Assessment of phytotoxic, genotoxic and enzyme inhibition potential of Sterculia diversifolia

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate Sterculia diversifolia stem bark and leaves for phytotoxic,genotoxic and enzymes inhibition ***:Phytotoxic activity of both stem bark and leaves were screened using Lemna *** genotoxic activity of Sterculia diversifolia stem bark and leaves extracts were tested using comet assay protocol while enzyme inhibition activity of crude extract and various fractions of both stem bark and leaves were evaluated using acetyl cholinesterase,lipoxygenase,β-glucuronidase,urease,xanthine oxidase and carbonic ***:Phytotoxic activity showed significant results in dose dependant manner in both stem bark(ethyl acetate and n-butanol)and leaves(ethyl acetate,nbutanol and n-hexane)*** genotoxic activity,dichloromethane fraction showed significant activity followed by ethyl acetate *** cholinesterease inhibitory activity showed significant results in both stem bark and leaves fractions,while significant lipoxygenase inhibition was shown by ethyl acetate,dichloromethane,crude extract and n-hexane fractions of both stem bark and leaves.β-glucuronidase,urease and carbonic anhydrase inhibitory activity showed highly significant results in ethyl acetate fraction of both stem bark and leaves,while xanthine oxidase inhibition was shown by dichloromethane fraction of stem bark and leaves ***:This study emphasizes the important phytotoxic,genotoxic and enzyme inhibition effects of Sterculia diversifolia stem bark and ***,it is clear that Sterculia diversifolia stem bark and leaves possess phytotoxic,genotoxic and enzyme inhibitory agents.

Scientific interest in student’s mental health experiences has been increasing in the last years due to their influence on students’learning processes,academic performance,and recently,the suicidal news of a student at a private university due to her mental health condition in Lahore Punjab,Pakistan,captured public *** incident also shifted researchers and scholars’attention on the much underexplored and tabooed sphere of the broader public health ***,the current study aimed to explore the relationship between mental health problems and Pakistani university students’academic *** were 540 senior semester students within the age range of 20–35 years taken from public and private institutes of Pakistan’s major cities,including Lahore,Islamabad,and *** and inferential statistics was employed for data *** Product Moment Correlation,Hierarchical Regression analysis,and Independent sample t-test were used for data analysis in inferential *** results of the study reveal that there is a strong positive association between mental health and improvement in academic *** health problems negatively affect the academic performance of university *** findings of the current study were beneficial for shedding light on the ignorant area within the broader public health domain;the results are also helpful in raising awareness for not only students but also the parents and university administration to plan and design effective intervention strategies to provide proper mental health that resultantly promote academic excellence.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate Sterculia diversifolia *** for potential anti-diabetic activity in the in vivo mouse model of alloxan-induced ***:Sterculia diversifolia(***)was subjected to extraction and isolation techniques and structural characterization of the isolated compounds were performed using spectroscopic *** acute toxicity test was performed by orally administering *** in doses of 500-2000 mg/*** the assessment of anti-hyperglycemic activity,*** bark and leaves extracts were administered orally in doses of 50,100,and 200 mg/kg,along with metformin(150 mg/kg,i.p)as positive control,after confirmation of alloxan(150 mg/kg,i.p.)induced hyperglycemia in BALB/c *** biochemical parameters were monitored for the period of ***:The phytochemical studies showed the presence of quercetin and kaempferol in *** IC50 values in the in vivo acute toxicity study revealed the safety margin of *** bark(1166.66 mg/kg)and leaves(683.34 mg/kg)extracts.A significant attenuation of alloxan induced hyperglycemia was produced by *** extracts at 50 mg/kg(P<0.05),100 mg/kg(P<0.05,<0.01),and 150 mg/kg(P<0.05,<0.01,<0.001)during 1-4 h,which was comparable to metformin(P<0.001).Significant(P<0.001)improvement appeared in blood hemoglobin,protein,cholesterol,triglycerides,urea,creatinine,HDL,and LDL of the stem bark and leaves extracts treated diabetic ***:These findings connote the usefulness of *** as an anti-diabetic in traditional medicine and this might be attributed to the presence of quercetin and kaempferol,among other phytochemicals.

It is highly desired to develop efficient photocatalysts with recycling property for practical application to degrade toxic ***,nanosheet-assembled NiFe_(2)O_(4)microspheres with commendable activity are successfully synthesized by a facile solvothermal reaction with NH4F as the modifier,and their photoactivities are further improved by coupling with NiO through an in situ growth *** optimized nickel oxide(NiO)/nickel ferrite(NiFe_(2)O_(4))microsphere composite(5NiO/NFO-4)exhibits a satisfactory photocatalytic activity for 2,4-dichlorophenol(2,4-DCP)degradation under visible-light irradiation,which is attributed to its wide visible-light response,well-designed hierarchical structure and enhanced charge transfer and separation by coupling NiO as a high-level energy platform to accept ***,it is found that the NiO/NiFe_(2)O_(4)microsphere photocatalysts can be easily collected and recycled owing to the distinctive magnetic *** work provides a feasible route to rational design visible-light-driven photocatalysts with high-activity for environmental remediation and purification with good recyclability.

Landslides are the most frequent geoenvironmental natural hazards in hilly regions,owing to broken rock masses and slope *** year,landslides occur along the Karakorum highway in the northern section of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor,involving complex geological action and causing significant damages and *** mitigate landslide hazard risks and a better understanding of landslide occurrence in steep mountainous regions,a comprehensive and precise analysis of slow-moving landslides is *** address this challenge,a Multi-Temporal(MT),Interferometry Synthetic Aperture Radar(InSAR)approach using Small Baseline Subsets and Interferometric Point Target Analysis techniques was utilized to extract ground deformation rates.A total of 121 multitrack synthetic aperture radar images from Sentinel-1A were acquired from 2021 to 2023,enabling the detection and monitoring of ground displacement over *** active slope movements were successfully identified by calculating the differences in deformation,indicating a significant deformation rate within the trust fault lines and regional geological *** research findings reveal that the regional geological structure,including lithology and fault lines,significantly increase the deformation *** identified landslide hazard areas range from 1.47 km2 to 14.88 km2,with an annual average rate of line of sight surface displacement estimated between−4.13 to−16.07 cm/*** MT-InSAR analysis demonstrates that fault lines and geology play significant role in surface deformation,providing valuable insights into the deformation induced by regional tectonic activities.

With the advent and advancements in the wireless technologies,Wi-Fi ngerprinting-based Indoor Positioning System(IPS)has become one of the most promising solutions for localization in indoor *** the outdoor environment,the lack of line-of-sight propagation in an indoor environment keeps the interest of the researchers to develop efcient and precise positioning systems that can later be incorporated in numerous applications involving Internet of Things(IoTs)and green *** this paper,we have proposed a technique that combines the capabilities of multiple algorithms to overcome the complexities experienced ***,in the database development phase,Motley Kennan propagation model is used with Hough transformation to classify,detect,and assign different attenuation factors related to the types of ***,important parameters for system accuracy,such as,placement and geometry of Access Points(APs)in the coverage area are also *** algorithm for deployment of an additional AP to an already existing infrastructure is proposed by using Genetic Algorithm(GA)coupled with Enhanced Dilution of Precision(EDOP).Moreover,classication algorithm based on k-Nearest Neighbors(k-NN)is used to nd the position of a stationary or mobile user inside the given coverage *** k-NN to provide low localization error and reduced space dimensionality,three APs are required to be selected *** this paper,we have suggested an idea to select APs based on Position Vectors(PV)as an input to the localization *** from our comprehensive investigations,it is revealed that the accuracy of indoor positioning system using the proposed technique unblemished the existing solutions with signicant improvements.

Tectonic Imprints of the Hazara Kashmir Syntaxis on the Mesozoic Rocks Exposed in Munda, Mohmand Agency, Northwest Pakistan

Two well-developed mesoscopic folds, D_2 and D_3, which postdate the middle amphibolite metamorphism, were recognized in the western hinterland zone of Pakistan. NW–SE trending D_2 folds developed during NE–SW horizontal bulk shortening followed by NE–SW trending D_3 folds, which developed during SE–NW shortening. Micro- to mesoscopically the NW–SE trending S2 crenulation cleavage, boudins and mineral stretching lineations are overprinted by D_3. The newly established NW–SE trending micro- to mesoscopic structures in Munda termed D_2, which postdated F_1/F_2, is synchronously developed with F3 structures in the western hinterland zone of Pakistan. We interpret that D2 and D3 folds are counterclockwise rotated in the tectonic event that has evolved the Hazara Kashmir Syntaxis after the main phase Indian plate and Kohistan Island Arc collision. Chlorite replacement by biotite in the main matrix crenulation cleavages indicates prograde metamorphism related with D2. The inclusion of muscovite and biotite in garnet porphyroblasts and the presence of staurolite in these rocks indicate that the Barrovian metamorphic conditions predate D2 and D3. We interpret that garnet, staurolite and calcite porphyroblasts grew before D2 because the well developed S2 crenulation cleavage wraps around these porphyroblasts.
