetic rats compared to healthy rats and an increase in the activity of LDH and CK‐MB in the heart perfusate in diabetic rats was decreased by phloroglucinol *** increase in MDA levels and a decrease in levels of antioxidant enzymes were observed in diabetic rats,which was reversed with phloroglucinol ***:Phloroglucinol treatment has potential therapeutic promise in the treatment of MRI in diabetes.

A Compact Quad-Band Sickle-Shaped Monopole Antenna for GSM 900/WiMax/WLAN Applications

In this paper a novel,compact,microstrip-fed,quad-band monopole antenna is presented for the application of Global System for Mobile communication(GSM 900),Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access(WiMAX)and Wireless Local Area Network(WLAN).The proposed antenna comprises of a sickle-shaped structure with four circular arc strips,and a modified rectangular ground *** four strips of the antenna are independently responsible for the four different resonant frequencies of the operating bands and can be tuned separately to control the radiation *** proposed quad-band antenna is designed to resonate at 940 MHz for GSM 900,2.5 and 3.5 GHz for WiMAX and 5.85 GHz for WLAN *** the four intended operating bands,the antenna exhibits impedance bandwidth of 60 MHz(905–965MHz),80 MHz(2.45–2.53 GHz),110 MHz(3.48–3.59 GHz)and 2.39 GHz(4.82–7.21 GHz),*** the resonance frequency of the four bands,the gain of the proposed antenna is obtained as 4.2,2.5,1.7 and 1.9 dBi,respectively.A prototype of the designed antenna is fabricated and a good agreement between simulated and measured results is ***,the proposed antenna shows good radiation characteristics and gains at all the four operating bands.

Dynamic threshold voltage operation in Si and SiGe source junctionless tunnel field effect transistor

We propose a dynamic threshold voltage j unctionless tunnel FET （DT-JLTFET） in wnlcn me mresnolu voltage can be dynamically adjusted, resulting in higher ON-current. Through 2D numerical simulations, it is presented that the threshold voltage in the DT-JLTFET can be adjusted by applying a voltage to the adjust gate. The impact of the threshold voltage shift on the overall performance of the device is also studied. A comparison is made between the dynamic threshold voltage characteristics of a silicon JLTFET and a Sio.7Geo.3 source JLTFET.

Mineralogy and carbothermal reduction behaviour of vanadium-bearing titaniferous magnetite ore in Eastern India

Vanadium-beaxing titaniferous magnetite bands hosted by Precambrian gabbro-norite-anorthositic rocks or their metamorphic equivalents were discovered in some parts of Eastern Indian Shield, containing 48%-49% Fe （total）, 10%-25% TiO2, and 0.3%-2.20% V2O5 by mass. Mineralogical and petrological study, composition, and characterization of the vanadium-bearing titaniferous magnetite ore were carried out by scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray （SEM-EDX）, wave length X-ray florescence （WDXRF）, inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy （ICP-AES）, X-ray diffraction （XRD）, etc. Chemical beneficiation for valuable metals, such as Fe, Ti, andV, was performed by reduction roasting. The direct and indirect reduction were investigated by mixing the lump ore with solid activated charcoal in a closed reactor and purging the reducing gas mixture in standard reducibility index apparatus at different temperatures and time intervals. The reduction roasting parameters were optimized. Finally, the reduced samples were crushed and upgraded by magnetic separation. The results show that, the maximum mass fractions of magnetic and nonmagnetic parts achieved axe 69.36% and 30.64%, respectively, which contain 10.6% TiO2 and 0.84% V205 in the magnetic part and 36.5% TiO2 and 0.22% V205 in the nonmagnetic part.

Study of Improved Load Sharing Methodologies for Distributed Generation Units Connected in a Microgrid

In this paper,an improved load sharing strategy is proposed for distributed generation units(DGs)connected in a *** frequency and voltage droop control result in unacceptable active and reactive power *** proposed method formulates a suitable algorithm for load sharing in the islanded *** feeder power loss and the line impedance voltage drops are minimized so as to regulate the voltage at the point of common coupling(PCC)at its nominal *** desired DG output voltages are calculated and a linear relationship is obtained between the shared active and reactive powers and the DG output voltages.A master DG controller sets the frequency which is followed by other DG *** reference powers for the DG units are adjusted so as to maintain the rated PCC *** proposed strategy is verified taking into account the DG ratings,unequal line impedance drops,feeder losses,change in system impedance and effect of DG local loads and formulates an improved power sharing strategy that also facilitates PCC voltage regulation under variable loading *** and experimental results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A novel sub 20 nm single gate tunnel field effect transistor with intrinsic channel for ultra low power applications

We propose a nanoscale single gate ultra thin body intrinsic channel tunnel field effect transistor using the charge plasma concept for ultra low power applications. The characteristics of TFETs （having low leakage） are improved by junctionless TFETs through blending advantages of Junctionless FETs （with high on current）. We further improved the characteristics, simultaneously simplifying the structure at a very low power rating using an InAs channel. We found that the proposed device structure has reduced short channel effects and parasitics and provides high speed operation even at a very low supply voltage with low leakage. Simulations resulted in Iovv of - 9 × 10-16A/um, IoN of ,-20uA/um, ION/IoFF of--2× 1010, threshold voltage of 0.057 V, subthreshold slope of 7 mV/dec and DIBL of 86 mV/V for PolyGate/HfO2/InAs TFET at a temperature of 300 K, gate length of 20 nm, oxide thickness of 2 nm, film thickness of 10 nm, low-k spacer thickness of 10 nm and VDD of 0.2 V.

Preparation of rice fermented food using root of Asparagus racemosus as herbal starter and assessment of its nutrient profle

The popularity of traditional fermented food products is based on their *** addition of a starter brings consistent,desirable,and predictable food changes with improved nutritive,functional,and sensory *** addition of a mixture of plant residues as a starter or source of microbes is an age-old practice to prepare traditional fermented food and beverages,and most of the reported data on traditional foods were based on the analysis of the fnal *** contribution of an individual starter component(plant residue)is not experimentally substantiated for any traditional fermented food,but this data are very essential for the formulation of an efective *** this study,Asparagus racemosus,which used as a common ingredient of starter for preparation of rice fermented food in the Indian sub-continent,was used as a starter for the preparation of rice fermented food under laboratory scale,and its microbial and nutrient profle was *** fermented product was a good source of lactic acid bacteria,Bifdobacterium sp.,yeast,*** food product was acidic and enriched with lactic acid and acetic acid with titratable acidity of 0.65%.The content of protein,fat,minerals,and vitamins(water-soluble)was considerably *** notably,oligosaccharide(G3-matotriose),unsaturated fatty acids(ω3,ω6,ω7,andω9),and a pool of essential and non-essential amino acids were enriched in the newly formulated ***,the herbal starter-based rice fermented food would provide important macro-and *** could also deliver large numbers of active microorganisms for the sustainability of ***,the selected plant part conferred its suitability as an efective starter for the preparation of healthier rice-based food products.

Integrated application of some compatible biocontrol agents along with mustard oil seed cake and furadan on Meloidogyne incognita infecting tomato plants

Experiments were carried out to study the effect of two fungal bioagents along with mustard oil cake and furadan against root knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita infecting tomato under greenhouse condition. Bioagents viz., Paecilomyces lilacinus and Trichoderma viride alone or in combination with mustard cake and furadan promoted plant growth, reduced number of galls/plant, egg masses/root system and eggs/egg mass. The fungal bioagents along with mustard cake and nematicide showed least nematodes reproduction factor as compared to untreated infested soil.
