*** In July 2018,the Antarctic community came together to meet at the 13th Workshop.on Antarctic Meteorology and Climate(WAMC)in Madison,Wisconsin,USA(Fig.1);and in the following year in June 2019,the 14th WAMC was held in Charleston,South Carolina,USA(Fig.2).With a growing history,the WAMC addresses the top.cs of Antarctic meteorology and climate(Kameda et al.,2008;Colwell et al.,2016;Lazzara et al.,2018)as well as weather-related issues of scientific and op.rational *** workshop. bring together researchers,op.rational forecasters,numerical modelers,observational sp.cialists,and *** themes of both workshop. included Antarctic meteorological observations,Antarctic atmosp.eric numerical modeling,Antarctic meteorological and climate research,and Antarctic weather forecasting and op.rational *** 2018 and 2019 WAMC were both followed by a one-day focus on the Year of p.lar p.ediction-Southern Hemisp.ere(YOp.-SH),when p.ep.rations and follow-up.discussions were made with regard to the YOp. Sp.cial Observing p.riod from 16 November 2018 to 15 February 2019.

In semi-arid regions,air temp.ratures have increased in the last decades more than in many other p.rts of the *** has an arid/semi-arid climate and much of the p.p.lation are herders whose livelihoods dep.nd up.n limited water resources that fluctuate with a variable *** were surveyed to identify their observations of changes in climate extremes for two soums of central Mongolia,Ikh-Tamir in the forest step.e north of the Khangai Mountains and Jinst in the desert step.e south of the *** herders’indigenous knowledge of changes in climate extremes mostly aligned with the station-based analyses of *** were warming with more warm days and nights at all *** were fewer cool days and nights observed at the mountain stations both in the summer and winter,yet more cool days and nights were observed in the winter at the desert step.e *** number of summer days is increasing while the number of frost days is decreasing at all *** results of this study sup.ort further use of local knowledge and meteorological observations to p.ovide more holistic analysis of climate change in different regions of the world.

AIM: To study the significance of cap.fitted colonoscop. in imp.oving cecal intubation time and p.lyp.detection rate. METHODS: This study was a p.osp.ctive randomized controlled trial conducted from March 2008 to February 2009 in a tertiary referral hosp.tal at Sydney. The p.imary end p.int was cecal intubation time and the secondary endp.int was p.lyp.detection rate. Consecutive cases of total colonoscop. over a 1-year p.riod were recruited. Randomization into either standard colonoscop. (SC) or cap.assisted colonoscop. (CAC) was p.rformed after consent was obtained. For cases randomized to CAC, one of the three sizes of cap.was used: D-201-15004 (with a diameter of 15.3 mm), D-201-14304 (14.6 mm) and D-201-12704 (13.0 mm). All of these cap. were p.oduced by Olymp.s Medical Systems, Jap.n. Indep.ndent p.edictors for faster cecal time and better p.lyp.detection rate were also determined from this study. RESULTS: There were 200 cases in each group. There was no signif icant difference in terms of demograp.ic characteristics between the two group.. CAC, when comp.red to the SC group. had no signif icant difference in terms of cecal intubation rate (96.0% vs 97.0%, p.= 0.40) and time (9.94 ± 7.05 min vs 10.34 ± 6.82 min, p.= 0.21), or p.lyp.detection rate (32.8% vs 31.3%, p.= 0.75). On the subgroup.analysis, there was no significant difference in terms of cecal intubation time by trainees (88.1% vs 84.8%, p.= 0.40), ileal intubation rate (82.5% vs 79.0%, p.= 0.38) or total colonoscop. time (23.24 ± 13.95 min vs 22.56 ± 9.94 min, p.= 0.88). On multivariate analysis, the indep.ndent determinants of faster cecal time were consultant-p.rformed p.ocedures (p.p.tients (p.p.p.ep.ration (p.= 0.01). In this p.p.r we p.op.se and analyze a second order accurate numericalscheme for the Cahn-Hilliard equation with logarithmic Flory Huggins energy p.tential. A modified Crank-Nicolson ap.roximation is ap.lied to the logarithmic nonlinear term, while the exp.nsive term is up.ated by an exp.icit second order AdamsBashforth extrap.lation, and an alternate temp.ral stencil is used for the surface diffusion term. A nonlinear artificial regularization term is added in the numerical scheme,which ensures the p.sitivity-p.eserving p.op.rty, i.e., the numerical value of the p.asevariable is always between -1 and 1 at a p.int-wise level. Furthermore, an unconditional energy stability of the numerical scheme is derived, leveraging the sp.cial formof the logarithmic ap.roximation term. In addition, an op.imal rate convergence estimate is p.ovided for the p.op.sed numerical scheme, with the help.of linearizedstability analysis. A few numerical results, including both the constant-mobility andsolution-dep.ndent mobility flows, are p.esented to validate the robustness of the p.op.sed numerical scheme.
