Personalized precision therapy and rapid osseointegration are the main development directions of dental implants.3 D printing is a vital advanced manufacturing technology for personalized precision ***,the osteogenesis of the 3 D printed Ti6 Al4 V implants is *** the bionic perspective,the hierarchical micro/nano-topography can mimic the microenvironment of the multilevel structure of natural bone tissue and may endow the implant surface with superior *** the present study,the hierarchical micro/nano-topography was successfully fabricated by construction the nanoscale feature on 3 D printed microscale roughness surface of 3 D-printed Ti6 Al4 V implants by alkali-heat treatment and hydrothermal *** the cell biological responses in vitro and osseointegration performance in vivo were systematically *** hierarchical micro/nano-topography evidently increased the roughness,improved the hydrophilicity and accelerated the hydroxyapatite deposition and mineralization,which significantly enhanced the adhesion,differentiation and extracellular matrix mineralization of bone marrow derived mesenchymal stromal cells(BMSCs).Most importantly,the hierarchical micro/nano-topography on 3 D-printed implants facilitated the new bone formation and rapid osseointegration in *** study suggested that 3 D-printed implant with micro/nano-topography may be a promising candidate to be applied in orthopedic field to meet the need of customized therapy and rapid osseointegration.

Overexpression of Dlx2 enhances osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs and MC3T3-E1 cells via direct upregulation of Osteocalcin and Alp

Genetic studies have revealed a critical role of Distal-homeobox (Dlx) genes in bone formation,and our previous study showed that Dlx2 overexpressing in neural crest cells leads to profound abnormalities of the craniofacial *** aim of this study was to investigate the role and the underlying molecular mechanisms of Dlx2 in osteogenic differentiation of mouse bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) and pre-osteoblast MC3T3-E1 ***,we observed upregulation of Dlx2 during the early osteogenesis in BMSCs and MC3T3-E1 ***,Dlx2 overexpression enhanced alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and extracellular matrix mineralization in BMSCs and MC3T3-E1 cell *** addition,micro-CT of implanted tissues in nude mice confirmed that Dlx2 overexpression in BMSCs promoted bone formation in ***,Dlx2 overexpression had little impact on the expression level of the pivotal osteogenic transcription factors Runx2,Dlx5,Msx2,and Osterix,but led to upregulation of Alp and Osteocalcin (OCN),both of which play critical roles in promoting osteoblast ***,luciferase analysis showed that Dlx2 overexpression stimulated both OCN and Alp promoter *** chromatin-immunoprecipitation assay and site-directed mutagenesis analysis,we provide molecular evidence that Dlx2 transactivates OCN and Alp expression by directly binding to the Dlx2-response cis-acting elements in the promoter of the two *** on these findings,we demonstrate that Dlx2 overexpression enhances osteogenic differentiation in vitro and accelerates bone formation in vivo via direct upregulation of the OCN and Alp gene,suggesting that Dlx2 plays a crucial role in osteogenic differentiation and bone formation.

Ecological conservation, remediation and construction for building an ecological civilization in China: concepts for ecological activity

This paper explains and discusses the concepts of ecological conservation and construction in China in three parts. The first part provides a brief description of the historical background of ecological activities in China and their major achievements in the past. The second part is a comprehensive review of various types of ecological control activity aimed at the improvement of natural and artificially established ecosystems at the landscape,regional(watershed) and higher levels. The scope of and differences between some ecological terms used in China such as ecological protection, conservation, remediation(rehabilitation), restoration as well as the reestablishment of new ecosystems are elaborated. The review suggests that the term "ecological conservation and construction"should be used to embrace all types of ecological control activity in China. Finally, five guidelines are proposed for promoting the implementation of ecological conservation and construction in China based on the two important governmental documents related to the development of ecological civilization in China.

To develop a biodegradable membrane with guided bone regeneration(GBR),a Mg-2.0Zn-1.0Gd alloy(wt.%,MZG)membrane with Ca-P coating was designed and fabricated in this *** microstructure,hydrophilicity,in vitro degradation,cytotoxicity,antibacterial effect and in vivo regenerative performance for the membrane with and without Ca-P coating were *** coating,the membrane exhibited an enhance hydrophilicity and corrosion resistance,showed good in vitro cytocompatibility upon MC3T3E-1 cells,and exhibited excellent antibacterial effect against ***,Staphylococcus epidermis and Staphylococcus aureus,*** vivo experiment using the rabbit calvarial defect model confirmed that Ca-P coated MZG membrane underwent progressive degradation without inflammatory reaction and significantly improved the new bone formation at both 1.5 and 3 months after the *** the results strongly indicate that MZG with Ca-P coating have great potential for clinical application as GBR membranes.

Preparation and Characterization of High Quality Diamond Films by DC ArcPlasma Jet CVD Method

Under optimal conditions free-standing high quality diamond films were prepared by DC arc plasma jet CVD method at a growth rate of 7-10 Pm/h. Surface and cross section morphologies of the diamond films were observed by SEM. Raman spectrometer wasused to characterize the quality of diamond films. The IR transmittivity measured by IR spectrometer is close to the theoretical value ofabout 71% in the far infrared band. The thermal conductivity measured by photothermal deflection exceeds 18 W/cm' K. is thepreferential growth orientation of the films detected by X-ray diffractometer. As s result, the extremely high temperature of DC arc plasma jet can produce supersaturated atomic hydrogen, which played an important role in the process for the deposition of high quality diamond films.

Genome-wide Identification and Expression Analysis of Half-size ABCG Genes in Malus × domestica

Half-size adenosine triphosphate-binding cassette transporter subgroup G(ABCG) genes play crucial roles in regulating the movements of a variety of substrates and have been well studied in several plants. However, half-size ABCGs have not been characterized in detail in apple(Malus × domestica Borkh.). Here, we performed a genome-wide identification and expression analysis of the half-size ABCG gene family in apple.A total of 46 apple half-size ABCGs were identified and divided into six clusters according to the phylogenetic analysis. A gene structural analysis showed that most half-size ABCGs in the same cluster shared a similar exon–intron organization. A gene duplication analysis showed that segmental, tandem and whole-genome duplications could account for the expansion of half-size ABCG transporters in M. domestica. Moreover, a promoter scan, digital expression analysis and RNA-seq revealed that Md ABCG21 may be involved in root's cytokinin transport and that ABCG17 may be involved in the lateral bud development of M. spectabilis ‘Bly114’ by mediating cytokinin transport. The data presented here lay the foundation for further investigations into the biological and physiological processes and functions of half-size ABCG genes in apple.

Perinatal stem cells: A promising cell resource for tissue engineering of craniofacial bone

In facing the mounting clinical challenge and suboptimal techniques of craniofacial bone defects resulting from various conditions, such as congenital malformations, osteomyelitis, trauma and tumor resection, the ongoing research of regenerative medicine using stem cells and concurrent advancement in biotechnology have shifted the focus from surgical reconstruction to a novel stem cell-based tissue engineering strategy for customized and functional craniofacial bone regeneration. Given the unique ontogenetical and cell biological properties of perinatal stem cells, emerging evidence has suggested these extraembryonic tissue-derived stem cells to be a promising cell source for extensive use in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. In this review, we summarize the current achievements and obstacles in stem cell-based craniofacial bone regeneration and subsequently we address the characteristics of various types of perinatal stem cells and their novel application in tissue engineering of craniofacial bone. We propose the promising feasibility and scope of perinatal stem cell-based craniofacial bone tissue engineering for future clinical application.

Productivity Gap and Inward FDI Spillovers: Theory and Evidence from China

This paper constructs a two-stage sequential game model to shed light on the spillover effect of inward FDI on the efficiency of domestic firms in host *** model shows that,given an optimal joint-venture policy made by foreign firms,the impact of the spillover effect of inward FDI is contingent upon the productivity gap between the domestic firms and foreign *** particular,we demonstrate that the spillover effect of inward FDI varies negatively with the productivity gap between domestic lowproductivity firms and foreign firms but works in the opposite way for high-productivity *** suggests that once the productivity gap widens,the entry of foreign firms will increase the efficiency of high-productivity firms but reduce the efficiency of lowproductivity *** support of our theoretical model,we provide robust empirical results by using the dataset of annual survey of Chinese industrial enterprises.
