Early diagnosis of osteoarthritis(OA)is critical for effective cartilage ***,lack of blood vessels in articular cartilage poses a barrier to contrast agent delivery and subsequent diagnostic *** address this challenge,we proposed to develop ultra-small superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles(SPIONs,4 nm)that can penetrate into the matrix of articular cartilage,and further modified with the peptide ligand WYRGRL(particle size,5.9 nm),which allows SPIONs to bind to type II collagen in the cartilage matrix and increase the retention of *** II collagen in the cartilage matrix is gradually lost with the progression of OA,consequently,the binding of peptide-modified ultra-small SPIONs to type II collagen in the OA cartilage matrix is less,thus presenting different magnetic resonance(MR)signals in OA group from the normal *** introducing the AND logical operation,damaged cartilage can be differentiated from the surrounding normal tissue on T1 and T2 AND logical map of MR images,and this was also verified in histology ***,this work provides an effective strategy for delivering nanosized imaging agents to articular cartilage,which could potentially be used to diagnosis joint-related diseases such as osteoarthritis.

Asthma is a serious health problem that involves not only the respiratory system but also the central nervous *** studies identified either regional or network alterations in patients with asthma,but inconsistent results were obtained.A key question remains unclear:are the regional and neural network deficits related or are they two independent characteristics in asthma?Answering this question is the aim of this *** collecting resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging from 39 patients with asthma and 40 matched health controls,brain functional measures including regional activity(amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations)and neural network function(degree centrality(DC)and functional connectivity)were calculated to systematically characterize the functional *** exhibited regional abnormities in the left angular gyrus,right precuneus,and inferior temporal gyrus within the default mode *** abnormalities involved both the sensorimotor network and visual network with key regions including the superior frontal gyrus and occipital *** DC in the lingual gyrus was correlated with the degree of airway *** study elucidated different patterns of regional and network changes,thereby suggesting that the two parameters reflect different brain characteristics of *** findings provide evidence for further understanding the potential cerebral alterations in the pathophysiology of asthma.

Glioblastoma(GBM)is the most aggressive malignant brain tumour,with a median survival of 3 months without treatment and 15 months with *** GBM diagnosis can significantly improve patient survival due to early treatment and management *** resonance imaging(MRI)using contrast agents is the preferred method for the preoperative detection of GBM ***,commercially available clinical contrast agents do not accurately distinguish between GBM,surrounding normal tissue and other cancer types due to their limited ability to cross the blood-brain barrier,their low relaxivity and their potential *** GBM-specific contrast agents are urgently needed to overcome the limitations of current contrast *** advances in nanotechnology have produced alternative GBM-targeting contrast *** surfaces of nanoparticles(NPs)can be modified with multimodal contrast imaging agents and ligands that can specifically enhance the accumulation of NPs at GBM *** advanced imaging technology,multimodal NP-based contrast agents have been used to obtain accurate GBM diagnoses in addition to an increased amount of clinical diagnostic *** can also serve as drug delivery systems for GBM *** review focuses on the research progress for GBMtargeting MRI contrast agents as well as MRI-guided GBM therapy.

The localization and differential diagnosis of the sentinel lymph nodes(SLNs)are particularly important for tumor staging,surgical planning and *** this work,kinetically inert manganese(II)-based hybrid micellar complexes(MnCs)for magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)were developed using an amphiphilic manganese-based chelate(C18-PhDTA-Mn)with reliable kinetic stability and self-assembled with a series of amphiphilic PEG-C18 polymers of different molecular weights(C18En,n=10,20,50).Among them,the probes composed by 1:10 mass ratio of manganese chelate/C18En had slightly different hydrodynamic particle sizes with similar surface charges as well as considerable relaxivities(∼13 mM^(−1)s^(−1)at 1.5 T).In vivo lymph node imaging in mice revealed that the MnC MnC-20 formed by C18E20 with C18-PhDTA-Mn at a hydrodynamic particle size of 5.5 nm had significant signal intensity brightening effect and shortened T1 relaxation *** an imaging probe dosage of 125μg Mn/kg,lymph nodes still had significant signal enhancement in 2 h,while there is no obvious signal intensity alteration in non-lymphoid *** 4T1 tumor metastatic mice model,SLNs showed less signal enhancement and smaller T1 relaxation time variation at 30 min post-injection,when compared with normal lymph *** was favorable to differentiate normal lymph nodes from SLN under a 3.0-T clinical MRI *** conclusion,the strategy of developing manganese-based MR nanoprobes was useful in lymph node imaging.

Glioblastoma(GBM),one of the most common primary intracranial malignant tumours,is very difficult to be completely excised by surgery due to its irregular ***,we use an MRI/NIR fluorescence dual-modal imaging nanoprobe that includes superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles(SPIONs)modified with indocyanine(Cy7)molecules and peptides(ANG orDANG)to locate malignant gliomas and guide accurate *** peptides/Cy7-SPIONs probes displayed excellent tumour-homing properties and barrier penetrating abilities in vitro.

Linked brain connectivity patterns with psychopathological and cognitive phenotypes in drug-naive first-episode schizophrenia

Background Schizophrenia is considered to be a disorder of dysconnectivity characterized by abnormal functional integration between distinct brain *** brain connection abnormalities were found to be correlated with various clinical manifestations,but whether a common deficit in functional connectivity(FC)in relation to both clinical symptoms and cognitive impairments could present in first-episode patients who have never received any medication remains *** To find a core deficit in the brain connectome that is related to both psychopathological and cognitive *** A total of 75 patients with first-episode schizophrenia and 51 healthy control participants underwent scanning of the brain and clinical ratings of behaviors.A principal component analysis was performed on the clinical ratings of symptom and *** correlation analyses were conducted between the main psychopathological components and resting-state FC that were found abnormal in schizophrenia *** Using the principal component analysis,the first principal component(PC1)explained 37%of the total variance of seven clinical *** ratings of GAF and BACS contributed negatively to PC1,while those of PANSS,HAMD,and HAMA contributed *** FCs positively correlated with PC1 mainly included connections related to the insula,precuneus gyrus,and some frontal brain *** negatively correlated with PC1 mainly included connections between the left middle cingulate cortex and superior and middle occipital *** In conclusion,we found a linked pattern of FC associated with both psychopathological and cognitive manifestations in drug-na¨ıve first-episode schizophrenia characterized as the dysconnection related to the frontal and visual cortex,which may represent a core deficit of brain FC in patients with schizophrenia.

目的系统评价影像组学方法对胶质母细胞瘤的诊断价值。方法计算机检索PubMed、EMbase、Web of Science和The Cochrane Library数据库,查找利用影像组学方法对脑胶质瘤进行分级或对脑胶质母细胞瘤和其他肿瘤进行鉴别诊断的相关研究,检索时限均为建库至2021年5月30日。由2名研究者独立筛选文献、提取资料并评价纳入研究的偏倚风险和研究质量后,使用Meta-Disc 1.4软件和RevMan 5.3软件进行Meta分析。结果共纳入37个研究,包括4748例患者。Meta分析结果显示:影像组学诊断胶质母细胞瘤的合并敏感度、特异度、诊断比值比和SROC曲线下面积分别为0.91[95%CI(0.89,0.92)]、0.88[95%CI(0.87,0.90)]、78.00[95%CI(50.81,119.72)]和0.95,正确诊断胶质母细胞瘤的关键影像组学特征是病灶区域的强度特征和纹理特征。结论当前证据显示,影像组学对胶质母细胞瘤的诊断具有较高准确性。受纳入研究数量和质量的限制,上述结论尚待更多高质量研究予以验证。
