OBJeCTIVe: Uterine leiomyomata represent a major public health problem for black women in the United States, but limited data are.a.ailable on age- incidence curves in this high- risk population. We estimated ove.a.l and age- specific incidence rates for self- reported uterine leiomyomata in a large cohort of African- American women in the United States. MeTHODS: Data were derived from the Black Women’ s Health Study, an ongoing prospective cohort study of 59,000 black women from across the United States who were.a.ed 21- 69 years at baseline (ie, 1995). From March 1997 through March 2001, we followed up 22,895 premenopausal women with no prior diagnosis of uterine leiomyoma. Poisson regression was used to estimate ove.a.l and age- specific incidence rates and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for self- reported uterine leiomyoma. In a subset of 248 patients who were selected randomly from the total case group, the self- reported diagnosis was verified in 96% of cases who released their medical records. ReSULTS: During 76,711 woman- years of follow- up, 2,637 incident cases of uterine leiomyomata reported as confirmed by pelvic e.a.ination (n = 358), ultrasonography (n = 2,006), or hysterectomy (n = 273) were observed. Incidence rates per 1,000 woman- years were 34.4 (95% CI 33.1- 35.7) for all cases combined, 29.7 (95% CI 28.5- 30.9) for cases confirmed by ultrasonography or hysterectomy, and 3.6 (95% CI 3.2- 4.0) for cases confirmed by hysterectomy. The incidence rate peaked at ages 40- 44 years for all cases combined (incidence rate 45.6, 95% CI 42.0- 49.5) and for cases confirmed by ultrasonography or hysterectomy (incidence rate 39.8,95% CI 36.5- 43.4), and peaked at ages 45- 49 years for cases confirmed by hysterectomy (incidence rate 8.3, 95% CI 6.4- 10.7). CONCLUSION: Ove.a.l incidence rates for self- reported uterine leiomyomata were consistent with other U.S studies in black women and confirmed a high burden of disease in this population. Conservation management practices e including agroforestry,cover cropping,no-till,reduced tillage.a.d residue return e have been applied for de.a.es to control surface runoff and soil erosion,yet results have not been integrated and e.a.uated across cropping *** this study we collected data comparing agricultural production with and without conservation management *** used a bootstrap re.a.pling analysis to explore inte.a.tions between practice type,soil texture,surface runoff,and soil *** then used a corre.a.ion analysis to re.a.e changes in surface runoff and soil erosion to 13 other soil health and agronomic indicators,including soil organic carbon,soil aggre.a.ion,infil-tration,porosity,subsurface leaching,and cash crop *** all conservation management practices,surface runoff and erosion had respective mean decreases of 67%and 80%compared with *** of cover cropping provided the largest decreases in erosion and surface runoff,thus emphasizing the importance of maintaining continuous vege.a.ive cover on ***-and medium-textured soils had greater decreases in both erosion and runoff than fine-textured *** in surface runoff and soil erosion under conservation management were highly corre.a.ed with soil organic carbon,aggre.a.ion,porosity,infiltration,leaching,and yield,showing that conservation practices help drive important in-te.a.tions between these different facets of soil *** study offers the first large-scale comparison of how different conservation agriculture practices reduce surface runoff and soil erosion,and at the same time provides new insight into how these inte.a.tions influence the improvement or loss of soil health。

Iron is a limiting factor for the eutrophication of lakes, especially those lakes that are enriched with phosphorus. extractability of iron in sediments of West Lake.a.d Taihu Lake in China and Lower Lough erne in Northern Ire.a.d of UK was comparatively investigated on the basis of analysing chemical forms of iron using different extractants. It was shown that extractable iron in sediments of the lakes was greatly different using various extractants. Reactive iron or easily released iron such as “active" iron oxides, total free iron oxide.a.d water-soluble iron was not high, only accounting for 0.01%—0.15% of total iron. The efficiency of the extractants for exchangeable iron was decreased in the sequence 0.1 mol/L HCl DTPA+TeA mixed solution > 1 mol/L NH 4OAc > 0.5 mol/L MgCl 2 = 0.5 mol/L CaCl 2. It seems that the complexion of iron by organic matter was not strong be.a.se the concentration of organically bound iron was significantly lower than the concentration it was fore.a.ted. extractable iron is not entirely consistent with or dependent on total iron in lake sediments. To a certain extent, phosphate can inhibit the release of iron in sediments of the lakes. The selection of extractants is thus the first key step to e.a.uate bioavailability of iron in lake sediments.

Ischemic brain injury triggers an inflammatory response. tissue but can also e.a.erbate brain injury. Microglia are This response is necessary to clear damaged brain the innate immune cells of the brain that execute this critical function. In healthy brain, microglia perform a housekeeping function, pruning unused syn- apses between neurons. However, microglia become.a.tivated to an inflammatory phenotype upon brain injury. Interferon regulatory factors modulate microglial activation and their production of inflammatory cytokines. This review briefly discusses recent findings pertaining to these regulatory mechanisms in the context of stroke recovery.

As a soil amendment, biochar can reduce soil bulk density, increase soil porosity, and alter soil aggre.a.es and thus affect the infiltration. Researchers have proposed and revised seve.a. theoretical models to describe the process of soil infiltration. Although these models have been successfully used to e.a.uate the soil infiltration in different sce.a.ios in agricultural fields, little effort has been devoted to assess their performances in arid and semi-arid soils after the.a.dition of biochar. A laboratory experiment was performed to study the infiltration characteristics of two typical Loess Plateau soils at three particle sizes（2–1, 1–0.25, and 〈0.25 mm） and five biochar application amounts（0, 10, 50, 100, and 150 g/kg）. The performance of five models（i.e., the Philip model, Kostiakov model, Mezencev model, USDA-NRCS model, and Horton model） in simulating the infiltration process was then e.a.uated based on the.a.justed coefficient of determination and a reduced Chi-Square test. Results indicated that the Horton model best simulated the water-infiltration process in an aeolian sandy soil with added biochar. However, the Mezencev model best simulated the infiltration process in a loamy clay soil（eum-Orthic Anthrosol）. The three-parameter model, i.e., Mezencev and Horton models can better describe the re.a.ionship between cumulative infiltration and infiltration time. In conclusion, biochar reduced the soil infiltration capacity of the.a.olian sandy soil and increased that of the eum-Orthic Anthrosol.

The physical processes associated with the clear-sky greenhouse effect in the presence of water vapor are e.a.ined by including surface emissivity in the greenhouse effect formulation, and by introducing a new way to partition physical processes of the greenhouse effect. In this new framework, it is found that the clear-sky greenhouse effect is governed by three physical processes associated with (1) the tempe.a.ure contrast between the surface.a.d the.a.mosphere, (2) the inte.a.tion between the surface emissivity and the tempe.a.ure contrast, and (3) the surface emissivity. The importance of the three physical processes is assessed by computing their vertical and spectral variations far the subarctic winter and summer standard atmosphere using the radiation model MODTRAN3 (Mode.a.e Resolution Transmittance code Version 3). The results show that the process associated with the tempe.a.ure contrast between the surface.a.d the.a.mosphere dominates over the other two processes in magnitude. The magnitude of this process has substantial variations in the spectral region of 1250 to 1880 cm-1 and in the far infrared region. Due to the low-level tempe.a.ure inversion over the subarctic winter, there exists a ne.a.ive contribution to the greenhouse trapping. The seasonal variations are, however, dominated by the processes associated with the inte.a.tion between the surface emissivity and the tempe.a.ure contrast as well as the surface emissivity itself. The magnitudes of these two physical processes contributing to the greenhouse trapping over the subarctic winter are.a.out 7 to 10 times of those over the subarctic summer, whereas the magnitude of the processes associated with the tempe.a.ure contrast in the subarctic summer is only about 2 times of that in the subarctic winter.

Large quantities of organic by-products are gene.a.ed by the sugarcane industry during sugar extraction *** by-products may be used as soil amendments to improve soil quality,as nutrient leaching is common in mine.a. soils of Florida in USA due to their sandy texture.a.d frequent rain events.A soil column study was designed to e.a.uate the effects of bagasse.a.plication at 85 t ha^(-1) of fresh bagasse,170 t ha^(-1) of fresh bagasse.a.d 170 t ha^(-1) of fresh bagasse+nitrogen(N)on the leaching potential of carbon(C),N,phosphorus(P),and potassium(K).Bagasse was incorporated within the topsoil(0-15 cm)in outdoor soil columns exposed to natural conditions,with periodical irrigation during the *** approximately 57 weeks,the distributions of C,N,P,and K were e.a.uated at three soil depths(i.e.,0-15,15-30,and 30-53 cm)within the soil *** organic C(TOC),N,and P in leachates decreased significantly from the soils amended with bagasse compared with the control with no bagasse.a.d no *** on K content changes in the columns,bagasse could also be utilized as a potential source of K for ***,application of bagasse.a. a soil amendment might be.a. effective way to sustainably reutilize organic by-products while reducing concerns re.a.ding major nutrients entering groundwater *** results of this study could assist in developing nutrient management plans of using sugarcane bagasse.a. a potential soil amendment in mine.a. soils.

The CD19-targeting bispecific T-cell engager blinatumomab has shown re.a.kable efficacy in patients with re.a.sed/refractory B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic ***,seve.a. studies showed that blinatumomab has a short plasma half-life due to its low molecular weight,and thus its clinical use is ***,multiple trials have shown that approximately 30%of blinatumomab-re.a.sed cases are characterized by CD19 ne.a.ive leukemic ***,we design and characterize two novel antibodies,A-319 and *** and A-319 are CD3/CD19 bispecific antibodies with different molecular sizes and structures,and A-2019 is a novel CD3/CD19/CD20 trispecific antibody with an additional anti-CD20 *** in vitro,ex vivo,and in vivo experiments demonstrated that A-319 and A-2019 are potent antitumor agents and capable of recruiting CD3 positive T cells,enhancing T-cell function,mediating B-cell depletion,and eventually inhibiting tumor growth in Raji xenograft *** two molecules are complementary in terms of efficacy and specificity *** activity of A-319 demonstrated superior to that of A-2019,whereas A-2019 has an additional capability to target CD20 in cells missing CD19,suggesting its potential function against CD19 weak or ne.a.ive CD20 positive leukemic cells.
