Exploring in-situ combustion effects on reservoir properties of heavy oil carbonate reservoir

Laboratory modeling of in-situ combustion is crucial for understanding the potential success of field trials in thermal enhanced oil recovery(EOR) and is a vital precursor to scaling the technology for field applications. The high combustion temperatures, reaching up to 480℃, induce significant petrophysical alterations of the rock, an often overlooked aspect in thermal EOR projects. Quantifying these changes is essential for potentially repurposing thermally treated, depleted reservoirs for CO_(2) *** this study, we depart from conventional combustion experiments that use crushed core, opting instead to analyze the thermal effects on reservoir properties of carbonate rocks using consolidated samples. This technique maintains the intrinsic porosity and permeability, revealing combustion's impact on porosity and mineralogical alterations, with a comparative analysis of these properties pre-and post-combustion. We characterize porosity and pore geometry evolution using low-field nuclear magnetic resonance, X-ray micro-computed tomography, and low-temperature nitrogen adsorption. Mineral composition of the rock and grain-pore scale alterations are analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray *** analysis shows a significant increase in carbonate rocks' porosity, pore size and mineral alterations, and a transition from mixed-wet to a strongly water-wet state. Total porosity of rock samples increased in average for 15%-20%, and formation of new pores is registered at the scale of 1-30 μm ***-temperature exposure results in the calcite and dolomite decomposition, calcite dissolution and formation of new minerals—anhydrite and fluorite. Conversion of an atomic to a molecular argon ion and low pressure argon relaxation

The dominant process in relaxation of DC glow discharge between two plane parallel electrodes in argon at pressure 200 Pa is analyzed by measuring the breakdown time delay and by analytical and numerical models. By using the approx- imate analytical model it is found that the relaxation in a range from 20 to 60 ms in afterglow is dominated by Ar＋ ions, produced by atomic-to-molecular conversion of Ar＋ ions in the first several milliseconds after the cessation of the discharge. This conversion is confirmed by the presence of double-Gaussian distribution for the formative time delay, as well as con- version maxima in a set of memory curves measured in different conditions. Finally, the numerical one-dimensional （1D） model for determining the number densities of dominant particles in stationary DC glow discharge and two-dimensional （2D） model for the relaxation are used to confirm the previous assumptions and to determine the corresponding collision and transport coefficients of dominant species and processes.

Properties improvement and microstructure changes during thermomechanical treatment in sintered Cu-Au alloy

The changes in hardness, microhardness, electrical conductivity and microstructure of the sintered Cu-4%Au （mole fraction） alloy during thermomechanical treatment were studied. Following the primary strain hardening, an annealing of rolled alloy in the temperature range of 60-350 ℃ provided additional strengthening due to the anneal hardening effect. An increase in properties took place in two stages, and the best combination of properties was achieved in the alloy pre-rolled with 40% reduction after annealing at 260 ℃. Significant microstructural changes followed the changes of properties in the course of the thermomechanical treatment.

Adenosquamous carcinoma arising within a retrorectal tailgut cyst: Report of a case

Retrorectal, developmental tail gut cysts, include dermoid cysts, rectal duplication cysts and retrorectal cyst-hamartomas. Retrorectal cyst-hamartomas （RCH） are derived from remnants of the tail gut, the most caudal part of the embryonic hincl gut, which normally involutes by the 8^th wk of embryonic development （3-8 mm stage）. They have specific radiological and histopathological features that distinguish them from other similar formations （dermoid cysts, enteric duplication cysts and teratomas）. We report a patient with adenosquamous carcinoma arising within RCH, who underwent complete resection of the cyst through anterior laparotomy, and reached complete （recurrencefree for 14 mo, so far） functional recovery. The cyst was incidentally discovered during hysterectomy 12 years ago. Diagnostic, therapeutic arid histopathological aspects of this rare case are discussed. The mentioned pedod between diagnosis and surgical treatment suggests that RCH, given enough time, can develop malignant degeneration, and should be resected at the time of diagnosis.

Analysis of photovoltaic power plant(PVPP)operations is important to both investors and users and to producers of equipment,researchers and designers as *** paper presents the analysis of the year-long operations of the group PVPPs in Serbia connected to the distribution network which was carried out through specific indicators such as electric power generation,power,capacity factors,specific yield,losses,period of cost effectiveness of the investment,*** attention has been paid to the influence of the azimuth and tilt of the photovoltaic modules on the performances of *** obtained through the year-long extensive measurements were compared to expected yields of PVPPs on the basis of the Climate SAF PVGIS *** results of the analysis indicate that available software applications cannot always provide a good enough forecast of expected electric power production since they cannot always assess well enough the effects of the surrounding facilities on operations of a *** addition,it has been found that the correlation between losses of annual achieved specific yield of a PVPP and the azimuth is represented by a polynomial of the second degree,whereas the correlation between losses of the annual achieved specific yield of a PVPP and the tilt is represented by an exponential function.

An unusual presentation of “silent” disseminated pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor

To present a patient diagnosed with pancreatic carcinoidthat was extremely rare and produced an atypical carcinoidsyndrome. We reported a 58-year old male patient whopresented with long standing, prominent cervicallymphadenopathy and occasional watery *** and immunohistochemical examinationof lymph node biopsy showed a metastatic neuroendocrinetumor, which was histological type A of carcinoid (EMA+,cytokeratin+, CEA-, NSE+, chromogranin A+, synaptophysin+,insulin-). Bone marrow biopsy showed identical *** site of the tumor was pancreas and diagnosis wasmade according to cytological and immunocytochemicalanalysis of the tumor cells obtained with aspiration biopsyof pancreatic mass (12 mm in diameter) under endoscopicultrasound guidance. However, serotonin levels in bloodand urine samples were normal. It is difficulty to establishthe precise diagnosis of a "functionally inactive" pancreaticcarcinoid and aspiration biopsy of pancreatic tumor underendoscopic ultrasound guidance can be used as a newpotent diagnostic tool.

Rock-magnetic characteristics and mechanisms of the Titel loess-paleosol sequence in northern Serbia since late Middle Pleistocene

The changing pattern of magnetic characteristics in eastern European loess deposits is the most similar across the world to that of the Chinese Loess Plateau,both of which are dominated by the strength of *** a systematical study to the rock magnetism of eastern European loess is not only helpful for understanding the paleoclimatic information preserved by themselves,but also beneficial for promoting the cognition of the pedogenic mechanism in loess *** this study,a detailed rock-magnetic analysis of seventy loess/paleosol samples,taken from the Titel Loess Plateau in northern Serbia,is carried out for a better understanding of the magnetic records since late Middle *** results provide us some ***,the magnetic susceptibility values of the paleosols in the Titel loess-paleosol sequence are generally less than 100×10^(-8)m^(3)kg^(-1),significantly lower than those of the loess sections in the Chinese Loess Plateau,even though they are under similar climatic ***,the behaviors of the parameters related to the distributions of magnetic particles in these two regions are *** difference in the contents of ferrimagnetic minerals is the leading reason that caused the difference in their magnetic characteristics,but the mechanism is still open to ***,based on the analysis of thermomagnetic curves,a gradually increasing trend of the relative contents of maghemite over the last four glacial-interglacial cycles is *** realization of thermally unstable maghemite from Chinese loess leads us to speculate that the long-term increasing trend of the relative contents of maghemite in Titel loess-paleosol sequence likely is a mineralogical response to the progressive enhancement of continental climate in the Pannonian Basin since the Middle Pleistocene.

Cross-Sectional Survey on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Awareness among Health Care Professionals and Students Using CHBQ Questionnaire in a Balkan Country

Objective： To conduct a study on attitudes, knowledge, and use of complementary and altemative medicine （CAM） therapies in Serbia. Available data about CAM therapies in the region are scarce, opinions lacking from health sector. Balkan region countries had a delay in issuing national policies on CAM therapies. Methods： The questionnaire used was based on previously validated CAM Health Belief Questionnaire （CHBQ）, formulated as 5-item Likert type scale, adjusted for local environment. Health care students and professionals were evaluated. The questionnaire comprehended 10 closed questions on attitudes, knowledge and use of CAM therapies. This survey was conducted in eight cities of Serbia, January 2010-July 2011. A total of 797 participants was included. The second group of participants was 145 healthcare professionals （50 academic staff, 64 clinical staff, 19 pharmacists, 6 other clinical branch specialists and 6 nurses）. Data were collected by an interview. Examinees could acquire maximum of 70 points, 35 representing neutral attitude. Restdts： Students of dentistry （54.65 ± 6.07） were better informed on CAM therapies than medicine students （50.26 ± 7.92）. Pharmacy students （51.16 ± 7.10） accepted low-scientific CAM. Pharmacists scored better than university professors （55.12±6.55 vs. 50.29± 9.50）. Primary health care professionals had better awareness than pharmacists in dispensing pharmacies. Both groups of participants preferred use of vitamins over any other CAM therapy. Conclusion： These pioneering efforts in the region exposed weaknesses in CAM attitudes of current and future health care professionals. Nevertheless, awareness on alternative medicine treatment choices is growing among Balkan prescribers. Supportive legal framework would facilitate dissemination of CAM medical practices.
